I'd say there are at least two females that are m.c's on this site, and I doubt they view the forums... so unless if we can find any females that can rap, it ain't gonna fly.

I am down to join! I may be (semi) unknown on this site, but I 'll be down to do this!

I'll think about it... don't want hating over "an impractical idea" do we. Now time to move to my rocket on DAW idea.

MIDI can be used to control alot of electronics, so, technically, if you have the ability to wire an Arduino and program some MIDI, you could get your DAW to microwave popcorn.

Now that is freaking awesome, who knew. InGenius is the man when it comes to knowing stuff. Thanks for gracing this topic with your presence.

Sorry for the double post, but this DAW isn't only for hip hop music, but for every genre like a DAW should be, I just happen to like hip hop.

With the online collaberation, give the ability to share VSTs and VSTis while connected. And perhaps give it a band-like feel, like, have some sort of leader that can select who's to record, they can either pick one person, or pick everyone to record at the same time.
If I come up with any more ideas, I'll post them
THAT would be awesome.

Holy crap, either my idea got leaked or great minds think alike.
look at the date of this
Monday, December 14, 2009
graytherapper (7:32:26 PM): what if you could open up your daw, and on your right side of your window you'll see something like AIM and see who's online. You see that (insert producer here) is online and you invite him to a collab. He accepts and you decide if you want to do synths or the drums. And on your screen as he/she works on their part, it shows what they are doing. Once you finish and think its really good, you think it needs some lyrics, so you see if (insert rapper here) is on. You invite him to spit on this beat, so he writes lyrics and it appears on your screen, and after he's done with a part of it, he records, and you can hear the recording being played out. Once you all finish, you can export it and release it as your preferred file format.
LyricalVisionary (7:33:44 PM): so pretty much like a direct connect that syncs whatever you have to whatever he has?
graytherapper (7:34:30 PM): yeah, instead of sending the .flp back and forth, and having to have everything he has in the file
LyricalVisionary (7:34:52 PM): Do you think there would be issues with sound files / vsts?
graytherapper (7:37:04 PM): well what I have in mind is that whatever sounds or files should be synced when you ask to collaborate, like a screen will come up and shows the common files you have, and if you want to send anything, it will be sent before you start
LyricalVisionary (7:37:16 PM): Ah
LyricalVisionary (7:37:35 PM): so also in the sense of if anything new is added, the other side would be synced to that
LyricalVisionary (7:37:40 PM): including the sound files itself
graytherapper (7:37:43 PM): yeah
LyricalVisionary (7:37:49 PM): that's actually not a bad idea

Not trying to be a bit pissy, but I am actually serious about this trying to take off as I talked to some musicians from the audio portal, and they thought that my idea, and how I described it to them, was really good and they would like to see it take off, so please keep this related to what you would like to see in a DAW. Thank you.

Well since people got off topic, and some didn't get the point of what I was asking. I am trying to get a very good idea of what the people want in a DAW for I can continue in a project of creating a DAW that allows real time collaboration, or a for a few that can't do real time, a system that will allow a special type of online collaboration. I want to create the standard of music collaboration, and I need your help to know what the community wants in a DAW. Imagine if this project actually works, you'll all be listed as contributors to this project. I just want to know what you guys want in a DAW, but don't say online collaboration, that was my idea...

Well I have an idea for a DAW, but I know that this idea isn't gonna make it fly completely, so I would like to know what YOU would like to see in a DAW. Post up your heart's desire in a DAW, and you'll get a cookie (or pie if I'm out of cookies).

I know where to get loops, but not instruments. If you need loops I'll try to find something.

Music in trailers is already grabbed from other works owned by the picture company. Trailers are usually done long before a composer is even hired. There are some exceptions, depending on the schedule.

Most composer don't get a film to score till like 3 weeks before release. Trailers are often done way early before that.
Whoa what the hell, 3 weeks before release? You're joking right?

Actually, I think he ain't joking, to get an entire symphony to record a single section of a movie costs hundreds even thousands of dollars. So to have them come is just a one time thing, everything is recorded once and that's final. If one person messes up, they will be fired. So in the stupidity and genius of Hollywood, they decide to send out the finished product to the composer for his choir can go to a studio and record upon that. From there it gets sent back to production which allows the editing guys to have the single takes of each song and put it in the movie. Then the last week until the film is just relaxing. I know this because my teacher is a sound engineer and he deals with this stuff.

I agree with Ingenious that Studio One will probably will have a long shelf life since it's from Presonus, and they will probably improve the features to be better suited for musicians and producers alike.

And we had to hike 15 kilometres, barefoot in the snow to the closest music store. And we LOVED it!!! None of this fangdangled "internet download", "e-transfer", "crossgrade" mumbo jumbo.

They had that back then? Wow, that must be awesome, cuz I still can't figure out what my FL Studio can do. Seriously, what I've been missing out on. I do have a question though, was that a gold mine in your day?

Yeah I was sold on that line to lol. But in all seriousness, I didn't know that it doesn't allow third party plugins... that sucks. Well its only version 1.0, so they'll probably fix that feature sooner or later.

So presonus just released a new DAW called Studio One, and I was wondering if people are gonna get it, have it, or are gonna pass. I think it looks pretty clean and workable, but since I'm new to this audio production thing I have to know what you people think.
Here's the site: http://www.presonus.com/products/Softwar eDetail.aspx?SoftwareId=11
