Topic: People are Gullible

Posted: 04/12/09 12:36 PM

Forum: General

I am continuously surprised by how gullible people can be. It seems to me that unless someone is given a reason to become skeptical it is human nature to believe what they are told. This year's NG April Fools was a good example.

Especially rich people who lived sheltered lives, people who grew up with a lot of money. You could be shocked at how gullible these people can be.

Children are the most gullible of all, and I was no exception. When I was very young a girl I knew, Rose, played a trick on me. It was a long time ago but basically she took me into this tent and shook it or something and said that we were traveling to a different dimension or something. When we came out of the tent she told me that even though everything looked the same we were actually in a different dimension and everyone in this world was actually an identical imposter, an alien.

The point is, I believed it and it kind of freaked me out. I forget all of the details because it was so long ago but that incident, among others, is one of the reasons I have become so skeptical.

Now the point of this thread is to describe incidents where you were tricked into believing something or you tricked someone into believing something. Or just discuss an incident showing human gullibility. Try to avoid ranting about religion, that is not the point.

Well if it makes you guys feel any better, I thought your parts were funny and fit well whereas mine was just kind of random and retarded and drags on for too long.

I was also thinking of making a part using this sound clip: Demo

Should I do it?

Was it april fools or not?

How can people still not be getting this... Seriously Tom CAN lie you know. I mean I might have bought this stuff for a little while if this was my first year at newgrounds. But 9 years on here and you quickly get used to the idea of a NG April Fools prank. (Made the account in 03 but i've been a part of NG since before Y2K.)

I can't believe people are posting in this thread who still think this is real. They even know that yesterday was April Fools and they're still not sure, how gullible can you get. Just because Tom posted it doesn't make it true.

Getting to the point where it's more depressing than funny.

I'm no stranger to pain, I have broken 6 bones so far. Firstly and probably the most painful was my leg when I was like 6, I broke both the fibula and the tibia at the same time and I was in agony. Later I broke my arm, then later still I broke both my left and right arms at the same time. Then I broke some bone in my thumb, and finally I broke my tailbone. I was pretty active when I was a kid, Haven't broken a bone since joining NG though! Rofl.

Topic: April fools the funeral is ruined.

Posted: 04/02/09 03:40 PM

Forum: General

I'm the kind of guy who smiles at a funeral. I've only been to two both when I was pretty young, 10 and 12 I think. But I remember having this weird feeling in my chest and while people around me were crying I was holding back my laughter. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful I couldn't really help it.

I have no way to judge for my self because I was not there, so I can't know for sure just how rude or insensitive they were at your great uncles funeral.

I am sorry for your, and your great uncle's loss. But your great uncle appeared to have lived a full and happy life with his wife, and that is more than I can say for most of my family. You can't let things like this get to you. Ease up on that anger, everyone is going to face loss in their lives at some point.

At least venting your anger on a BBS is better than going out and hurting anyone.

I think the reason so many more people got tricked this year was because of the filters, April Fools to China Rules, was brilliant. Really confused the noobs because it was a lot harder for them to find clues letting the nooblets know it was April Fools.

Even then I'm still kind of stunned that people could actually believe it, lol.

I didn't think it would get much better than the McDonalds one from way back but this was pretty epic.
Good job guys!

Topic: Flash Offer

Posted: 03/30/09 08:58 AM

Forum: General

Let me start off by saying I do not encourage people to use the forums to create topics asking people to make flashes for them. This is a one time deal.

Ok, I am an alright (nothing really special) with flash, and am in the mood to create something but don't really have the motivation to come up with story of my own and complete it. I find that I am more motivated if I am working for some one else, so I am offering to create a short flash for anyone who provides me a decent script.

This will not be for money for either you or me, it is simply a chance for some one who cannot afford flash of their own or doesn't have the skills to use it to have something submitted onto the portal.

I will co-author you as a writer when I submit the flash, please PM me if you are interested.

I really enjoy what you have done with this, fishy with a bit more variety and levels is cool stuff. One odd thing was it sort of seemed easier on insane than it did on easy just because it took so long for small fish to spawn on easy whereas you had a much larger selection to choose from in insane so you could evolve much faster.

My only suggestion is to have your fish go temporary invincible when coming out of the level screen just to avoid frustrating occurrences.

Great game, looking really good, and I'm looking forward to seeing it come out in the portal.
