Response to: Ebay Flash Game Listings Posted September 3rd, 2006 in Game Development

K... I've been looking into this issue and I have found that it is technically legal for that company to sell your .swf games if there not copyrighted. Probably most of your games or movies are not copyrighted. As a result the owner of that website can do something very moraly wrong.

BUT if you would like to copyright you games or movies without the hassle of a lawyer

http://www.copyright..register/visual.html
(i think that should be the one)

I would only sugest using it for very good games that probably everyone would steal. This is because it costs 45$ to copyright it alone.

This would prevent any other website from stealing your work, and if it continues you would actually be able to sue.

heres another link on just property rights

hmmm... is alien homminid a trademarked character???

I mean... he does have his own videogame

cause if he is... that website is violating trademark regulations, or whatever there called.

Response to: Rusty collaboration Posted September 2nd, 2006 in Game Development

gothic... I usually like your collaborations... But i dont like the idea of this one.

This to me seems like something that only a few people will really get credit for, when many people use work from that they did on their own before this idea came out. (Capitalizing on someone elses work)

Your 30 minute collabs were cool because people made animations specifically for that. But now your asking people take work you made last year, give it to me, let me put it in a movie, let me get the "main" credit, and then... finally you might not even get a co-author spot.

make sense?

Response to: 30 min collab 4 Posted August 29th, 2006 in Game Development

Response to: Displaying a Webpage? Posted August 28th, 2006 in Game Development

At 8/28/06 04:13 PM, United_Assault wrote: Technically you could, you just load the page into the .swf file. It would be a pain in the ass to navigate.

he means thats it is possible to display a webpage by basically recreating it in flash.(i think) Its not impossible to remake a website. You could first boil it down to the basics, take a screen shot, import that, then add whatever you want. All you really need to do is add your own text, and make invisible buttons for the links.

it would take a long time though

... the thank god was because it was back... not because i thought it was never comming back

sorry for double post

Response to: If you don't know:Joe Zombie 6 out! Posted August 25th, 2006 in Game Development

yea i was blow away too...

I've actually been a fan of the series since the first one came out. I was an active member of sticksuicide.com and this was the thing that got me interested in animation myself, but then after 5 came out, it seemed everything fell apart. Sticksuicide closed down, and #6 looked as if it was never comming back. THANK GOD

EXTENDED DUE DATE

Response to: Altering Time Collaboration Posted August 19th, 2006 in Game Development

well... Im pretty sure this is dead. But just in case, deadline is at 11:59.....

just letting everyone know

Response to: Flash for School Posted August 17th, 2006 in Game Development

hmmm... flash in school

sadly its not a program many people know about where I live. So whenever I get a chance for flash in a project (which is not often) I always do because the effect it gives is outstanding. While everyone does shitty powerpoints or posters. I make games, animations, powerpoint type stuff and can add many interesting bonuses. currently I have probably made 4-8 flash things for school, and I believe all have turned out at 95% or better.... including a final

Response to: Altering Time Collaboration Posted August 16th, 2006 in Game Development

HEY AGAIN EVERYBODY!!!!

The deadline is comming fast, so I feel it is necessary that you all get my email address before the deadline is due. My email that you should send all the movies to ( if anyone is actually still participating) is
------------------------------
jorncar@gmail.com
------------------------------
I hope to actually see some movies on saturday... and remember, all movies must be with a movie clip, movie clips must be named uniquely, and you must break all fonts

Also I though since the deadline is so close I might as well so you might 95% finished movie

Response to: Altering Time Collaboration Posted August 12th, 2006 in Game Development

anyone still here?...lol

Response to: Altering Time Collaboration Posted August 10th, 2006 in Game Development

new dead line!!!!

august 19, 11:59 pm

this is the final date.

good luck to everyone, and have fun with the extra week

Response to: Altering Time Collaboration Posted August 9th, 2006 in Game Development

the topic is general for a reason.

the theme is altering time, the rest is up to your creative mind,

in my movie, I slow down time.... I think in other peopls movies they might change the current timeperiod, screw with time (pause, fastfoward, slowdown etc), or you could even go to be as creative as a kid playing a joke on another person by moving a clocks hands to the wrong time.
As long as your movie contains some sort of "alteration of time", you should be good

i guess you could still join now too because i think you will now have 10 days instead of 3 because of the possible deadline extension

good luck i guess :P

atleast someone responded in the thread :P

well, it seems a lot of people need extensions, and for that... I might add 1 week to the deadline.

I will let everyone know tommarow what the final deadline will be

yea I cant wait to see how this turns out too.... I know that my part is almost done, but I dont know about everone else

Response to: Altering Time Collaboration Posted August 8th, 2006 in Game Development

k the deadline is comming near, and I am uncertain on how the completion of this project is comming with other authors.

if we want to extend this deadline I need to hear from some of you, so post in the thread, or send me a private message if you think you need extra time, if you dont, it would be nice if you posted that too

peace

Response to: Altering Time Collaboration Posted August 4th, 2006 in Game Development

ok... I've been hearing that a lot of people are running into conflicts on the due date. I just wanted to hear from everyone to see how there comming along, and If they think they will need more time.

If more time is needed for a bunch of people I might have to extend this due date.

also !!!!

to all those people who didnt jump in on this collab before becuase they thought they didnt have enough time, you might want to think about it, because u might just get 1 more extra week to make something :P

thats all...

peace

Response to: xiao xiao trail of shadow alpha AC Posted August 4th, 2006 in Game Development

this is what you do....

select all the frames of the character animations

add 2 layers...

4 frames after the start of the main character animation paste the frames... highlight all the frames... (i forgot what the name of the button you need to press, but its right by the onion skin button) then make the alpha 60 %
then do the same thing but even more over on the time line agian.... make the alpha 30% and you should be done
