I think we can all agree that mistakes took part on both sides, the officer should definitely present himself as a police officer if he's not wearing his uniform, but you don't mess with the cops, you do what they want and don't argue. they have all the power and will get away with whatever they do so you might just as well play along.

Since we don't know all the details, we can't really say whether or not this was racial profiling, so what if it was ? An officer has every right to stop people randomly to make sure that nobody has a stolen vehicule, right ? (frankly, I'm not sure about this)

I was thinking about the whole terrorism thing, and I noticed that the terrorists are always the underdogs of history, they are always on what seems as to be the losing side against an 'oppressing' state.

I don't think the cause of this conlfict is about who's territory Israel is, I think its about the clash of two extremist religious societies. when they say Israel backed out of Lebanon like it's a holy gift and then they get attacked is totally out of place. They don't mention why they invaded Lebanon. It's because they got a few rockets in the fields on their side of the line, so they 'had' to invade the whole place.

Besides our income tax rates are decent. We are less than most European tax rates and not that much higher than the US.

That might be true if you live in Alberta, but if you combine Province + Federal, you get a bunch. Here in Québec, we're about 50 % in total.

I liked the whole idea of the coalition, it gave Québec more power, plus all the bashing from these western yahoos just gave us independantists a hell of a boost.

To get back to space travel and colonization (yep, that's how it's spelled), the main problem would be communication, right now we use radio frequencies, we will need stronger than that to keep contact with our colonies without a houndred years delay, I mean there's about a 1 second delay between Washignton DC and Bangkok, now imagine Houston with a planet 200 light years away !

The first person to be 'insulted' will always be the first to react.
Example: the muslim community of a certain country will be the first to react if a group of people or media insults their beleifs, and from there the reaction will spread internationally. The North American were the first to react to 9/11, and then the news spread to the whole world.

In the case of a multyplanetary exchanges the 'blast radius' will faint over time and space so people on the other side of the galaxy won't even hear about the incident.

On another point, I don't really think you should care about something that happens somewhere in the Murmansk peninsula, simply because its too far away to really touch you.

There is also another aspect of drugs, it is a international industry. So as an industry, its product is under the laws of economics, such as offer and demand. So legalisation of drugs would open the door to a closer control of prices and quality of the product, which isn,t the case. Since the state doesn't regulate it, its free for all, everyone could make some in their own basement, and that could result in a product that is very costly ( because of the risks involved in creating/imporing such product ) but with a discutable quality, which could result in intoxication.

So, control is vital for the protection of the user, so there should be some organization that regulates it to ensure a proper market price and quality. Legalize to control better, that's my opinion.

Firstly, every human being should have the right to medical treatments if they need it.
Secondly, I frankly beleive that welfare should be runned by the government, why ? because if every American citizen is equal ( in theory at least ), it has the right to the same treatment as another citizen.

Private welfare isn't a bad idea in itself, the only problem is that it is runned like the buisness it has become. the companies seek profit, not the well being of its users.

The State, on the counterpart seek only to be reelected, so that the citizens are happy and functional to the society.

We already know public welfare works, just look at France, Sweden, Ukrania and Canada, they go pretty well don't they ?

what you say there shows that you never lived on a mediocre $30 000 salary, i'm not going to explain it in detail because the living cost changes some a state to another but it is very difficult to pay for a $50 000 heart implant when its your annual salary.

Healthcare should be regulated by the people and not by companies, because companies want to make money, end of the line. Insurence companies will ripe you off if you get sick, and they will never be assured again ( you cost to much), no company will assure their employees, why give money to those money pits ?

this is why the State should take care of its people, like in Canada, France, Sweden, Finland, Danemark and other countries.
