Tom-

I second that. Kuler is a nice little palette chooser to have around.

I'll also throw this one out there. It's just way too easy to look at a bunch of colours and make your decisions and save them. It really helps break out of that 200 or so colours they give you on the primary swatch palette in Flash.

I started working out a couple years ago. I decided that if I was going to be doing Flash for 40 hours a week I needed to get in shape and get away from the computer more. Working towards something like a big bike event or running event is what has kept me going since then. I did my half marathon and my 100 mi bike ride this year and next year I want to work towards a full marathon.

I do weight lifting twice a week and try to do some sort of cardio once a week when not training. When training for a cardio-related event I try to work out 3 times a week at least, at least 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes lifting. On Sundays I would do an extended cardio (like 2-5 hours) to get set for the run/ride.

When i lift I try to focus on only one thing. It might be bicep night, back night, legs night, etc... just work a muscle group at a time then return to it in a week or so. That's worked for me fairly well. Since i am trying to bulk more than tone I do high weight/ low rep(reps of 15) instead of lighter weight with more reps (reps of 30).

Also hang out with someone who knows the equipment or take out a personal trainer/class to get used to it. Using equipment wrong (or using just the wrong equipment for the job) is a waste of time. Having someone just get you in gear is so useful, especially in a gym environment.

Not to add to the Video Game Regs Lounge, but I've discovered that if you buy popular games on Amazon as preorder they usually give you a $10-20 coupon for your next game. I preordered MW2 and got a $20 coupon towards Mario Bros Wii (got it for $26), then I got a coupon from that for another $10. A lot better than whatever you're getting a retail.

In other news my wife is painting acrylic paintings of some of my Flash games for the AG office. Super awesome.

This is the exact definition of a collab.

Anyway, if people want to contact you they will but I'll have to lock it since your qualifications to host a collab here are not up to snuff. Thanks!

I'd give flash 5 more years for it becomes mainly obsolete.

Knugen comes online telling me he just got modded, so I made a "Congrats Knugen!" thread. He then told me he was modded yesterday and Kirk already made a thread, so so far Knugen and my relationship is tense. He's already humiliated me. This may not work out.

Just a few thoughts:

Have someone read over your work before publishing. I love reading articles but some basic grammatical issues can really toss around the integrity of the article.

Remove the voting system. It doesn't seem necessary to have voting in a blog unless there is need for users to cast votes. Voting on an article about game design seems sort of odd.

Add syndication methods. There's some good tools out there so that people can easily subscribe to your blogs. Technorati, Digg, Mixx, and other all-in-one plugins really help your blog stay in the spotlight of readers.

Enjoy! Good luck.

No, sadly not. I'm flying Mac at the office. But I do suggest the font Andale Mono for programming, it's a very nice font.

Many of us older users have IRL jobs in the industry, but making our own stuff still has a lot of appeal. The others, I assume, have school sucking up their "IRL" time.

It's hard once you get in the industry to continue doing things on the side, it takes a lot of dedication and focus. I know that once I started 8 hours a day the time spent on side projects definitely flew out the window.

I found Newgrounds through my friend who did this project:

This was right after Dale Earnhardt died. This video actually got a fair amount of buzz, hitting local news stations and pissing a whole lot of race fans off. The guy lives in a pretty big racing community.

They convinced me to submit animation so I decided to start submitting smallish games and animations. That was before there was actually a distinction between a game and animation swf on the site.

So what did everyone think of the game.

I though it was good but being a minigame didn't deserve the score.

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I don't think it being a minigame is in anyway a point against the game. There's nothing wrong with delivering an amuse bouche if it can trump the main course. This game is fresh, interesting, and makes me giggle. Maybe not eternally deep and maybe doesn't have RPG elements or breasts but that doesn't take away from what it is.

Yeah, score is slightly high... that'll come down once it gets the Top 50 list royal treatment.

Big statement from the young lad. Drinking is like religion out there. What were you drinking?

I tried a little bit of everything... VB, Cascade, Blue Tongue, Coopers, Crowns... I would have to say out of those my favourite was VB and Coopers.

And you know beer needs to be cold to drink it properly, right? Have you guys figured that out yet on your side of the pond?
