I was thinking something similar to this. ^

However, I will wait before I decide whether or not to join this... I went through your thread Chrisseh, and I saw how much of a mess it became...
Hope this one ends a little more pleasantly :)

Well, maybe because there is a gigantic earth behind it... :P
Although I must say, that moon is very distracting...

Still... it looks fantastic :D

At 2/6/11 06:06 PM, BlackmarketKraig wrote: For the actual construction of the collab and it's visual theme I have a few ideas, maybe I could get some input on them from you guys:

- a time capsule
- an alien/aliens stumbling upon the remnants of the earth

I think these could kind of go together. Aliens stumble upon earth, millenia in the future. It is fairly quiet and desolate. There are a few critters that have survived and reproduced, so not all is lost. The aliens enter a clearing, which in the center is a mound of dirt with a withering flag. (don't ask me how it survived.) They scan it or something and discover a capsule. They dig it up, and inside is, basically, a recount of what happened.

I think I'm reading too far into this. Fuck it, I like my idea :D
- a space probe (a la Voyager I) with a record of the end of life on earth

I really like this one. Its pretty cool. I would think there should be a NASA logo in the bottom corner, in the opening scene. Maybe times and dates recorded as well. A robotic/electronic font would look cool :P

what's texture tape? i used a lot of textures.

Taping textures on left and right, instead of doing it manually like a badass!
Also synonymous with being texture raped (v.)

It wasn't until I got my tablet that I've been experimenting with brushes and the sort. Right now I'm focusing less on creating really original art and more on practicing the basics of drawing on a tablet.

As for everyone else, I really do appreciate the help and advice that you are all giving me. I hope to improve enough to actually post something worthwhile on the site.

You don't appreciate my advice? TT^TT
Naw, but I see your point. But in order to get a better handle of your tablet, don't do photomanipulations. You aren't really learning to use your tablet as much as you are getting acquainted with Photoshop's, well, phototshopping ability. Use a reference, and try to make it similar to the referenced picture. You did kinda try in your starter image, but you need to make it more refined. Start with shapes, draw from life, all that jazz. Your picture is very loose and sloppy. turn the lines into some real lineart and then color and stuff.

And stuff. Hope I helped (I doubt I did.)

Well, not entirely original, but more of a photo manipulation.
Anyways, I would tell you to clean up the lines, and try for something a but more original.

Well, I'm not very familiar with photoshop myself, as I don't use it.
But I've looked at Suzuran's lineart and color tutorials and they have everything from the basics to what are some more advanced techniques. Maybe that will help? :)

You can try to get some colored pencils and coloring your artwork that way. It might be fun and maybe easier than scanning, and coloring in photoshop?
