Dude, Coldplay is not emo. I don' t know about sigur ross seeing as how I've never heard of them but yeah. Coldplay is really soft and even though it may be a bit emotional it's not in an "emo" way like this thread is referring to. Coldplay is more uplifting music.

You are almost completely wrong. Sum 41 is more like wanna-be punk rock or sell out rock like green day's more recent albums. Hoobastank is not emo either, it is kind of like Jimmy Eat World which is more alternative. Muse is definitely not emo, Muse is amazing...Muse is Alternative and Electronica...not emo, they don't sing about pain and attempted suicide or the lows of the life...they are far more poetic than that.

My Chemical Romance on the other hand...is the closest one out of the 4 you listed to emo.

These are my opinions.

Oh, get over it. This is newgrounds. I mean seriously that's kind of something you should be aware of before submitting. This place is filled with loyal fan boys and girls that only keep the major ng artists at the top. I felt the same way I guess at one point but really it doesn't matter. This is no where near a professional audio site. Just keep submitting.

i'm sure there are free ones but you have to remember most things you download on the net that are free aren't going to be very good.

if you are willing to spend some cash here are a few possibilities:

Fruity Loops ( I use this and I think it's really good)
Reason (no experience whatsoever but many like it)
Acid (Tried once but it wasn't my thing)

I don't know a whole lot about guitar since I just started playing a little while back but to my knowledge the term "shredding" is referring to someone busting out like hardcore solos or riffs. I would assume it meant playing really hard stuff and most likely fast combos.

maybe maybe not but thats what I would think.

Well right now I'm not considering doing it for money maybe just learn how to do it for fun and make some mixes and maybe do a few parties if I get good enough.

Lately I've been thinking about investing in a set of turntables and learning to dj. I've been looking on Musiciansfriend.com at some of the bundled packages of turntables along with mixers and I think I want to go with something along those lines. I know Technics are pretty much the best turntables but they are way to expensive to learn the ropes on. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what to buy that isn't too expensive but isn't total crap?

Topic: Rock vs Techno

Posted: 01/07/07 12:37 AM

Forum: Audio

First off...why refer only to techno when there are about a hundred different genres of electronica out there that matter just as much. It seems that the un-eductated generally refer to any electronica piece as techno...this is totally wrong.

i do'nt know who said this but i agree with whoever said...that it depends on the mood your in. If I wanna really dance or rave it up...trance is my main thing but if i'm just sitting around and looking for a good song rock is also good. I don't choose either over eachother because they both are very good. But like others have said...if you must choose...go with industrial and that is why i like nine inch nails.

Topic: Having tons of synthesizers?

Posted: 01/03/07 11:22 PM

Forum: Audio

Well there's two possibilities...a person could buy some used equipment on settle for lower quality and then ofcourse you would need a job. Live life normally and gradually get better and better at djing and/or creating tracks. Try and get a few gigs and get some money out of it. Use that money to buy better stuff.

Or instead of going for gigs you could just keep saving until you've got an acceptable workstation synth and equipment and then go from there...

so i guess theres three ways. i don't mean to endorse this but i'm sure a few people out there got famous from stealing software or equipment that is high end and from there becoming good and then getting paid a bunch and not having to steal anymore.

Haha, that might work for you but maybe not for me...

anways...is your music euro-trance because i've been reading into the different genres of trance on wikipedia and your music seems to best fit in that genre. It had examples such as Cascada and that seemed like your style a bit.

ps. I will try to contact the record label.

I'm from Washington state and in the Seattle area the rave scene is still pumpin. I just went to a rave a little while ago. It's not like it was in some huge abandoned warehouse...it was more of a club atmosphere with all the cool lights and trance music. I just think raves are more contained than they used to be.

I have seen alot of people wearing big pants but I've never heard them called that.

ps. I also don't know what the shuffle is...sounds kinda gay to me. I usually just twirl my glowsticks and dance around.

Topic: Techno, Trance, House, Dance?

Posted: 12/21/06 03:59 PM

I was reading through the replies you guys have given and to tell you the truth I wasn't satisfied with really any of them. Tempo really doesn't relate to any of these genres. I'll start with the basics that I have learned from reading web pages dedicated to informing readers about different genres of electronica.

Techno - Like someone else said...it can tend to be fast paced melodies but you can't always write a genre off and solely that. There are many variations and saying that it is always fast paced isn't accurate. Genres in my opinion are generally categorized by the kinds of synths used. Like someone mentioned above...dimrain47's work is a great example of techno.

Trance - Someone said trance is usually around 120 - 140 bpm. that's not necessarily true either. Although most of the time that is true, it can be faster when it's happy hardcore (sub genre), and then it can be anywhere from 140-180 (estimate). Trance uses alot of repetition of sounds, repeated melodies and things like builds. Trance tends to use alot of snare and crashes. Trance can feature very melodic vocals as well. But then again there is also hardstyle trance that is more "dark" if you will. Using more trancy sfx rather than melodies.

House - House has a very tricky beat most of the time. Rather than kick kick kick like trance, it is more than likely to be kcik kick kick ki-ki-kick or something along those lines. From what I've experienced it can use more sine or crunchy synths or 'nasally' kind of like that i guess.

Dance- Dance is like trance but kind of without the trance haha. I don't know too much abotu this genre.
