How to spell ... Posted August 14th, 2006 in Politics

There are a lot of feelings about the terrorist group ( or freedom fighters, if you love terrorism like Begoner) known as the Party of God, Hezbollah. But no one can really agree on how to spell it either. Here's some different transliterations

Hezbollah- NYTimes, AP, Foxnews, CNN (most common)

Hizbollah- Reuters

Hizballah- LGF

Hizbullah-MSNBC, Newsweek

Other accepted forms: Hezb-allah, Hezballah, Hizballah, Hisbollah, Hizb-Allah.

Seen on NG: hizbolla, Hezballa, hesballa, hezbolla, about a thousand other ways of (mis)spelling it

How can we agree about them if we can't even identify them. Therein lies the problem with the war on terror. Who are our enemies? We are told that most Muslims wish us no harm, but then we see pro-terrorism rallies in Toronto and London, two cities where muslims-murdering-infidel plots were just recently foiled. Terrorists are a hard group to identify, and therefore I believe we should ere on the side of caution, i.e. the side of racial profiling. Thoughts?

Heres some others that you can gauge him by:

John McCain '05-80 Life-83
Ted Kennedy '05-0 Life-3
Lincoln Chafee '05-12 Life-37
Sam Brownback '05-100 Life-95

He's pro-abortion, anti-gun, pro-illegal immigrants, pro-flag burning, anti-uniting and strengthening america by providing appropriate tools required to intercept and obstruct terrorism, pro-racism, pro-sexism, anti-business, etc etc etc

He's a liberal on all but one issue.

Wow, a study tries to prove that America is filled with stupid biblethumping hicks. How original on the part of academia.

Seriously, what does this study prove? Americans are unwilling to believe that all life was created simply by random chance. And why should they?

Evolution within species has been shown to exist. Most fundamentalists don't dispute this. But what isn't shown in the fossil record, and what is mathematically very improbable, is the evolution of new species. The gradual transformation by mutation that Darwin laid out has very little evidence to support it. This study again trys to paint evolution as the right theory of how we came in to existence. In the mind of this professor bitch, to be ignorant of the theory's workings is to be stupid. So fuck her and fuck this study.

Response to: Mid Air Terror Plot Posted August 10th, 2006 in Politics

Hmm, it says that all the suspects are thought to be british-born and living in the UK. But wait, I thought that American imperialism and poor conditions in the middle east motivated terrorists? These guys weren't living in huts, or had there families killed by a 500lb bomb. They didn't grow up throwing rocks at the Israeli tanks sitting in their back yard.

So what's making people living in a first world country, likely living in a middle class situation, want to murder thousands of innocent people?

I think that they should do some investigating. Then maybe they'll uncover some beliefs that are driving these people, maybe even uncover a system of beliefs, laid out in some sort of pamphlet or book.. And I'll bet they'll even find other people who believe the same kind of stuff that causes middle class britonese to want to kill. Who knows, maybe they'll find older and more devoted people who are pushing these beliefs on the younger generation, preaching the beliefs, you might call it. Once they find these people, they should of course arrest them all.

I'll keep you guys posted on any developments in discovering the evil, perverse force driving these terrorists.

This is how you people are treating the muslims.

Summer camps are fun. Are you criticizing us for being nice to Muslims? Seriously though, who is actually making a legally, morally, and politically sound case for interning or deporting muslims?

Have you not learned from history do you want to repeat it and stumble blindly forward again?

Well interning the Japanese helped win WW2, so should we not be trying to repeat winning a war for freedom and justice everywhere?

Response to: Leftward March Posted August 10th, 2006 in Politics

As much as I disagree with many of Sen. Lieberman's ultra-liberal beliefs, I do think that he's one of the few (former?) prominent leaders of the Democratic Party who has some class and honor.

He voted for the war. So did 29 other dem senators, including 2004 nominee John Kerry, probable '08 nominee Hillary Clinton, vp canidate John Edwards, Minority Leader Harry Reid, and Dianne Feinstein. When he did, he realized that committing to Iraq meant that we were in it for the long run--that we would fight to build a democracy in the country and not abandon our cause during a dark hour. He knew it was not a situation that he could use as political capital if the war went well or call foul if the war turned sour. He knew there was no going back--that the senate vote was the time for each senator to decide his or her position on the war.

Many feel that the war in Iraq is going badly. They question the intelligence that got us into the conflict, question the ability to win the war, question the actions of our soldiers, of our president, they question the abiltiy of the Iraqi people to govern themselves, and the much more. Questioning isn't in itself bad--but there are also those that don't question and start demanding, who want all American soldiers out of Iraq, who want to "cut and run." There are even many who voted for the war, who knew that it wouldn't be pretty, who knew that it wouldn't be short, but who now want to cut and run and let Iraq fall into darkness....

For failing to abandon our president, our soldiers, and the people of Iraq, Lieberman was abandoned by his own party, by many of the same people who a few years before were touting him as VP material. He was crucified for taking the higher road, for following his conscience and keeping his word. I'm not a liberal, a democrat, or even a moderate republican. But I support Joe Lieberman, because it's always better to have an honorable man in power than a bumbling rapscillion like Ned Lamont. Too bad his party doesn't feel this way.

Response to: muslims, should we kick them out? Posted August 8th, 2006 in Politics

To say that all Muslims love violence, want to kill unbelievers, hate Jews and Americans, etc. would be xenophobic and incredibly igonorant. But it would be the same to not recognize the ties between religion and terrorism. Islam (a perversion of islam by many interpretations) has been used to preach hate across the world. There are millions of muslims who do support jihad and the dhimma. The Quran is widely interpretted to condone terrorism. So don't say that all muslims want to hijack planes, but also don't say that islam is some benign religion of peace that we should leave to its own devices.

I.e. if X is $50,000, that's not a lot to a millionare, but to someone of the middle class, it's a downpayment.

But it isn't that millionaires and poor people are paying the same amount x, it's that while a poor person will pay no federal income tax or may even be paid by the government seperate from welfare and other social programs or at the most a small percentage of his/her income, while a millionaire has a huge chunk of their income taken.

This isn't exactly fair, but instead of blaming the poor we should look to be cutting the taxes for the rich. Look at the 2003 Bush tax cuts--our economy is booming now thanks to them, and federal tax reciepts have risen, i.e. the government is collecting more money in taxes even though the percentage of income paid in taxes has decreased.

Anyway, raising the minimum wage is really nothing but a big publicity stunt by Republicans. Only like 6 million people are making less than $7.25 and hour. The overall effect on poverty and the economy will be small, considering how few people work for those wages and the fact tath most of the people making that wage are teens, part-timers, or trainees.

Minimum Wage Increases Posted August 3rd, 2006 in Politics

The unions are behind any and all pushes to increase the minimum wage because they often negotiate their wages in contracts as a percent of the minimum wage. And the mafia control unions. So next time you think about saying the minimum wage should be higher, just remember, that's just like saying you hate America and want lady liberty to be at the mercy of gre**y w*p gangsters.

Response to: Landing on the Moon Posted August 3rd, 2006 in Politics

Of course we didn't land on the moon. The millions of dollars were instead givern to GW Bush, Senior, so he could use the money to become head of the CIA, so he could order the invention of crack, which would keep the black man down, and also have bombs planted in the New Orleans levies, so that when his son was president, who the jews got elected, could invade Iraq after Mossad destroyed the twin towers with planted explosives, and back to New Orleans the levies were destroyed during a minor storm, and all the poor people on crack were too dumb to leave, so that they stayed and created heartwrenching stories, so attention was diverted from Iraq, which was all about oil--the bush family is in theoil business, anyway in Iraq with all the CNN cameras gone the CIA was able to smuggle out saddam and osama and whisk them away to Tel Aviv to meet with Ben Gurion, Hitler, Stalin, and GW Bush Jr. and Senior and Ronald Regan and Moses, who were in fact stealth jews, and they all talked about what tragedies and grand strategies to carry out next, all in the greater goal of manipulating the securities and commodities markets to the advantage of themselves and other shrewd semite traders. Only sillies think we landed on the moon.
