Working Out
I started working out a couple years ago. I decided that if I was going to be doing Flash for 40 hours a week I needed to get in shape and get away from the computer more. Working towards something like a big bike event or running event is what has kept me going since then. I did my half marathon and my 100 mi bike ride this year and next year I want to work towards a full marathon.
I do weight lifting twice a week and try to do some sort of cardio once a week when not training. When training for a cardio-related event I try to work out 3 times a week at least, at least 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes lifting. On Sundays I would do an extended cardio (like 2-5 hours) to get set for the run/ride.
When i lift I try to focus on only one thing. It might be bicep night, back night, legs night, etc... just work a muscle group at a time then return to it in a week or so. That's worked for me fairly well. Since i am trying to bulk more than tone I do high weight/ low rep(reps of 15) instead of lighter weight with more reps (reps of 30).
Also hang out with someone who knows the equipment or take out a personal trainer/class to get used to it. Using equipment wrong (or using just the wrong equipment for the job) is a waste of time. Having someone just get you in gear is so useful, especially in a gym environment.
