(it's an ear-eye brain-hormone reflex - so thank goodness we don't yet have "smell-a-vision" ;O)
And mostly it's the over-processing of natural foods into molecules that our bodies can't then in turn process correctly. The best example is margarine, which (in most cases) is an oil that has been hydogenated with gases which produces "bad fats" or transfats - basically they are plastics by any normal definition (which explains why they require coloring and flavouring!) Some countries (like here in NZ - starting from December 2002) are introducing new labelling regimes which force these companies to specify if they've used such processes. For U.S. citizens i'd suggest go to http://www.congress.org and write or email your representatives about your local food labelling requirements. Basically, become FOOD SAVVY is best!!
