The amount of people calling him a Nazi murderer is ridiculous, read the article for fuck's sake. Unless he was directly involved in "extra" activities, he shouldn't be persecuted. Only the administration and those who went out of their way to hurt others should be punished, not guards who were simply drafted and stuck there. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He probably had a family that he needed money to support, and a Nazi job was really the only option. Guards sitting in the camps doing nothing really didn't make the Jews situation worse than it already was.
And everyone saying he's being defended because he's old, that's only a small part of it. It's ridiculous to persecute someone this late in life for something they participated in half a century ago. He'll probably kick the bucket on his own within the decade as is, and a trial like that will be more than enough to kill him before a sentence. The testamonies of the Israelis show that it's just unbridled hatred and vengeance, and he's just an easy target. It's almost like a lynching, the people just want blood to feel better about themselves. Why linger on the Holocaust? Yes it was terrible, but we have new problems and genocides erupting all over the world. It's just ridiculous to hurt MORE people as retaliation now.
