I am curious about collections. I know that submissions must be suggested by users in order to get into a collection. Must a submission be suggested a certain number of times before it is reviewed? Who reviews these suggestions? Any answers would be most appreciated.

P.S. I read the FAQs and I searched the BBS for the topic "collection." If I missed the answers to my questions, I apologize.

What about this. A person is following you yelling insults and death threats and does not stop. They never go on your property and never touch your and take out a weapon. Are they just using free speech?

Harassment is complicated. Harassment must be clearly defined. Otherwise, it could become an excuse for censorship.

I think you guys should wait a few years and then think about making a sequel. You will be better artists and programmers and the technology will be better. It would be very popular. Please think about it.

By the way, I would like to thank you for Newgrounds Rumble. It is a great game. I know you worked very hard on it. I hope we do not sound ungrateful when we ask for more. Thank you.

No seriously.

Patisanship is meant to be part of the system. It slows down the process and makes it harder for the dominant faction to violate the rights of the people. Getting rid of partisanship entirely renders moot the two-party system and would allow the dominant faction much more room to make stupid decisions.

That's a pretty fucking poorly kept secret.

Israel really wants that knowledge public. Israel has its own version of Mutual Assured Destruction, called the Samson Option. If Muslim armies invade Israel, and Israel cannot stop them, it will fire nuclear weapons into Mecca, Damascus, Medina and a host of other major Muslim cities. During this time, it will undertake a last ditch effort to evacuate via the Mediterranean. I know that is off-topic, but I thought someone might find it interesting.

America was not always hated. In fact, before WWII, America was loved. America was a nation of peaceful merchants, not conquerors like the Europeans. Latin America appreciated the Monroe Doctrine, which protected them from European domination. China loved America because America returned the indemnity China payed to it after the Boxer Rebellion. America said definitively that it would not fight for money. America also supported the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of China with the Open Door Policy. Nations sought America to preside over negotiations and to judge desputes because America was known for fairness. Arabs loved America because we opposed European imperialism in the Middle East. America's allies in WWI certainly loved us. It is ludicrous to say that America has always been hated.

Topic: Worst Congress?

Posted: 06/23/08 12:32 PM

Americans, especially progressives, are shocked by the gridlock in Congress. They think the system must be broken. The Founding Fathers designed the federal system so that the more stuff you try to do quickly, the more resistance you face. Congressmen are trying to rush bills through so that they can get credit for supporting change. There should be calm deliberations, not an emotional dash to get something done. The Founding Fathers designed the system to prevent politicians from passing sweeping legislation before we had a chance to consider it. Simply put, gridlock is a natural part of the Republic, meant to protect our rights from unthinking, overzealous politicians.

Topic: What is the limit of "free speech"?

Posted: 06/23/08 12:22 PM

Forum: Politics

First, I do not think that the federal government has any authority to limit free speech. The First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech..." It goes without saying then that the executive and judicial branch cannot define or restrict the freedom of speech.

The states and local governments have limited authority to restrict the freedom of speech. I still can only conceive of very few circumstances in which speech should be limited. Disturbing the peace obviously should be restricted. Obvious harassment and intimidation should be banned. There should be very little, if any, censorship of political viewpoints, even if they are racist. Booing at an event by no means should be banned.

An important part of freedom is self-control. We should not yell obscenities or preach hatred, etc. If we want to preserve Liberty, we should act with a decent respect for others.

Precisely. YOU think.

It is hard to argue when there are no parameters. I just stated my opinion, the same way he stated his.

Then why do socialist nations take an unfair percentage of income and goods sold from the people?
I'm not talking about socialism. I'm talking about slightly more poverty support programs. The rich don't need any more help.
The debate is not between helping the poor or helping the rich. Almost no one would support helping the rich.
Obviously, you have not been here long enough.

Not here long enough? Where do you mean? I was born in America. I also happen to be no younger than you.

I was not quite precise. I apologize. I meant that almost no one would defend helping the rich. Plenty of people support aid to the rich. Otherwise, there would not be so much of it.

The debate is between government redistribution of wealth or no government redistribution of wealth.
The debate is between equality and efficiency, which is only based on opinions, on values. Therefore, it is futile as a debate.

Equality versus efficiency is effectively the same as government redistribution of wealth or no government redistribution of weath. Redistribution of wealth is the means by which governments promote equality. Furthermore, we can argue the effectiveness of welfare programs. We can argue the principles behind welfare. It is by no means a futile debate.

Topic: Police mistrust

Posted: 06/22/08 07:26 PM

Forum: Politics

Police are out-of-control. They are conditioned to think of themselves as different from the general population, and to think of citizens as "the enemy."

Where I live, every bit of drug evidence was stolen by policeman in late 2007. Cops and their families put square, black stickers with a horizontal bar of blue in the middle on their cars so that other cops won't bother them.

One cop was dealing drugs to my neighbor who is a fireman while my neighbor was suspended for molesting my 11-year-old retarded brother with William's Syndrome about two years ago. When my family had an electrical fire in my house, my neighbors friends in the Fire and Police Departments tried to frame my other younger brother with arson. I think that alone is enough reason to distrust policemen.

What really made me distrust policemen was a few years ago, a man pulled out of a fastfood drive-thru the wrong way. A police car started chasing him down the highway. They struck and killed a pregnant woman whose car broke down on the side of the rode. The cop effectively committed a hit-and-run murder because a man came out of a drive-thru the wrong way.

Then, I keep discovering innocent people murdered by policemen. Men, women and children tasered to death, killed by "nonlethal" bean-bag or tear-gas guns, run down by speeding police cars, or shot.

It is a well-known fact in my city that the policemen lie to and intimidate residents. They take advantage of immigrants or ignorant minorities. Policemen will lie to these people, telling them that they have to consent to searches when they do not, or that they have to answer questions when they do not. One of their favorite tricks is to tell someone that they have a warrant, and then search areas not covered in the warrant or seize property not described in the warrant.

Police are a necessary evil. I am disgusted by the corruption and uncontrolled violence displayed by the police. There should be more restraint and more oversight in law enforcement.

A freeway?

A freeway sounds very cool. Moving cars or trucks could be used as platforms. Getting hit by cars or trucks could cause damage, like the bombs in the Wartorn arena and the garbage compactor in the Junkyard arena. I think it would feel different from the other arenas. Good suggestion.

I think it would be cool to have a contest to design new arenas. It would get users involved in making the game, possibly save the authors some time and probably turn up some good ideas that would not be found otherwise. What do you guys think?
