Well, for beat mixing and turntable stuff it is. But you said you wanted to make techno and stuff. So it probably wouldn't be very good for that. Although, I've never used it.
Many muscians use Fruity Loops as a starter because it is easy to learn. It's also a really great program.
There are ways to get it. Like buying it. The basic version is like, $40(?) I think. Not that bad. If you can play the piano you would really benefit from purchasing a MIDI Keyboard. I use an Evolution MK-449C which is pretty great. That was about $175. It also came with a bunch of crap that I don't even use, so if you were to purchase JUST a MIDI Keyboard with no fancy shmancy stuff, it would cost alot less.

Did anyone watch The War of the Worlds/Batman/Wedding Chrasher's I want to know if I should bother seeing them in theatres or should I just wait until they come out on dvd?
War of the worlds was a good idea, but there were alot of flaws in the story. That stuff bothers me.

People here in Texas tell me that I have a nice style with my beats, so I've finally decided to share with a larger community. Problem is I want to get alot more exposure than I'm currently getting. (Don't We All Though?) . When ppl are puttin together mixtapes, demos, etc in Texas My Beats don't stay on my keyboard long at all. I know its not a fluke that everyone that has heard my music liked it, So Its Just my time to shine and I'm doin everything in my power to spread the disease that is my music to world. Its all coming together I even have a girl from London who wrote an R&B song to one of my Non-Exclusive beats already. Its happening little by little but hopefully I'll be able to use the exposure I get here and be able to help other small producers like myself when I finally launch my site for producers like myself.
www.ProducersUnited.com
Its a great idea thats in development
Wow, man. I congratulate you. You got it going on! So awesome. Posting a link to your samples sure will bring a few more people to your music. Great idea! Somewhere down the line I plan on doing something like this after I learn a little more about being a producer. I'll check up on what you have planned on your website!
ahahaha I added lyrics to this song. You guys gotta check it out. You don't have to bother writing a review or nothin....I jsut want someone to hear it.
It's fucking cool...and I'm not one to compliment my music.

for starters, get an SM-58. it's the industry standard; gives you good quality, and you can use it as a baseball bat and it won't break (don't try that at home...). you can pick one up for a little more than $50 at a Guitar Center (never pay list price!).
that is all. cheers an g'day.

I was going to suggest thie same thing. I don't own one, but I've done some stuff with it in school. They have a really great Frequency response for lead vocals. Also, they are cheap. And using it as a baseball bat isn't a huge exageration! They have the sound I like, but I know there are better ones. Personally, I'd give it a 9/10.
The brand is Shure.... SHURE SM-58 find more info on it here.
There is also a good microphone called the Electro-Voice 635A. Really durable. You can purchase it for around $100. It's used mainly for live interviews and such; Field recording. It has high frequency responce from 1500Hz-10kHz so your voice sounds alot clearer. 9/10 also.
It's all a matter of preference my friend. All microphones are awesome for specific things. Seriously....It's all a amtter of preferance. Me rating them doesn't really help. You should try them out yourself. All you really gotta do is go to some place like Guitar Center and test out a bunch of microphones and see what sounds the best to you.
Good luck yo.

I have a Cd full of .wav samples of 8-bit/lo-fi beats that i would like to use in Reason. I stick the cd in, I create a new NN-XT Advanced Sampler in Reason and i go to find the afore-mentioned loops. When i open up the directory where the loops are, nothing is there. I dont understand why is .wav not the right format?. Any help please, am I doin something fundementally wrong?
take a look at this picture. First you probably want to save all of your sounds onto your computer (maybe). Make a new NN-XT device, then click the arrow, and then load a sample. A new file will come up under G samples. You can doo that as many times as you want. The long bar spanning uner the keys is what keys respond to the sound. So, if you want to move a sound father down the piano, make sure and rotate the root key knob accordingly so you'll keep its pitch.
If you want to load another sample, make sure and deselect the previous one, otherwise it will override it. =)
It's a pretty cheap thing if you ask me. It gets the job done, and that's about it. That's why I bought it. haha.
IWell, I'm going to just use Audacity to record, and then import the .wav file into the NN-XT device in reason and tamper with it. I plan on getting recycle pretty soon.
I found out that if I plug my guitar directly into fast track then it will record (very quietly). When I plug it in from my amp there is no sound at all. NONE. blah, I don't understand.
Is anyone familiar with M-Audio's USB device Fast Track? It has 1 hook up for guitar and one for a mic.
Anyways, I'm having problems using it. I'm certain that I installed everything correctly, but no sound comes out, I set my audio properties to record from "M-Audio Device" with no luck. The signal on the unit itself doesn't even light up when I play guitar.
Any suggestions? I've read through the manual and numerous things online with nothing on the mater.
Woah...I've seen these before, but I thought it was jsut for games and such. haha, hook this up with Pitch bend and modulation and shit....man that would be fucking cool!!!
What's the MIDI Controller are you using?

Just messing with you.....
Uhm, go ahead and listen to my tunes, see what you think. I don't care what you do with them.
When converting to mp3, convert to a lower Kbps.
Ever download an Mp3? Ever notice that the smaller the Kbps, the smaller the file? Yup yup.
So, download one of those Wav to MP3 converters, and convert to probably 128 Kbps.
It's a big taboo. No it isn't a sin.
