it's a starting point for building sites off the back of NG members with similar intentions. It's also a place to bannish popular threads in other sections (fighting for position in a last-post-first threaded BBS system)
sadly, the club section has been left to fester without edit buttons and a mechanisms to stop battling between 2 clubs that profess to represent the same topic or user groups (even if 1 was first, did the concept get abandoned? ..or merely fall over the front page for a day or two beofre someone thinks "OMG! there's no anti-clock club!? i mite jus start me own and be teh famous- heh!"
..naturally this leads to great spamming and wasted energy!!

too right! when this club section was started we were told that the founders would have the right to edit posts, essentially to mod their own clubs (a much needed feature imho)
..anyway on page_2 (before knowing of the Proboard forum which grows stronger every day) i posted a pic linking to my old DAG (backup) site, but now it's been replaced by much improved hosting, BBS, and latest DAG insignia.. long live Devil's Advocates of NG !!!!

rubbish! some places use adequate ventilaion with filters.
Countries spend billions of dollars fighting the effects of smoking, if you cut it out you will save money in the long run in health care costs, far more than what you loose from cigarette taxes.
Yeah, why don't we ban all alcohol and military spending (that would save dollars/lives too) ..then e can all sit at home drinking puree'd cabbage listening to classical music </get real>
At 10/15/03 04:49 AM, True-Lies wrote: Yes, someone must recruit a good flash artist into the PC or the DAG so that this damn movie could be made already!... Oh well, dosen't concern me anywayy... *sigh*
the key word in that sentence is ARTIST. You have to realize that the Chubby Devil isn't even NG original!
Funk knows there's a good script writer and programmer in the mix already, but Shrike or Foka are the best two artists (we/they) have. i'm getting close having done pixel editing for about a year now - weak on flash animation, but strong on programed vector designs - which isn't so useful for a movie ;)
It's also hard to "get creative" sometimes :(_haven't had a smoke in over a year) ..yeah, my best art of years past was done under the "inspiration" of weed ..otherwise it's very cyclic mood swings; "sometimes you have it, sometimes you don't" (..that's if it's not already your natural profession) ..meanwhile trying to be jack-of-all-trades for lack of a team structure.
So when you feel the mood you tell ppl "yay! movie coming.." then something comes along, usually "real life and depression", then creativity flys out the window. Sitting down to make a movie sometimes feels like so much hard work, when it's really supposed to be for fun, both in the watching and the making!
On top of that, NG batting average throws a "perfectionist spanner" in the works.. (I've had enough ppl say my first game engines were crap to put me off submitting)
Right now thou i'm putting together a new Chubby Devil Insignia and DAG site-design (yes, proboards has it's limitations ;) ..but if Jonas make some FLAs and posts about it on there, least we'll all get an email notification :)_unlike this NG club thread!!
Cheers Jonas!

Bucket of water sells for £255
More than 20,000 people visited the site during the seven-day auction which closed on Friday evening.
A total of 33 bids were received for the "fabulous bucket of Bristol tap water".
Bristol Water has said it will top up the fund with £200 towards the cause - the charity's water project in Sudan.
A week ago the bidding reached £1,220 but the auction had to be restarted after being mistakenly shut down.
A customer support worker on the eBay site was unaware of the wide publicity surrounding the charity sale and thought it was a hoax.
Mr Kelly, 31, who when the story broke was known only as "juss01" or "Bucketman", said his original intention had been to see if people really would buy anything.

How exactly does it benefit Iraq to have all their systems destroyed, then rebuilt by the same people that gratuitously destroyed the infrastructure in the first place?
..it's a 20 Billion dollar debt largely wasted on expensive American (disguised) corporate development.. which will be rapaid in black-gold for as many years as the oil keeps pumping from the Iraqi desert.
It's the fastest way America can claim that all Iraqi oil is owed them, and not just the Chinese or Russians whoz prepaid contracts are thus automatically voided.
Screw the Iraqis over before giving them control over their own finances is the name of the game!!

ok, first about family ties;
"George W. Bush's grandfather helped finance the Nazi Party.
The Bush family ties to the Nazi party are well known. In their 1994 Secret War Against the Jews, Mark Aarons and John Loftus use official US documents to establish that George Herbert Walker, George W. Bush's maternal great-grandfather, was one of Hitler's most important early backers. He funneled money to the rising young fascist through the Union Banking Corporation.
In 1926, Walker arranged to have his new son-in-law, Prescott Bush---father of President George Bush I, grandfather of George Bush II---hired as Vice President at W.A. Harriman and Company. Prescott became a senior partner when Harriman merged with a British-American investment company to become Brown Brothers Harriman. In 1934 Prescott Bush joined the Board of Directors of Union Banking.
The bank helped Hitler rise to power. It also helped him wage war. As late as July 31, 1941---well after the Nazi invasion of Poland---the U.S. government froze $3 million in Union Banking assets linked to Fritz Thyssen. Thyssen was noted in the American press as a "German industrialist and original backer of Adolph Hitler." "
..now i haven't heard Bush denounce anyone but those that his own father's government also funded, armed, and trained, with weapons and secret intelligence to fight against Russia and Iran.
As for Arnie, i've only heard him say in no uncertain terms (ABC interveiw just before the election) that "I totally denounce what Hitler stood for, I totallty denounce what the Nazi party stood for, and I totally denounce what the Third Reich stood for"
That, to anyone, is as clear as can be stated. What are you suggesting? ..that Arnie is somehow Anti-Semitic??
And i don't understand the "set out to do" or "told to do" stuff either.. Psuedoname, could you elaborate.
it's got that anarchist appeal for sure, but the rural life is not just lazing in the Sun..
McGillicutty Serious party leaders suggest "that we maximise inefficiency to create more employment."
They certainly have a Devil's Advocate logic that's agreeable :)
we have another party that is a contender for the prize for world's funniest party - it's been standing in elections for some 30 years...
"McGillicuddy Serious Party (NZ's own Scottish Monarchist Regressionists) intent in re-establishing the Jacobite line to supreme executive office, then disassembling all the trappings of modern technology (internal combustion engines, guttering systems, Unix, etc) and living a life of pastoral, clan-oriented bliss. Candidates generally wear scottish kilts or other wearable arts.
Some people really don't take them SERIOUS?!! ..so hence the name :) There was some concern that they had disbanded late in 1999. Here's an excerpt;
"The Party has written to the Electoral Commission, stating it's wish to be deregistered on the last stroke before midnight on 31 December 1999, in preparation for the coming apocalypse. It is believed that in ceasing to exist in this form, at this time, the aims of the party will be best served, as we stand on the brink of the total collapse of the world itself..
It is believed that the party will be the first ever to deregister under New Zealand law, and encourages all other parties and politicians to abandon central government in a similar fashion, before the end of next year.
Voters are encouraged to return to their homes, and prepare for the coming Great Leap Backwards, which will now occur without the benefit of a directed McGillicuddy Leadership. We urge everyone to remember that there is enough food to make sure everyone is fed, and that rioting need only be done to secure those consumer items that will cease to be available with the collapse of the modern world.
Jah only to save us now."
get drunk.. least then you can feel legitimately worse in the morning ;)
..i did some fundraising for them, selling raffle-tickets, 1st prize was a trip to Amsterdam to be 1 of the Judges in the Cannibis Cup (..that's what you call "thinking laterally" :)_*

i think it's a great victory over PC madness of recent decades (political correctness gone krazy)
It's a victory for smokers rights.
It's a victory for gun lobbyists.
It's a victory for big fossil-fuel guzzling vehicles.
It's a victory for masculinity and femininity.
It's a victory for personality over pedantics.
It's a victory for wealth and philanthropy.
It's a victory for the hollywood dreamfactories.
It's a victory for the global cultural melting pot and youth-culture.
It's a victory for can-do kickass-ness.
you don't even have to agree half of these issues to still appreciate the momentous swing this will have on the global conciousness, and on the rest of this decade which had started off so very very badly for so very many people.
to be honest, it's the best news the world has had for quite a while! :)

gotta luv Moore's approach thou..
"We always say it was committed by a "Arab terrorists" or by an "Islamic fundamentalist", but we never define Osama by his rightful title: multi-millionaire. Why have we never read a headline saying, "3,000 Killed by multi-millionaire"?
It would be a correct headline, would it not?
Osama has assets totalling at least $30m; he is a multi-millionaire. So why isn't that the way we see this person, as a rich fuck who kills people?
Why didn't that become the reason for profiling potential terrorists? Instead of rounding up suspicious Arabs, why don't we say, "OMG! a multi-millionaire killed 3,000 people! Round up the multi-millionaires! Throw them all in jail! No charges! No trials! Deport all the millionaires!!"
LOL!!

GREEN - LUG (liberal) ..pro-weed, etc.

*turns DAG light on*
so if my interest is in world domination, then evil is anyone who tries to stop me, right?!
i left it a little obscure, maybe because your essay has done similar.
take this paragraph;
At 10/5/03 09:11 PM, Lyddiechu wrote:
"Machiavelli argues that Christian morality always leads to an advantage for one’s enemies. Mercy, forgiveness, and hesitance in dealing with an opponent given one’s enemy time to regroup and strike, causing the chaos and bloodshed one hoped to avoid by being “moral” in the first place. A wise politician strikes quickly and judiciously, treating the enemy as if it were a disease, for, as Machiavelli states; “when one recognizes from afar the evils that arise in a state..."
..when we read this in today context we naturally compare it with pre-9'11 and post-9'11 events.
We know that GW Bush likes to think of himself as some great christian leader, doing God's work, fighting Evil wherever he (Bush) points his finger.
But by our view it might not be God's Will to seek vengence and retribution ..at least the Bible states this quite clearly! Bush doesn't even claim to be following God's direct orders. It's more like the "them and us" but from a hawkish government's priviledged standpoint .."We're the good guys", "We're fighting off evil forces" ..but as Machiavelli states something like; EVIL (to a non-Cristian) is whatever we say is EVIL ..and what we say is EVIL (which suits our purpose becuase WE view ourselves as the GOOD GUYS) ..which means we're reacting out of self-interest ..which can now be labelled "pre-emptive self-preservation".
Put another way. One group's moral beliefs will not always equate to another groups morality standpoint. It does not make either group less or more religious. It's purely an ethical difference, which leads to a greater conflict of interest!
Suddenly the two opposing sides start fighting, each in the name of their personal Gods or belief systems. But what Machiavelli doesn't suggest (as a non-Christian) is that neither side can really claim or proove themselves to be more righteously or more morally superior. This will always be subjective, as it comes down to each personal interpretation or right and wrong, which pretty much always aligns with self-interest anyways.
See, it's hard to describe non-religious beliefs in plain english :-/
