Response to: Krinkels Imposter Posted April 25th, 2009 in Game Development

what the fuck? i read every post, and it started as a simple user bitching about a fake flash, to a huge conspiracy theory? how do you know krinkles is an imposter? you dont really have proof! just small facts that you believe? wtf. I mean, tell me this; you say krinkles has been stealing the sprites and all that to make it look like its actually his. But what, somehow he has been stealing SCREENSHOTS and posting them in his post on his account. So yah...

wait...i was just reading krinkles account. I dont think his account has been deleted? now im confused? seriously whats going on. someone said that tom was gonna delete his account? whatever. I dont even care anymore...

Response to: The Newgrounds Preview Collab Posted April 17th, 2009 in Game Development

so wait, does this collab mean you give like a small demo of your upcoming game to hyper people up. Or can it be kinda like...a trailer..thingy. Like an intro i guess

Response to: Flash to Youtube? Posted April 16th, 2009 in Game Development

its pretty easy. Instead of converting the file after its made. When your making the SWF(exporting it), at the part well its asking what to name it. You can change the file type to AVI. in the drop-down menu under the naming space.

and yes, youtube does accept avi files

You may want to look up attachMovie() and removeMovieClip().
Then, use variables to keep track of whether an object has been moved or not (perhaps make the variable turn to 'true' after its respective object has been dragged or something).
Then use something like (pseudo-code):
if(clothes1dragged == false){
clothes1.removeMovieClip
}
...
if(clothes10dragged == false){
attachMovie("clothes10", "clothes10", getNextHighestDepth())
clothes10._x = 400
clothes10._y = 50
}

If you're feeling capable, you could use 'for' loops, and perhaps arrays.

Also, with attachMovie(), make sure to go into the library, right-click your piece of clothing, go to 'Linkage', and choose 'Export for Actionscript'.

Finally, an option to 'bin' clothes (make them go back to the selection menu and not stay on when the page is swapped) could be handy.

lol....i wouldnt have started this topic if i knew the actionscript would be that complicated. I mean, making a drag n drop dress up game was easy for me, cuz i searched it up and found that you apply one single code to each piece of clothing. Thats easy as shit.

but I barley know anything about actionscript, just the basics and whatnot.....lol, sorry

honestly, i hate dress-up games. that's just me, but i think i'm a majority on this one. very rarely do dress-up add-ons do anything but lower your score. and if you're sure you want to do this, a better solution might be to put all the tops, pants etc. together, then move it so you can see part of each. then, when one is clicked, move it to the forefront. hope that helps.

well im just putting this dress up game and some other mini game thing (havnt decided what else yet) like as extras. Just for whatever. And with some clothes they are grouped, but i think its better to have two pages, so that the player can see their options and whatnot instead of finding out after 5 min later of diggin(course im exagerating) that they have something cool

Anyway no one has answered my question yet lol. Is there a way to do this and how?

no i know your not trying to convince me. but i find that dress up games that have every piece of clothing all together and the screen is cluddered and whatnot. its just annoying looking through

plus some of these costumes are like Altair from assassins creed, link, and people like that, and i want the user to see them and be like "oh cool". if all the other costumes are surrounding it, the player wont see it unless he digs through

i mean thats the big reason for me though. but yah, im just wondering why itd be annoying

so in a game that Im starting to animate(later im gonna need an actionscripter) i thought i should put like 2 minigame things in the menu so that after they beat the game they have atleast SOMETHING else to do.

one of the mini games is a dress up game with the main character, and i am just wondering (since i dont have that much space and it looks bad when its cluttered) can you make it so there is another page of clothes, and when you switch to that page the clothes that were on the guy on the first page, stay on.

kinda confusing but for example: if i put on some clothes from page 1. Then switch to page 2. Can i make it so that the clothes from page 1 that are on the character stay on the character, as im browsing through page 2?

doesnt really matter though, but im just curious :P

Response to: Fight! Engine : Beta Posted April 13th, 2009 in Game Development

yes there definatly needs to be a stamina system. Also you should make (on the menu) free mode. Which is like what you have now(where you choose when to and how many enemies spawning) and then arcade mode or challenge mode or something when the enemys spawn randomly and get harder and whatnot

also there should be a grab move maybe it could be Q or something. But a move where you grab the enemy, and depending on what direction you press he does a different throw. (example: left arrow key - throws left, right arrow key - throws right, up arrow key - throws up in the air then catches him and slams him down on the ground...ect.)

another thing, as many people have said, there should be weapons
but (personally) i think there shouldnt be many guns, itd make it a bit too easy

i donno, those are just some suggestions. But for now its pretty damn awesome

I'm interested in doing this collab as I really need some sort of deadlined thing to force me to produce an animation. I've yet to complete one... but I know I can.

Anyways, heres my idea... Team Fortress 2 humor...

The kid and the Ananas are having a conversation in french- with blue-screened repeating lines and everything.

The engineer runs up, *sound clip* "There's a spy 'round here!".
Smacks the pineapple with his wrench.
Ananas turns out to be a spy with a pineapple mask on.

Stupid, easy, and hopefully fellow TF2 fans will find it entertaining (if its not overused)

Okay i ditched my old idea so if anyone wants one about the stoned creators of the show they can have it

but i have a newer one

the pineapple is saying like "yes for the freakin last time i am a talking pineapple!!!"
since they ask that like in a lot of episodes

then the plane comes and all you see is the top wing thingy, and the kid goes "oh ya that makes sense how the fence is bigger than the plane ya....god, this show is so low budget
then it goes blue screen "this show is so low budget" and hes like "WTF you didnt need to quote that?!"
then it shows the the plane pilot come out and its micheal jackson (BECAUSE SHE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE HIM!!) and hes like "hey ya'll" and the kid goes "why would the plane pilot be a f*cking puppet!?!?"
and micheal jackson says "well why do you think it crashed?"
then it goes blue screen for that
and the kid goes "thats it! I done! IM DONE!...this is F*cking redeculous" and walks out
and they are all silent then the girl just goes ".......tu es ananas?"
and the pineapple shoots her
:P

just giving a heads up,

Response to: Ananas collab! Posted March 17th, 2009 in Game Development

:the entire animation should be on a movieclip on the first frame

im a n00b when it comes to movieclips :P (dont judge me on that for my animation though)

so to make a movieclip, you just draw your character, convert to movieclip, double click, and put all the other layers and crap on that movie clip right?
