*sigh* been trying to fix this for like 5 hours.
I'm porting an old game of mine to AS3 from AS2 (duh). How can I make the _x/_y scrolling camera in AS3. Doing it with x and y works but the whole hittesting breaks. I've tried the vcam, scrollrect, matrix, etc...

ZuiGe, you're last posted method is actually incorrect, by taking the absolute values you can get false results, s and t can be negative and should be allowed to be so
I tried it and nope it wasn't fixed. I tried to make the function return a boolean and still it didn't work. I'm starting to think this glitch can't be fixed.

I have the latest flash player, 9.47.13..something. Maybe that fixed the lag, I have a brand new computer btw.At 1/5/08 04:35 PM, lautan wrote: I tried it and didn't lag for me but my cpu usage was at a constant 60%. Thats very high for a flash game.Did u do it properly? moving the mouse then holding down a key? It has a nasty for loop to make it lag so u can notice the problem better.
Did u installed the 9.0.2 patch for CS3 . The ball will move properly, but when you hold down a key (any) it will lag strangely

Who said so?
Will someone who has CS3 try it?
Did u try it? I have no idea what's causing it. I'm sure it's not the script. It's Flash CS3.
This isn't a stupid problem obviusly it has nothing to do with my computer. I tried it on a couple of computer and they all had the same result. Plus read the tittle FLASH CS3 not Flash 8.
Ok i tested it, it's working. Do you mean the swf froze up or did it just crash?

Do you have Flash CS3? That's so random... let me try it maybe the upload site fucked it up.
When I have a key down the mouse lags. I don't know why but could anyone explain or fix this?
I made a sample so you could test it. It only happens on the Flash CS3 IDE. Move the mouse then hold down any key and watch the weird lag.
This only happens in the IDE, although It doesn't happen on Debug mode just test mode.

As far as strategy goes, i'd say Company of Heroes.
Hmm... I'll check those games.
I played SVEN Co-op, played like 40 dif levels. It's good but I'm looking for something new.
UT isn't very COOP'ish if you know what i mean. We tried W3 but it's not a game that's.. long lasting. I'll check on Diablo II.

I wikied it, and it didn't seem fun enough :P
I'm looking for LAN COOP based games to play with my brothers. We have tried a couple like Neverwinter Night (Which sucked). The only game we've played and liked was Phantasy Star Online which was pretty cool. Starcraft was cool but a bit too old.
What games do you suggest?
I Fixed the error, and submited it.
Is it me or is the game not working? I think there's something wrong with the server because it stopped working..
Hahaha, nice level.

Why don't you make one that looks better? :P
Thanks for the comments!

ADOBE NEEDS TO ADD AN AUTO UPDATER!! Most people have like 7 and shit plus if they have 9 they have like the 9.0 and not the latest.

Remenber the Flex SDK isn't Flash CS3.

How has this not been resolved yet????
johnfn here to shed light on the darkness. In AS3 you cannot directly attach scripts to a movie clip or button. Instead you must create "listeners" - look up addListener if you're ready to take the AS3 plunge. If you're not ready yet and want to stick with AS2, just go to the top left of the coding box and where it says ActionScript 3.0, click there and hit ActionScript 1.0 & 2.0. Problem solved.
That wasn't so hard nowwas it!
Lol I think i already solved the problem... plus you cannot change the AS3 to AS2 via the Action panel that's just a side panel for reference on functions, etc.
