I think that was a good speech. This is how I would sum it up.
1. No matter what medium or what tool you use, the story will eventually reassert itself. When a medium or a tool is new, you can mesmerize the audience and do well with a terrible story. Eventually, people get used to the tools and demand better stories. So, focus on the story, not the package.
2. Experiment. Use any medium or tool you want to use. There is no reason to limit yourself or your art.
3. If you do not innovate, eventually you will fail. Use new tools as they become available. Do not wed yourself to one method.
4. Differentiate your product. Do not do what everyone else is doing. Tell a different type of story and tell it a different way.
5. Do what makes you happy. Tell the story you want to tell. Tell it the way you want to tell it. Work for yourself, not some corporation.
I think that is about it. I say that it is good advice.
