So long as you eat it again afterwoods.

Erk... no!

So does that mean we shouldn't use condoms?

Cakewalk is already capable of voice recording. Just jack up a microphone to your sound card, and configure a few things in Cakewalk, then you're ready to go. Uhm... you have either Plasma, Home Studio, or Sonar, right?

For loop samples, FL is pretty much the way to go. Reason is the next step, methinks (costs a lot, though). Check the getting started thread. I read up some recommended FREE tools there.

Topic: Voting System seems Unbalanced?!?!

Posted: 10/19/07 03:07 AM

Forum: Audio

Voting power is based on experience because (it makes sense) the more you see (or hear), the more you can classify what good and bad is. Note your voting power.

Now, one thing I hope NG would do is that there is a separate voting power for audio and flash. You see, right now, we have to review flash submissions to get voting power.

The guys firing 0-votes at you may have high voting powers already.

And I'll be having Penne Puttanesca and Beef Salpicao, both home-cooked by yours truly. After an hour past dinner, I'll be writing and/or recording music. Grow up; I don't need your crap.

(On the other hand, this was fun, hehehe.)

Hey, in case you guys want me to check your track, PM me; I'll send you EQ/mixing comments for FREE. That's right! F-R-E-E! Haha!

Topic: Hiphop Underrated On Ng!?!?

Posted: 10/18/07 08:49 AM

Forum: Audio

I've visited your page, and listened to a few tracks. They're technically good, neat and all that... but it just doesn't appeal to me. It's like me trying to let you hear my tracks (which are mostly pop or rock and, I bet, underrated also), and I'm not sure if you'll jive with it.

As personally observed, NG is a techno/electronica playground. It's rare to find tracks with lyrics here (so rare, in fact, that when I stumble upon a good one, it's immediately fav'd).

For now, it's either you wait for the hiphop community to grow, or you fuse elements from the mainstream NG music, much like the rock-hiphop fusion from the past decade.

Good luck to you!

Dontoktumi!

This is a very short punk rock track (1:37) with English and Filipino lyrics. Features two live vocal tracks and a synthesized instrument set (a guitar, a bass guitar, and a drumkit).

Please critique/nitpick. Thanks in advance!

Just a few nitpicks and ideas:

1. I suggest that the comments for a song be lengthened from 90 to, say, 255. This will allow us to describe the song better without posting links or such.

2. Yup, I agree with a required review for 0 and 1. Zero-bombs on hours and hours of work isn't something any contributor would like. There should always be a rationale for excessively low votes, since an artist needs reviews to improve.

3. I also suggest a sorting button for review score (right now, it's for rating, date added, and... something else... title!). Most of the really good stuff has good reviews, but bad vote ratings. It'll be also hard to zero-bomb reviews since you need to leave a constructive review.

I definitely agree. The good stuff's got 3 or 4-vote ratings, and the crap has higher scores.

What would also be good is to have a sorting function according to the review rating. That way, in case the evaluation is pure BS, it'll be filtered out, leaving more good music for our listening. Moderators? :D

Hey! A collaborative project! This should be fun. :)

Problem is I don't use FL7. I use Sonar 6 and Reason 3. I think I can collaborate if you provide the tempo for the project song(s).

Heard some of your tracks (and wrote reviews too, hehe). I think I can contribute vocals and EQ'ing to the project. Write me a PM. Thanks!

Topic: Recording Internal Audio + Vista?

Posted: 10/11/07 02:46 AM

Forum: Audio

Vista's audio setup interface is ridiculous. To change recording devices, right-click on the speaker found... uhm... beside the digital clock (Haha! My jargon sucks too!) SYSTEM TRAY! There we go, hehe.

Then you have to select playback or recording devices.

You will come across a window In the Recording tab. Go to the Recording tab, highlight the "Microphone" item, then click the "Set to Default" button. There's this property called "Microphone Enhancements". I don't know what it's supposed to do, so I just disable it.

Got stuck in my recording session (switched laptops; used to play with XP, now in Vista) for 3 hours... JUST BECAUSE VISTA WASN'T ACCEPTING MY MIC INPUTS!!!

Anyway, hope this helped one way or another.
