Yeah I want to do zombie games properly to be honest, there are a lot out there but only a few that are really great. Unfortunately this is only a week or so project so it wont be as big or polished as the "real" game I want to make. Got
Penguinz 2 to think about first though ;)

Cheers mate, well spotted on the run animation ill fix that :) I think the death anims are some of the most important for a game like this, all the satisfaction will be given from killing zombies, so its worth putting in the extra time to make it extra satisfying!

Just started a new run and gun zombie game, god ive missed animating mindless violence :)

Youre constantly running being chased by a horde of zombies, and can shoot in front and behind you. Gonna be scary :)

Check out some artwork!

Oh apparently Bored.com have $500k to spend on flash game sponsorships atm. Get in there!

Response to: How much $ can you make via Flash? Posted September 22nd, 2009 in Game Development

You can make a shit load with games at the moment, you just need to be very careful with the sponsorship deal you go for. For Penguinz we were offered a primary sponsorship of $5500, but decided to go for the performance based one and it made more like $12k.

You can make even more than that though, some games at the moment can make $20k+ if you know what youre doing.

The way I do it is using the edit multiple frames button. Its a pain in the ass, but the easiest way from my experience. Why adobe wont just let you move the registration point it is beyond me.

If im wrong, someone please correct me, Id like to know too!

Just make sure all the frames in the movieclip are selected and within the sliding brackets (at the top of the timeline on the frame numbers).

Hope this helps!

Tom-

I was thinking about going, but the tickets were as much as a festival, so yeah. Tickets were pretty limited too, amirite?

I guess I should start going to some of these things but as an "art guy" I dont know how much of it would actually be relevant/interesting to me. Id probably get more out of going to a meetup and making a load of contacts.

I think Newgrounds does have a slightly shit rep, but it is getting better. I went for a drink with Mike from 4t2 Media and he spoke very favorably of NG as a community, but from a business and industry standpoint its just not seen as "important" any more for some reason. This is as a real fucking shame considering it was so innovative early on, but I guess the corporate giants have overtaken it due to monies and other shit.

NG just doesnt seem to get the traffic compared to other sites, hitting a million views is so hard here unless youre having the shit featured out of your game. The market is so saturated now that nostalgia just doesnt stand up against lots of money and investment, which again is a real shame. Hopefully Po3/Behemoth will help bring it back to the top of the game :)

Fuck it, NG will always be my home <3

I dont know how much of what I just wrote made sense, very tired.

Im PRETTY sure I got into Flash through Dave Firth. My friends and I always visited fatpie for burnt face man, and I guess I kind of discovered Newgrounds through that.

I was always into animation and drawing as a kid, my mum and grandfather are/were both artists and I was always encouraged to be creative, I spent a lot of time making shitty animated gifs in Photoshop/Imageready. I remember my Dad got me a copy of Flash when I was about 12. It scared the shit out of me and I hid from it for a few years, then picked it up when I must have been about 15. Kinda wish Id stuck with it when I was 12, id probably be a lot better now :)

Finally finished my calender entry, check it!. Fuckin hope I get in so much, put way too much time into that!

With a bit of tweaking I actually think it could work pretty well.

You could make a sweet physics game with that control mechanism, catch and balance objects with a bar between the 2 points... IM BRAINSTORMNG OK
