Also, on a side note: You're arguement that inner cities with gun bans have higher crime and murder rates is irrelevant because it's not within context. Inner cities have a denser population, poverty is more widespread and a different 'culture' all together. The socio-economic conditions are different.

I live in town with 40,000 people. Always have. Gun ownership in itself is fine, but there is no reason for anyone to have to carry them around in public. If that is needed, there is a serious issue of public security. Or a serious issue of paranoia.

They're doing it to provoke. There are several flaws in the American educational system, just as any other educational system anywhere; but the idea of "brainwashing" is hardly the main concern. I can't help but assume you're suggesting some reform that would allow kids to choose the contents of their education. They're the students though, and hardly hold any legitimate reason or authority to dictate what should or should not be in the curriculum.
Not above the teachers in any case.

As far as University, College and perhaps the latter years of high school, that's something else. But nonetheless, you can't expect an entire year of high school students to grasp that responsiblity.
