I really think we need to bring back the bad art portal of death thing.

It will make breaking it to the artists with crappy characters much easier

well, from what ive seen in your starter images, you cel-shade, and maybe add a little blur to the edges

what i would recommend (i've been doing this with my cel-shade in SAI and it turns out great) is:
1.) Select with Magic wand tool the area you want to color
2.) New Layer
3.) Bucket Fill with selected color
4.) New Layer (on top of the one you are working on!!!)
5.) Select "Layer Clip" ("Clip Layer" depending on which version of SAI, whatever)
6.) Select desired shade/highlight color
7.) Color on this clipped layer
What happens is, on the new layer, it will only color on top of what has been colored on the previous layer. Be warned though, when you unclip the the layer everything you have colored will be shown (not just the color on top of the previous layer)

Of course, you might have meant something completely different and I'm just wasting my breath. Whatever.

No, next time there will be much more time. This was kind of thrown together at the last minute because we wanted to do it :)

I'll probably announce the next icon/theme 2-3 weeks ahead of time. Hopefully that'll encourage people to spend more time on their pieces.

well even now there is a little under 4 weeks till the next flood
i think the longer the better, but hey, you guys just did an awesome first flood. celebrate

i brought a rick roll CD...

You should give this guy some hair (maybe) and a body!

maybe, but i think ill let it rot in WIP hell :P

I like the shading cause there's no linework and it still has very definite edges.

you mean cel-shading? thanks :P

anyways, fun in iScribble!

do we really need one for every occasion?
Response to: Art Group Activities Posted September 30th, 2010 in Art

Oh look, I made a room.

If you're wondering about the name choice, I was looking for something that occured on September 30. Then, when I was about to Google it, the Google homescreen gave me an idea. So I called it NGA Flintstones because its the Flintstones 50th Aniversary. And its "NGA" because "NG Art Flintstones" doesn't fit. :(

Suddenly, faced with some inexplicable dillema, Norm jumps off of your head, landing between you and the Orbmonster.
You are kind of relieved that there is now something seperating you from the Orbmonster, but you'd feel really guilty if your friend of 5 minutes, Norm, becomes Orbmonster breakfast.
However, while you are busy being an emo and sulking, Norm starts shaking on the ground! He is getting really pale. He looks like he's gonna be sick.
What the fuck did you give him, asshole?!?
With one sickening lurch, Norm throws up. At this point the Orbmonster went back into the deep cave and has come back wearing his favorite monocle and top hat, in his mouth his trusty pipe. Right now he is taking a smoke so you figure you have a few seconds to think this through.
Being the sicko that you are, you decide to use the precious time to look through Norm's puke; you saw something shiny.

Yeah i really dont know what this is but i dont draw enough girls and i draw them crap so i should practise.

i like the hair, thats good. the rest of her clothes, well, the whole pic for that matter, is lacking the nice shading and contrast. the other colors blend in.
also, spend more time on your grass; that couldnt have taken you more than a miinute. try drawing it blade-by-blade with many different shades of green, youll be surprised how much better it looks
