couldn't make a head to fit the design

I've been seeing heaps of anime themed threads lately,

and i thought i could do it because everybody does.

but halfway through my drawing, I realised i couldn't because my normal style shone through.

its hard to draw to specific guidelines when normally your work is dominated by things that go against what you're trying to achieve.

if you've had shit like that happen to you post here.

that the height of a figure is seven heads. and the shoulder width is three heads.

i can see where you got thrown off when you made the neck fairly thin and long.

so you sorta have to maintain a thickness rather than thinning down everything, i used to have the same problem.

the easiest thing to do is just to use a reference. Your family, a photo anything like that. Just keep referring back and if it doesn't look right to you, its not going to look right to anyone else.
