Self ownership for those who are opposed to the system.
Being involved in this community has great benefits. Imagine being in a country or a place where political or economic stability collapses. Now you either move or stay there and die. If you know some one some where else who happens to live in a place doing better then the current community you live in (or nation) well you can use this connection to get you out of the mess. If you know no one else no where else, well I guess you are stuck and going to be held hostage to your local circumstances. I my self am a good example of this. Where I used to live the the economy went to shit after the factories closed up and even finding a job as a busboy was considered a pipe dream. Because I knew family else where, well I had some one I could move in with, used that connection to get a job and now things are better. If I didn't know any one, I would still be back at home broke and with no job with the other losers in the unemployment line. My idea expands on this on creating a mobile community that usually goes where the opportunities are best. Many people were homeless after Katrinia. Those who knew people else where where not the ones left in the cold. Forming a mobile community to me would be a greater safety net then being on your own. Once again its not what you know, its who you know.

These days there are not but in the ancient times they were. May it be colonies in the persian empire or may it be through mercenary bands. Not to mention that did have to travel some one to conquer the ancient world when Alexander was in charge. No travel equals no conquering. The dark ages were not over until greek culture came back to Europe due to the problem of the Islamic empires round it at the time caused the remnants of the eastern empire to finally collapse. They came back and with their culture and ideas ended the dark ages.

So even when Greeks were on the move, it had a long lasting effect on the western world.

And Judaism may be a religion, but its a religion of jewish people, who happen to be a culture.

Well its not going to be a culture of people who camp out were ever they may be. May a culture of people who share the same values and culture and form a community where ever they go. More like your next door neighbor who lived in the States for few years and happened to live in various other places over their life time and plans to keep traveling. You get along with him and he don't cause trouble, well same idea here.

As for getting passports and what not, that would be easily solved due to the connections you would receive by being part of the group. This would make it easier to get a job, and knowing people to stay with, which happens to be a requirement in many immigration policies. Not to mention a community who is experienced in gaining such things will have an easier time figuring out how to get them and teach others how to do so then those who go it alone. And for those who are interested be be hired full time to sort out such problems any ways. When I come up with ideas, I usually come up with ways to confront that problems that may pop up and immigration is those I thought about.

As for setup, im thinking of using the techno nomad set up. Which means forming a tight online community of people who share the same interests (travel) and use each other as a resources in help finding a job, a place to live and what not over seas or where the person may wish to travel to and keep each other informed about what business opportunities may exist in various places..

Ah but here is an idea to substitute your nation's government while you globetrot in protest. Form a borderless nation, a diaspora if you will with others who feel the same as you do.

In history there have been many cultures who went into exile and ended up outliving the nation and culture they left in the first place or even gaining loads of influence later on in history. The ancient greeks are a good example, (who were either mercenaries, scholars or colonists in others parts of the world in their time. From the Greek isles to the Byzantine to the Renaissance which was started by Greek scholars in exile when the eastern roman empire finally collapsed) The Jews are another good example. They survived almost every culture and empire since from their beginning and have spread their beliefs and ended up influencing the belief structure of the entire western and the midle eastern hemisphere (chirstianity, to islam and various other religions who can trace their roots back to Judaism.)

So the idea here is form a nation of people as a form of protest to get those in power to pay attention and a shot at making a nation that will form and influence other nations and cultures down the road.
Plus you get to travel and see the world like you always wanted to do with like minded people and doing it this way is a hell lot cheaper and less bloody then a violent uprising.

I would turn the tax system into a voluntary tax system with incentives to get people to pay taxes. The beauty of this? It adds more disposable income to the average citizen, thus boosting the economy and would generate more revenue.

Say what? Take the the state lottery. People have given up their whole life savings in order to get a chance at the jack pot. Here in Vegas, much of the gaming industry is highly taxes and many people all over the world come here to contribute to the local county coffers. When you offer people a chance at getting something in return for paying they are more likely to give until it hurts in hopes of getting the price. Plus offer services to the average citizen they have to pay as they go. Water, military, police and fire protection and the such would be billed to citizens. If you dont pay, no service you get. Not to mention the agency to collect and account for the taxes would be small, which means more money left over for government purposes due to less overhead of employees to collect the taxes in the first place. When taxes are mandatory, people do all they can to pay the minimum or get out of paying all together Make a give and take system, not just a take and take system and use psychological incentives to entice people to pay. Las Vegas casinos are masters at enticing people to voluntary shell out money and look how it made the city prosper. The US government could learn such a lesson and pick up such tricks and ideas.
If this is not possible, at the very least have a flat tax. A federal sales tax is a very bad idea since it targets the poor and makes it harder for them to get by (I have lived in a high sales tax states and it is no better then having the state take out 200 dollars out of your pay check directly. It makes living expenses go WAYY UP and makes the working class struggle more.) and make those who serve in the military tax free.

I agree our education system is a joke. It need to focus on what is really used in day to day life such as finances, economy, our nations laws and human studies and persauion. I sincerely think in our schools our teens are committing shootings and then killing them selves is the lack of understanding of how to persuade their fellow human being and knowing how they are in order to get what they want and resolve differences by being assertive and not either be passive or violent. Most kids in school are taught how things supposed to be, not how they are and this causes problems.

Security is a big issue and securing the borders is one of the basics required to make our nation more secure. Our US forces do it in Iraq to catch Iranians from coming in and prevent them committing acts of terror to secure that nation, so why are we neglecting to do that here?

A guest worker program I agree with but amnesty I do not. Our immigration laws need to be reformed and have some sanity and logic behind them, not the ad hoc mess we have now.

Gay marriage I'd allow on the fact they are fit to be parents are are able to adopt a child. Marriage between gays opens a whole new market and homes for children who have no parents or were given up by their parents.

i finished serving a year ago and they are chan ging tactics. When I went it, it was still based on the old way of doing things when i was in BT. When I left, most of the drill sarges had Iraqi combat experience, and were training people to how to deal with Iraqis and dealing with that culture. It is adapting.

Ghost Story.

I like the internet. I have no idea why. I prefer it over realife. I believe its appeal is because if talking to people, I screw up, I do not have to face any real conquences of my mistake. Computer games are the same way. Make a mistake, hit reset or conitue or load up a save and you are fine.

Sometimes I like to go into chat rooms and try to find someone to cyber with. I am not always good at it, yet sometimes I am able to get by. A lot of times I just chat to any one just to pass the time and talk mostly about music and the internet.

One day I was typing to some one and once it got going, we were talking about my favorite bands and what her favorite video games and books were. Then i got to ask her where she is from.

She said, "I am right behind you."

"LOL", was the reply I typed.
"No, I am serious."
Then the screen went black and I noticed a reflection in the dark screen.
I turned around and then screamed.

Trapped is how I feel
in my life, its unreal.
TO know that when I was a kid, I had big dreams,
now to be stuck in Vegas, wondering if I will have enough money so I can eat.
I never thought it would come to this
being trapped in a valley of hell called paradise.
I thought I would land in history,
but now all I got is my misery.

I admit, I screwed up, most of
it is my fault. Yet it seems some days I got a dealt a bad hand,
grew up in a family with two of my kin insane and an overworked and absent dad.
All I got is my regrets.
Should have done this, should have not done that.
Because of my decisions, now these days I feel trapped.
Now all I am wishing for is someone give me a second chance.

Rough Draft (based on a true story)
short story eh?
want a short story?

I'll give you a short story.

You see when I was a child, I was always left alone at home.

Not because my parents did not care about me, it was they were both out working to support me
and to just get bye.

I still wished one of them was able to be home with me.

Any ways, I did what any teenage boy did in such a situation,
I went out and hung out with friends.

With no guidence, I got into trouble, often.

One night my friends and I were out past curfew.
Most of them went home, not cause their parents wanted them too, but they were tired.

Except me.

Since I did not want to be home, I hung out by the 711 near home and sat on the bench and practiced my harmonica,
playing anything that came to mind.

The song soon turned into a soft, sorrowful melody. I do not know why. It just did.

Then this fine lady was walking by and at first continued to walked by then when a few feet away, she just went to her knees and
cried.

I stopped playing got up to her and asked her what was wrong. She continued to sob and remained on her knees. So
I knelt down beside her and placed a hand on her back. She then wrapped her arms around me and continued to cry.
I stood up and she stood up along with me. She began to calm down.

"I'm so sorry she said." with her arms on my chest. She noticed and pulled away.
"Its okay," I said, "What's wrong."
"It's that song you were playing" she said,"It just reminded of someone really close to me"
"What happened to them?" I asked. "I rather not say, just something I rather not say."
"Okay, so what happens now?"
She grabbed my hand,"Come with me." I did.

She lead me down a couple blocks until we came up to a bar.
"We going to drink?" I asked.
"No" she said,"We going in here" As she pointed to the shop next store to the bar.
There was a sign and it read, "Physic readings."
"Want your future read?"
Seeing that a beatiful stranger I just met was holding my hnd, my only response was
"Sure."

So she took me inside and lead me into a dark room and we sat on the floor crossed legged.
THe only two there were her and me.
Then lights slowly dimmed into being.
A man was standing between me and her, wearing khakis and a black t-shirt and well built.
"Hello, how are you?" The man said, "No let me guess, you are doing fine?"
"Yes, how did you know?", I said sacastically," I think this guy is impressing me already."
"A skecptic I see."
"Another lucky guess." I said.
He walked up to me and then squatted down.
"You will see and believe." he said as he touched my forehead with his index finger.
I fell backwards and blacked out.
While I was out i seen dreams of men in uniform carrying shells and loading them into a cannor and they were in the desert.
Then I seen the Empire State building in New York and the strip in VEgas.
A monestary with with priests in orange robes then walked by my, carrying lit incense.
Then I woke up. I was still in the dark room, but no one was there.

I eventually found my way out but those visons still haunt me to this day.

1st of all, this will give those in charge of studios more incentive to create more crappy reality TV (Cops was born out of a writer's strike.) and talk shows cause it costs nothing or next to nothing to produce such drivel.

2nd, I do not care, for I do not watch TV anymore since I discovered the internet at the young age of 16. I am now 25.

and third, the writers are not the only people suffering due to this strike.
