well of course the conest host is going to make mad money off of the deal, but the reward is usually more that 2 free tshirts
there is usually a money reward, and it is usually over $100 too. what they mean is that usually, you get money and then a couple free T's to throw around. the tshirts are secondary

while yes, having centimeters would be helpful, i believe most art programs have the option to create/edit a canvas by inches as well as cm, pixels, and %, so i think it should be okay
and if anyone was planning to do this on a sheet of paper (A4 i think), normal paper is 8.5" x 11"

as for the work on the clothing, i think they are pretty good concepts, but when you do more solid lineart, to add little details, and, in case you need it, here is a folds tutorial to get the wrinkles right ;)

1. way to simple. they are just diamonds on anatomically incorrect bodies
2. if emeral was wrapping his arm around ruby's shoulder, you wouldnt see the back of the arm
3. needs shading
4. could use a background
5. cleaner lineart maybe?
6. gems could use more definitions. maybe more facets. google can find you a nice reference
