There's no way we would've joined Central Powers. I'm not basing this on some misguided "allies good Germany bad" idea but based on the economic situation at the time. By 1917 the US had loaned the Entente tons of money (even some weapons were made in the US) if the Entente lost the war the US economy would have been ruined. Also the Germans and some pretty nasty plans for the nations of Eastern Europe. These plans weren't as bad as Hitler but they were still pretty bad.

Modern Japanese are almost completely different from the Imperial Japanese of Pre-1945. They have abandoned all the ideals and practices of that time and are incredibly dependent on the US for their military. They are no threat.

In the black community there seems to be a culture of anti-intellectualism. I know this because my fellow black students have made fun of me for not talking in a stereotypical way, Ebonics, and getting high grades in school. I've also read about the same thing happening to other black students.I do believe that black culture plays a significant role in an educational divide if there is one.
