controlling shape tween Posted September 19th, 2014 in Animation

Frame by frame animation may still produce quality work when passionately worked on, but I find it inefficient considering the amount of time needed to produce even just a fraction of a second. I've decided to teach myself the different tweens to make my life easier, but I'm having a very hard time learning it.

Before I ask though, I want to know if shape tween is actually used by experienced animators. Is it worth learning? Do people even use shape tween? From what I've been seeing, it seems like shape tween is what makes animations easier to create, or am I wrong?

^^
Above is a link of the issues I'm having with shape tween so far. I really don't understand how to control where the lines go, even with corresponding shape hints I can completely control the shape tween until i start adding lines in between and add shadings or multiple solid colors in the shapes. Does anyone know a way around this? Any additional tips or advice on shape tweens?

Because I barely know what I'm doing haha

flash audio high pitched help! Posted April 28th, 2014 in Animation

something's wrong with the audio I've imported in flash. Whenever I play it, it's all high pitched and sqeaky or slightly fast forwarded. Does anyone know how to fix it? It's a wav file.

haha, well this ain't half bad. I love how smooth your animation goes. I bet if you worked hard on you your animations , it'll be great! keep it up!

It's simple, short and random. It's not half bad for a really short clip. I like how smooth the animation seems like.

First thing I noticed..he's going backwards xD When a character walks forward, the background should be going backwards (or am I wrong?). Like PBandJstudios said, the purple BG looks kinda weird. And the sway of the arms of a person walking regularly should be alternate to the feet. Anyways, keep up the good work.

Animation wise... there really isn't any... the characters just kinda stand there, and an arm moves occasionally. As my great animation teacher told me, "Don't just make your drawings move... make them feel." Try making a character next time you can play with facial expressions, and a body you can see that's not covered up by a cloak, and play around with story telling poses instead of boringly standing there.

Read and learn about animation! Animate with the principles of squash and stretch, spacing and timing, arcs, anticipation, flexibility, exaggeration, secondary and overlapping action, drawing as if you're sculpting, appeal... If you don't know what any of these words mean, LEARN THEM!!! Animate half-full flower sacks before you move on to animating people!

I'm always willing to answer new animator's questions, so feel free to message me! :) Apologies for harshness, but I hope that's what you wanted to hear! ;D

Cheers,
Jesse

No need to apologize, this is precisely the kind of criticism that I want to hear xD Everything you said, including what your teacher said, was rather true. Most of the animation were just still images that were tweened.

I'm still quite a beginner and surely I've still got a lot to learn. I will try to make another animation soon with actual animation and I hope you'll be there to criticize :)) You were really helpful and thanks for the links!

What do you guys think?

I wonder what the explosives were for.

You can also go check out my audio library and see if there is anything there that you can use.

oh really? cool. thanks

also took a look at your lib, good stuff you got there, would like to hear more from you.

where to get music for animations Posted May 15th, 2013 in Audio

Hi, pretty new here and I'm not quite sure where to get background music for animations.( Nor am I even sure if I should bbe posting here...) Can I like, just get some random music from the net or from a movie and use it for my animations? Am I allowed to get music from NG audio, use it and credit the artist?

Really sorry If I'm posting in the wrong place.

thanks for thee straightforward answer, really appreciate it. Will try to make animations that are actually finished and more understandable in the future!

I've been trying to improve my animating skills lately, I couldn't say if it's good or not. Whatever you have to say, just fire away, spare my feelings not 8D Gimme all the words you got http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/c25d9fe2c05df2dd30910f0f c91b43fe

Response to: Voicers or subtitles? Posted May 14th, 2013 in Animation

the thing is that im a spanish speaker so the language of the animation is obviously spanish.

However, i'll upload it to NG with subtitles.

my question is Ã'¿ is it better to found some voice actors in english than the subtitles ? Ã'¿ isn't it some hard work?

thanks

Hmm, personally, I think it'd be a lot better if you only upload it with subtitles. Because yes, finding some good voice actors is hard.
