i highly recommend this for hair tutorial, it even gives you a tut for eyes and metal, so maybe thatll help ;)
as for faces... this is for the more cartoony style, but for realism, i recommend simply looking at references and noticing the proportions and differences form face to face. google is thy friend

meh, it just looks like you cut out the shape for the hair.
try actually coloring it and giving it some texture instead of a single solid color, itll make it pop :)
