Congrats yo! I graduated from uni a few of weeks back. We had ridiculous attire, even for the staff/academics.

"Damn Near Beautiful"
An intimate look into the minds of artists such as; Gus Fink , Rt Vegas , Chris Lynch , Justin Aerni , Brian Gooding , Nicolas Caesar, Gabriel Vrooman and Tmnk. What's inside? Rare in depth never before read interviews , artist biography's and original art from each artist.
That looks heaps good, but I think I'd rather buy this piece of awesome.
I really like your digital backgrounds! They're very simple but really compliment the character.
Hello fellow artists! How's life?
Here's something interesting to read.
Woooww, great values there! What software do you use?
ARGH. BB CODE. NOT WORK. I HAVE THE DUMB.
(And where's the edit button!? </3)
So I lied about using monochrome markers on the sketch above. I coloured it!
Please check it out and comment with feedback thanks!

Daww, thanks! I like... flowy things... Especially hair. @_@

Sorry I missed your question! I actually just use a regular [url=http://cpc.farnell.com/mitsubishi-u ni-ball/ub150-black/eye-micro-pen-black/
dp/OE01907]Mitsubishi waterproof 0.5 pen[/url]. Nothing fancy-shmancy. I used a copic multiliner once, but the tip was so damn fragile it just snapped off within 2 minutes of using. So the Mitsubishi one I use you can get at office supplies shops and is quite sturdy.
Sketch using pen with reference~ Will practice monochrome markers in this one!
Dangit, I knew I should've posted the sketch before it's all inked up + coloured so I could've corrected myself earlier... =( Your comments are really helpful though, so in the next work I'll definitely use reference. PROMISE.
Here's the completed piece up on my userpage:

Now I pose a question to you guys: What comes first, the reference or your idea? I mean, do you find the reference/inspiration for your image [i]before[/i] you come up with the idea, or do you have an idea and [i]then[/i] search far and wide for reference images to match?

I saw your life drawings, which are really good, but out of curiosity did you use one for this piece? Even if you're drawing in an anime/cartoon style a reference can be helpful when you're attempting tricky angles of the face like that.
You're indeed correct in assuming I didn't use reference for this one! =( I really should be using some huh? I'm good at copying, but in drawing things off the top of my head... I'm really wonky. xP
So! I've started colouring her in copic markers, and I constantly question my colour choices. I'm thinking of colouring her hair in charcoal, or along those lines.
...thoughts? :D
WIP for the Flood, I did the nose wrong so I'll do it again soon! To be coloured with copic markers. I hope I get it done in time. Sorry Hyptosis, your sketch isn't done yet!
Wow I like your latest one! Those little sparkly dots add to the image. Very purdy.
This idea sounds great! Throwing in a goddess for this. So should we display WIPs or make it a surprise?
Thanks yo!
Here's another one.
Hey guys! Long time, no post!
So it's been the craziest week of my uni, so no updates on my current WIPs.
But I did manage to go to life drawing on Monday. Here ya go, some bewbz!
(mods let me know if nudity is allowed or not!)
NSFW warning!
Wow, wow, WOW. The B&W values. The SHARPNESS. They are dazzling.
GAH! I'm fuming. My uni group is so lazy! We have a presentation to do tomorrow, and I'm missing a LOT of info from my group members but they just refuse to reply to my emails! I mean, I procrastinate a lot too, but I get my shit on time no matter what, AND I communicate to others to keep them in the loop. *huffs*
So I draw in protest.
Dear Lazy Uni Group,
YOU NEED TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR TASKS!!

HOLYSHITBATMAN
Thanks sooo much! I freaking needed that. I need moar life drawing obviously.
Haha NO U.
Your line quality is to die for.
I always put watermarks on my work because as Hyptosis said, it leads viewers who may have stumbled on the picture somewhere back to me if they are interested to see more. Especially because I post my stuff at Tumblr and other social media platforms, people reblog/re-tweet/FB-share them and so do their friends, and so on. Then people lose the source of the image so those who are interested to see more couldn't. It also deters art thieves so that they can't just take the image and claim it as theirs.
With that said! Here's a new sketch. Please let me know if there's a striking error in her anatomy. I know there is. I've been going at her elbows all night and it still bothers me like nothing else.
Just letting everyone know that here in Australia, it's 1:22pm on Sunday 22nd May AND there are no casualties from the Rapture that happened yesterday.
You may cease shitting your pants.

this is a tracing of my hand and then adding the utensils that most artist would use.
Hey, I think you're still not in the right track. The pictures you've showed so far demonstrate that you're still in that infant stage of "expressing" than showing. There's nothing wrong with that, but I believe that you're capable of really exercising your brain and drawing what you see, making conscious decisions and adjustments to make your drawing match real life.
Rather than tracing your hand, DRAW your hand. Like how I just did in the picture below. Now do this multiple times with different hand poses, then maybe move on to other parts of the body.
Draw what you see.
Hey there! Welcome to the BBS and all that jazz. I have one really important advice to give you that could go a long way:
Draw what's in front of you.
That's it. Seriously, you need to practice drawing what you see first before jumping into copying pictures or just drawing stuff off your head. The brain works as though it has its own eye, but what it sees is different from what you're putting on paper. You need to practice drawing WHAT you see, not what you THINK you see.
Just try it. Draw the thing next to you. Yes, it could be a book, but there's more to that! How big is it? Does is cast or receive shadows? What's next to them and how big are they in relation to the first item? Are there a great deal of space between them? These information are important and teaches your brain to see. That is what makes a casual sketcher an artist.
Always draw what you see and later on you'll be able to draw fantastic pictures because your brain will have had lots of reference in real life. Good luck!

No silly! If you rub one really hard their hair causes massive static!
Thank you for the welcome~!
Here's one I'm working on at the moment. Someone suggested to me a little red riding hood inspired piece so here it is! I want to give it a fantasy feel at the end, sort of like Lord of the Rings.
THE ONE BASKET TO RULE THEM ALL
I've been using a tablet for 3 years now, and I'll always be drawn to the rough quality that the pencil provides. The uncertainty and weight of line gives the drawing more life I guess. And I like being able to rotate my drawing to get certain strokes down better. I've always had that pet peeve with tablet that I end up re-drawing the same stroke 10 times before I'm satisfied.
Oh, and hi. :D
Hey everyone! I'm new to NG and just like you, want to be good as an artist.
I guess here's where my art can get posted - mostly unfinished/sketchy though!
I'll post up more finished ones in my profile.
Comments and anything I need to work on are greatly appreciated. I'm open to requests, but I can't guarantee a speedy delivery.
So uh... here's my art!
Wow I'm amazed at your work! I totally dig your attention to detail and and awesome colour palettes. Your art is really quirky and psychedelic. You could almost be a children's book illustrator!
