thanks guys! I appreciate it :)
I see what your talking about now.
I made my art in sumo paint, and cropped out the icon in microsoft paint. haha.
what section is it in?

transparent backgrounds? Posted December 29th, 2009 in Where is / How to?

Every time I try to upload an icon on NG, it keeps saying my image is transperent, and it won't upload. does anyone know why? Is it because my background is white?

This is the icon:

I really like this picture, the colors are quite amazing actually, don't be so modest. I would definetly like to see your work chaneled into more detailed pieces, they would look ritchious :D (spell check PhALe)

I think it's funny how when I'm asked how I can draw at such an early age, all I can think to say is to just f'ing practice lol

"Improvements" thread Posted December 26th, 2009 in Art

I came up with this idea a little while ago.
This is a thread where you can post your art, and people will tell you where to make improvements. You will then repost your art, showing the improvements that the people suggested.

(example)
ARTIST:"here be my pic of a dog!"
-post-
RE: the nose could use some work, try looking up some photos of dogs to get a good idea.
-artist then improves-
ARTIST:"BETTER!!! yay!"
RE: why yes sir, it is!
-fin-
get the idea?

rules
1.Please, constructive critisism. Don't cut people down.
2.try to post rough sketches or digital colors so it is easy to make improvements.
3.post good quality stuff, and don't get mad if someone tells you how you could improve it. Being perfect isn't the point of this thread. I made it so we can improve our art.

OKAY!

Let's start with mine :)
Focus on the colors, I can't change the drawing itself.

you should be aiming to improve yourself , score isnt going to affect how much beter you get.

The only way to stop them is to get mega good so not even they can deny your badassness :3

Also think about this , getting in a piss abut a bunch of ten year old 'critics' voting 0 on something, you know what , there just arent enough to say its all there fault , 2000000 NG users dude if its a good flash then people at least looking for B/P points will vote 3-5

let's be completeley honest: does anything outside front page flashes get noticed? You practically have to create the next MetalGearAwesome to get a good rating. I honestly think his flash was pretty good, improvments needed, you know, not bad. It didn't deserve a 2 ._.

Response to: Time of the blamtards? Posted December 25th, 2009 in Game Development

I totally understand where you're coming from, where there is supposed to be constructive critisism, you get someone kicking you in the junk, and then giving you a middle finger to add insult to injury. This is a fairly good community, but there are definetly a choice few asshats that talk shit, and probably practice there flash "skizzlez" by creating crappy stickfight videos. And regardless of how good or bad your flashes are, the rules clearly state that you should offer constructive critisism as to how you can improve your submission.

Okay , this may make me seem like a complete fool but I need to learn...

how do i make flash videos?
what program(s) should I use?
any cool techniques I should know about?
price range if i have to buy a program?

thanks

Response to: Censorship: OK or not? Posted December 16th, 2009 in Politics

We should all be allowed our freedom. Freedom of speech is no longer a part of our everyday society. Story time:

This happened pretty recently. A class assignment in some elementary school was to make a picture of something that reminded him of Christmas. He drew Jesus on a cross. His teacher had the balls to refer him to the office, and this lil' kid got suspended for 2 days! Can you believe that? You can't even remember why Christmas is Christmas without getting in trouble? Come now.

Granted, this isn't a very great example of our freedoms slipping away, but people should be allowed to say. If you're in a group of people, and they say "So how about that Hitler guy?" and you say "He's Cool", they may kick your ass, but it's not against the law to say that.

I do kinda realize now that none of this really had anything to do with cencorship itself, lol.
but you get what I'm trying to say right?

ah well.
cencorship=cencorshit

Jeeshwa's art thread! Posted December 16th, 2009 in Art

WAM BAM hello. This is my art! I'd definetly enjoy some constructive critisism, improving is always something I will never stop trying to do. Keep in mind too, I'm like, 15, so yeah, still in training. I'm not exactly up there with everyone else yet. I don't have too much on my page, infact what I have on newgrounds is fairly old. So lets get started! FIRST PICTUH. I drew this last year, it's one of my favorites. I inked it, but ended up selling it at a comic-con, so there's not much I can do for color. Tell me what you think.

actually, detail wise, it looks fine. unless you don't want people to see a few flaws here and their, which kind of defeats the purpose of coming here for feedback.
What I can tell is you use Color Pencils right?
my suggestion is to blend more when you are coloring. I can see your strokes almost too clearly.
What kind of Color Pencils are you using? if your using Prismacolors, which are pretty much the pro choice, then all you gotta do is work with them a little more. id you are using Crayola, which are not bad btw, then you just need to focus on more blending, pick up a colorless blender at your local art store and it should help you out a little. As for those they have 2 kinds a color pencil type and a marker type. Both should work for the most part.

Also this has already been hinted at but I have yet to see any one come out and bluntly say it. The reason you are getting so much sarcasm in this thread has a lot to do with your title and opening post. You made an assumption and it'd coming back to bit you on the ass. sorry...

Wall of Text I choose you! Wall of Text use Artistic Knowlege :P

I wasn't making an assumption, it was an honest thought. It was more to ask if there are any pen/paper artists out there, and if so, ask for tips. it just gets me down that computers are taking over. Not that it's a bad thing. I have a very high respect for digital art.

As for the tips, thanks dude! I didn't know they made the blenders for colored pencil, that's pretty raw. As for the type of color pencil, I honestly don't know. My dad has this GIANT thing of assorted colored pencils, and I just use the colors I find will suit the picture. haha.

I suppose I just need to do some experimenting :)
