Meh, I looked at the lineup and none of the bands really spark my interest so far, the only interesting one is Rammstien. It would be interesting to see if they are as good as everyone says they are live.

They are angry with you, not at you :)
Wewt, looks like Ill be seeing Rage against the machine again this year! This time at a festival that isnt full of cunts :) Bring on Download!

Im silly :3
Cool, that site is lots better! I dont know why but ive always found stats like these fascinating :)
It looks like AG have already overtaken Newgrounds... Hopefully the wide layout and new features will bring NG back to its hay day, im still waiting to see what all of Toms "multi stage launch" stuff is about.
Speaking of Armor Games, looking at Google Trends they will take over Newgrounds in terms of traffic this year.
The amount of games they sponsor/develop/license is getting insane, did they have some major investment at the start or what?
Awesome, a big thank you to everyone that voted for zOMGies! Ill get in the top 5 some day :)
PigPen was easily the best movie of the month.
Jesus you two chat a lot of shit, I just read through 3 pages of HDX and windowskillers courting!

Argh I played it for ages on Armor Games, now ive got to play it again here! I loved it, the art was great and I loved how easy it was to jump in and out of battles. Another winner BoM!
meh, for me the real comparison is Pixar vs Studio Ghibli.
Ive always been a massive fan of Pixar, but I watched Ponyo last night and I actually thought it was better than Up. Holy shit that film looks good, and it was made using traditional animation techniques.
Pixar are amazing at twisting a story that is enjoyable for both children and adults, and all of their films have been very memorable and visually groundbreaking, but after watching a Ghibli film I always feel like im left with something "else" after it ends. They always manage to capture that imaginary dream world perfectly, that almost makes you feel nostalgic for childhood and the adventures it brought.
I dunno, maybe Im just a sucker for Japanese stuff, needless to say in my opinion Ghibli and Pixar are the 2 best animation studios in the world at the moment.
Robin, i like the sneak one best, your run cycle needs a little more vertical movements.
The green lines are there because you had the lines selected when you exported as a gif. Make sure they arent selected (on every frame) before exporting as a gif!
and now back to the actual topic...
It would be great to hear from some of the guys who do both animation and programming. What takes longer, art or programming, and what kind of techniques do they use to save on time?
SeethingSwarm and I-smel spring to mind, and of course BoMToons.
Argh its sluggish as hell.
You realize youll probably be ripped to shreds by Activision for this right?
Hmm, it should be working alright... Maybe I should have made it clear that you need Spotify installed on your computer to open the playlist. it should then ask you to open with Spotify once youve clicked the link.
Im spending more and more of my time animating these days, and I always like to listen to some good music to keep me inspired/happy/entertained. Its getting harder and harder to find new good music to listen to, not everything is suitable for animating to. Listening to Between the Buried and me can be fairly distracting when youre trying to half concentrate :)
I figured a lot of people are the same, so heres a place we can share all the music we like to listen to while animating. Try to keep it to things you think other people will enjoy, Luis your european pop trance isnt welcome here!
Ive created a Spotify playlist which I will try to keep updated with everyones recommendations. That way anybody that uses the service can just stick it on shuffle and pick out your favourites!
The playlist is available here.
Ive started it off with some songs off my work playlist, everyone share your favourites!
Heres a run cycle from the new game im working on. Im tooo busy right now to make something especially for this thread, but some feedback would be greatly appreciated! Im really trying to improve my animation with this one.

I think these are a great idea, its always cool asking people you admire anything you like!
It would be good to have some artists who dont spend as much time on the forums or making bog posts - like LeafWorthy and FleckoGold for example.
It would also be great to see Dan Paladin answer some questions, there are plenty of fans here :)
I think he means the bar adverts on the side of the page. They dont bother me too much, the Dragonica ones were pretty cool because I love the concept art style and characters, which were always an inspiration. The games shit no doubt though :)
I just started working on a quick game with Joeybetz for ArmorGames which should be a fun little break from my big RPG. Im getting seriously sick of animating the characters frame by frame now, kawaii cats are a welcome change!
My mum gave me her old copy of Roger Deans "Views" for christmas, and it has turned out to be a huge source of inspiration for me and my game art. For those that dont know Dean, he became successful during the 70's for his album cover art for bands like Yes and Lighthouse in which he depicted his surreal and at the time innovative landscapes.
I only really found out about him this Christmas but just from looking through this book you can see the influence he's had and the detail in which these worlds and creatures are imagined is amazing, I love nearly everything he's done so much. Floating mountains? He did that in the 70's man!
There are some nice slides to look at here, but if you are an artist looking for some timeless inspiration, buy the book! Its surprisingly hard to find good quality pictures of his work online.
Woah im a millionaire! :P
First time ive ever made anything from the revshare on Newgrounds really :)
The fawn looks lovely, just needs some more frames as everyone has said. Also, those ears were made to bounce! Having little details like that in the animations will take a little longer, but makes everything look that much better!
Any idea when we'll see a PS3 version? I dont have my 360 anymore so I cant play it :(

That could have been amazing! You should have a Newgrounds Bong off!

There was a discussion about it somewhere and everyone agreed that it could only potentially become an issue if "mochi was bought out by some larger company". And hey look what just happened.
hmm, any idea what things exactly? Are we talking signing over the rights to our games or what?
CPMstar is looking better and better, the ecpm is great. RobotJams been getting $100 a day for one of his new games, not bad at all for ads!
Anyone else got their xmas copy of Killing in the name of by Rage Against The Machine?
If it works this will be the best christmas ever :)

Yeah i saw it, really really great. I felt it ended a little abruptly, but the world they created in 3 minutes was amazing, very much my kind of thing.
Im stoked, pretty sure zOMG!es is getting Game of the Week sometime soon :3

yeah i find myself listening to albums i own on itunes on spotify, with ads :) what a dick. Ive been considering upgrading to premium for months now anyway, hmmm...
On the subject of invites i have a couple of spare Google Wave invites, any takers?
Ill do it for $25,000 and a tractor.
Well whaddaya know, EA2D snapped up Adam philips as a game artist, I didnt know that! They just released their first game, its not bad, only played a few minutes. Looks pretty :) Dunno what they were thinking with he character animations though!
Speaking of future technology, did anyone see Microsofts vision for 2019? The future looks chilly.
