Funk was on the money as usual. As soon as you noticed you were banned i unbanned you to find you didn't want to come back so i rebanned the account for security. Again none of that would have happened if we had an automated system like NG.

Just curious though; do you also agree that the chances of both groups amalgamating is out of the question? Having established ourselves without needing to push any social stance, that we would hold firm our ground and continue mopping up unaffiliated members with an eye on the future.. If we amalgamated, then some other group who opposed some or any of our members would start up to fill the any void.

Actually, my lost reply was about demarcation between the groups. Despite truces and dual-membership (Avie is the 1st to get full dual-membership) there is still some kinda totally imaginary political fence between us, even if it's got nothing to do with any kinda political spectrum divide.

We all know Shrike has done as much for both groups as anyone, and would feel he deserves a reason.. hey, NG has email notification of "reason for ban" ..to be honest, they are nice features to have if your site can do them!

i'm not hiding either.. i just wrote up a long reply then suddenly it vanished and i couldn't retrieve it. Just found out that the 2 buttons below this post window function differently. The [Clear] button asks "are you sure?" but the [Reset] button doesn't.

There seems to be a control R or something that activates it. I tried control R and it went and posted my test.. anyone else found this a problem? Maybe liljim needs to know about it.

There's 1 part of the equation that is casually overlooked when it comes to victimless crime - crime being defined as something very black and white - you're breaking the law or not.. It's when governments introduce harsher penalties for even minor offences, like "3 strikes and you're out", then society adjusts and stigmatises petty criminality accordingly.

Say smoking w33d is your thing, and you do it in the quiet of you own home (or at least outside if there are children or non-smokers present) ..then that's your business, right!?

If you're caught doing it and get a police record then it could (in some cases) cost you your job.. --so you become the victim.

If you got caught doing it again then it's obviously gonna cost you a heap in fines or worse.. --if you are poor then you are an even greater victim for your repeated stupidity.

If you got caught a 3rd time and imprisoned for any considerable time.. --then your friends, colleages, and family, especially one's husband/wife or children become the victims.

If you get gang raped in prision then "the punishment fits the crime".. --you deserve to be the victim of your own causing.

"..if you do the crime, you do the time!" ..but there's always a victim.

Society just doesn't want to consider whether the effects of punishment are worse than the crime itself. That's where the real significance of something being actually "victimless" needs to be weighted against the consequences of the act.

But most of our juridicial systems have no mechanism for doing this. That's the REAL CRIME!!!
