Very disapointed to see RAB get in the top 5.... Especially after dave made that whiney rant about how he's not getting enough money from t-shirt sales off of his extremely stale and overrated concept... Interesting how that post managed to disappear after only a few days when the majority of the posters were not on his side.

Other than that, I'm not quite sure people are REALLY taking their time to vote here.. It seems like things from the beginning of the month are overlooked.

Overall, not totally impressed with the top 5 lineup this time around...

I've noticed a faster repsonse in the few times i've been on since you posted the news. It'll be pretty damn awesome if even more speed is on the way.

Interesting Concept... Personally, I'm more for A re-construction type of approach like this than any 'memorial garden' Definately the best of the proposals IMO so far. (tho i think the design in particular could be improved)

Looking at things logically:
1.)Shining two flashlights at the sky for the rest of eternity is a stupid solution no matter how noble or inspiring it may have been at first.
2.)The mindless pandering and use of buzz words such as "wtc, 9/11, terrorism, terror"...etc by individuals and mass media that goes on every day are much more disrespectful to the dead than a new structure could ever be.
3.)The economy is in the shitter, A project like this would not only create demand in the short term, but also a long term financial stronghold (much like the former world trade center)
4.)America could use a super-structure. Lessons learned in building such a large "new millenium" type structure would be of great value as it would test our engineering abilities among other things. Self-sufficency challenges proposed by this wtc2002 plan may push development of new structures that produce less negative impact on the environment.
5.)Massive Individual Interest in such a project would help fund the project much like the 'space race' funded space missions through the apollo program.
6.)Everyone needs a little danger in their lives. Of course a new structure would have heighened security. (a forefit of our individual rights imo.. another argument alltogether) Chances are slim that an attack would be successful under new security sanctions. Take a chance, live a litte.

Anyway, thats what I think about the whole thing..

How is your freedom being gradually eaten away? Because you have to wait thirty extra minuites to get on a damn plane? That just doesn't make any sense. Please elaborate on this.

the airport deal is just an example... basically what i'm saying is that the US government is making everything too restrictive in the interests of 'protecting' people....

that and the fact that this 'protection' costs money...opps have to raise taxes..why?..defense budget increased..why?...need to pay for the fighter jets scrambled to patrol the baseball game just in case there might be terrorists...

Basically the whole thing is ridiculous. We dont need fighter jets to patrol sporting events 'just in case' nor do we need the fbi to waste time and money patrolling the internet 'just in case'

I agree... Why is it that when we 'fight for our freedom' we never win any freedom back? Like the freedom to go to an airport and get on a plane without being anally probed just incase you might have a weapon... Think we'll ever be able to go back to the day when you can get on a commercial flight with minimal searching?...doubtful...

'Terrorism' is just an excuse for those in power to get more of it. We had a few incidents and now all of the sudden they have to take away our freedom to 'protect' us.

It's all just a bunch of bull. I say let these so called terrorists try to attack again... we all could use a little danger in our lives, keeps people smart and on their toes instead of this lifeless sheltered society where the government protects its people from themselves...where we are all headed.

The real Terrorists are those who gradually eat away at our freedom.

I dont think afghanistan will be "turned into a parking lot" We have the military capability to take out specific targets. Precision attacks that will keep the loss of innocent lives to a minimum.... This is NOT world war II where bombs land at the mercy of the bomber's skill and the wind... Also the comparisons to the wtc thing being like Pearl Harbor is GROSSLY INACURATE.... newscasters spit out mindless drivel when they dont have a telepromter to read from.... But back to my point, We have the capability to to go in there and get the people that we need to get without great impact on the entire population of afhanistan... And once more, instead of Islam against the west it will be the world against terrorism... Other countries such as russia have pledged to help us, and even Iran is considering letting us use its bases . If anything this "war" will eradicate a large terroist group, and at the same time bring world nations closer together in the process.
