Basically a clicker game but instead of powering up an individual unit (or increase damage), you sped up different parts of a machine so it ran better

You can't prosecute soldiers for self-defense in a combat situation, otherwise they wouldn't be there in the first place.

Of course you can't, but have you seen the most famous video he leaked? It's not really a case of self defence is it? The soldiers seem to be shooting at a group of people walking, 2 reporters with cameras, children in a van... In a fair fight both sides should do whatever is necessary to defend themselves but this wasn't a fair fight and I believe that it's a good thing for the world to see how there are a lot of cases going on right now where soldiers shoot at civilians from helicopters, while laughing and repeating "request permission, request permission!"... at least we have these soldiers delivering freedom to the middle east! How else would they find it if not for the helicopters raining down machinegun ammo towards reporters and kids?

he thought that leaking documents that should've been left alone would make him a sympathetic hero, but instead made him a pariah

There's a lot of people all over the world defending this man. Just check this website out, http://www.bradleymanning.org/ . Manning's getting support from a lot of different people, and it's because some people believe that when someone speaks out and shows the world what has been going on underneath the blankets, the first thing to be done is: look at the disclosed information. Now you say his life is in the hand of the military court, but putting someone's life in the hand of the people he's exposed is not very logical.

Instead of saying "Shut up! Don't tell secrets! Don't break the law!" Try asking, what are these secrets?

I'm not condoning general law-breaking in any way, but i am encouraging you to find out why he's being attacked before just accepting him as a criminal

Manning isn't Snowden but nonetheless these never-ending arguments of weather or not he should be pardoned/prosecuted, i believe, are trivial when compared to the people present in the documents he disclosed.
If Manning gets 35 years in prison for telling the world that his comrades are shooting down reporters from a helicopter, what about the soldiers in the videos?? Should't they also be prosecuted?
Thats what im trying to get to i guess, if he's guilty simply for telling the world what happened, then why arent the people that are actually killing other guilty too?

: The US, via the Army, via his platoon hurt him, so he hurt back.

You're making this out to be some kind of Columbine event where a soldier gets ridiculed and proceeds to disclose hundreds of thousands of documents on Guantanamo, Afganistan and foreign policy, putting himself, the army and the government in the middle of a very bright spotlight. And all for what? So he can get back at the "evil organization" that wont accept him for who he is?

It doesn't sound good enough for me.

What you're doing is; taking a guy who shows the world what the conflict in the middle east really looks like (eg. a helicopter shooting civilians which turned out to be reporters) and then you smack him on the head and lock him in a room for telling. Despicable actions should not be hidden from the public, and we shouldn't condemn those brave enough to speak out with 35 years in a cell

It's possible i'm wrong and he did it for some other reason but it seems a bit exaggerated don't you think, he gets harassed by his platoon for being gay and so he up and reveals countless documents (none of which have to do with his 'aggressors' or homosexuality) to wikileaks..?

It doesn't seems like a revenge since it's not his platoon who is in the spotlight on the leaked documents.

Manning said he did it out of love for his country.
He doesn't want to see his country being involved in all the violence that goes on unjustly in the middle east. The document he exposed, if taken seriously by the right people, should have been enough to get the people of the US and the government to stop all these barbaric conflicts and leave the area. BUT NO instead you demonize him first as a traitor; and then you switch the attention from the actual documents he exposed (the reason he got 35 years) to some soap opera triffle of a sex change.

You're an american, and Manning betrayed the US Army but I belive that when a guy shows the world, through army footage, HIS OWN army killing civilians from helicopters, shooting and laughing at the victims and files disclosing some of the horrendous happenings of guantanamo bay; and you start thinking 'well shoud he be pardoned?' I think you're forgetting about the thing that got him in this situation in the first place; the actual documents.

Manning cared for the truth as the authority, and not the authority as the truth. And because of it he's spending the next 35 years of his life in a cell, at best.
