Not bad, but 3 things strike me.

1. Most noticeably, it looks like the legs are jetting directly out of the stomach. Practice drawing the whole pelvic region, not necessarily with dangly-parts included.

2. The arms are both different lengths, and one's bicep is way bigger than the other. You might have a backwards hand, it's hard to distinguish the fingers.

3. The axe handle gradually gets skinner, rather than staying the same width down the entire handle.

These are all very easy mistakes to make. Also, it's not really a mistake, but something about the way the top of the helmet's been rounded looks kinda funky. I'm pretty sure those kinds of helmets have flat tops.

Your art improves throughout the comics, and now it's actually possible to read.

I can't say anything about the story, though, because I can't stand to read anime. Speaking of which, you might want to come up with better names for your...spells, or whatever they're called. "Super water clone explosion jutsu" sounds pretty dumb.

On another note, I bet you'd draw good porn.

It's not that bad a thing to do, but redrawing somebody else's art is sort of like plagiarizing an essay. There's nothing wrong with copying somebody else's work if it's just for the sake of practice, but if you go showing it around it's kind of a dick move since it's not technically your art.

I'm pretty sure OP is reading and considering all of our comments, but as he's already done a ton of pages for this, he just decided "fuck it" and dumped a bunch of pages.

What copying the pics has been teaching you would be nice to see though.

Well in that case, OP, I apologize if I came off as a dick or anything. I learned through copying, too, and it's a great way to go. It's just sort of frowned upon to display art that you've copied because people like myself will get the impression you're trying to say it's yours.

But yeah, I recommend copying stuff until you can draw the style yourself, than make some legit original art.

Response to: A New Cartoonist Posted May 5th, 2011 in Art

All I have worth showing is a recreation of one of DiB's poses from Invader Zim. I came really close to the original (by my standards), but I think it was just sheer luck. I still can't draw much away from a reference. Ignore the thing above it, I was attempting anime but I've already learned that's miles ahead of what I want to do.

I wouldn't consider anything that's not 100% yours do be actually worth showing.

Though i'd be interested in seeing something that you draw yourself, regardless of whether or not you think it's good.

You could try trusting in the parents judgement and hope the side effects will eventually wear off instead of switching her pills that apparently help her to some extent with placebos. Maybe go into a little more detail about the situation, and why you seem to urgently need the pills, like, right now?

Like the others have said, I have no clue how to go about reading this. I recommend you use an ink pen on the text (or like 50 said, the entire thing) so we can actually read it, and place your panels in an organized way rather than slapping them around randomly.

The art certainly isn't bad, though.

Not to be a jerk, but I think telling somebody they're better off with a clean slate and then linking to the old thread we're apparently trying to forget about is pretty contradicting.

Well thank you for the tips, good sir. I agree with you on most points of this, and now I don't completely regret posting that page as I did earlier. The only face I liked at all was #1 and the pissed expression in the bottom corner. when I drew 5, i'd made a line from the tip of his nose to the end and made it look all piggy (not my first time making that mistake) so I tried to fix it real quick in paint, which didn't help. Overall, what originally was intended as a smirk became nonsense. The hands were basically an attempt at following a hand drawing tutorial, which came out O.K with the left one and was just nonsense on the right. As for #4, it was sort of a disgusted look, like kind of flinching away from something and half wrinkling his nose, though the way i'd drawn it from the front looked weird.

So thanks for the pointers. Guess i'm off to work on hands and drawing faces from the front rather than a half-profile view like I usually do. Hopefully i'll get used to this style before long and have some stuff I actually like up, since about the last page has been made up of me playing with photoshop and a new style.

Here's something to kind of clarify. On the left, we have Thud. Thud could beat some ass, but he's built too large to be a ninja, as your character is. You never see a bodybuilder doing parkour. On the right, is Mr. Badass ninja. He has enough muscle to climb buildings and shit without being too huge, like Thud. I of course modeled him after how I imagine your character looking. Hope it helps.

If you're actually wanting to make your character look tougher and older you might want to experiment with things like making the eyes smaller, elongating the face, squaring the jaw and other stuff like that.

You might also want to try and make your character look at least a little bit recognisable.

Here's a couple of sketches (complete with the first sketch I did. Useful!) I just hastily made that will hopefully illustrate what I'm getting at.

Take his advice. Relatively small eyes and a strong chin are some key points if you want a manly character. While what you have right now is much better than the original, it still looks really generic. You need to make him stick out. I think that what would suit your character is (along with the features Aigis listed) a big ass scar going through one of his eyes, blinding it. You can make it clear the eye is blind by making the iris sort of silver, as opposed to straight black like the other. Hilariously, this is the best example I could find of what i'm talking about, but it gets the message through.

I think the feet are fine, but there's certainly something going on with the eye. I think the best way to fix it would probably be making both eyes almost the same size.

This.

Has anyone actually come out and made an official statement saying "US troops have killed Osama"

As far as I'm aware, all they've said is "We found his body" or something along those lines.

Someone shed some light on this situation, with a little sauce too?

Well, if they found his body and were able to identify it right there on the field, he probably would had to have been killed recently. What are the odds that Osama got shot by some random guy and his body was almost immediately found by some troops?
