Is there anyway to keep the filter effects? such as blurs, but drop the actual filter?
\Should I avoid explosions because they are difficult to animte?
now, i'm not entirely too experienced as an animator, but as a writer you should only consider the writing. any good animator can take your story and turn it into an animation, difficulty shouldn't have anything to do with it as long as time, and quality work is put into it.
I have a really large movie clip incorporated in a tween, and the only reason it's so large (in memory) is because it has several other movie clips inside it that also have filters on them. but this make's the run time of my tween become elongated due to lag. is there anyway to compress it, but keeping all the filters and MC's intact?
is there a way to taper line's? i've seen it done before, and i've tried it so many times but i can't get it.
Does anyone know a website other than freesound.org that has decent sound effects?
FuzzyOzzy, we're not like, bestfriends? but he's my closes newgrounds friend. and also a very talented musician / voice actor.
"beginning" to many "N's" and "G's". lol.
The first time i did, i thought my tv remote was talking to me. i didn't really like it because on the inside i could tell it wasn't real, but i couldn't give up the chance to talk to my remote. haha.
how do people make the jaw line move when they lip sync? if someone could either explain? or show me an example it would really help me out.
Is there a way to draw behind a or in front of a symbol without making a new layer?
i recommend playing around with it for a few days, this tutorial really helped me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0igv_BKikg also, study some of your favorite cartoons.
1) Script
2) Voice recording
3) Animation
4) Sound effects/Music
5) Editing
have you ever used a story board instead? i never really saw the difference between that, and a script. but some people say it helps more.

Unless you are making a music video, I would think audio should be built around the animation.
well, considering lip syncing has to my synced to the audio, i need the audio in early so i know how to adjust things around it.
does anyone care to explain their animation process?
personally i start with
1) Script
2) Audio
3) Character Design
4) Rough Sketch, Key frames.
5) Line Drawings
6) Coloring
7) Backgrounds
8) Touch ups.
if you care to critique mine, or explain yours? i'd love to hear it.

this actually worked, thank you soooooo much :D
Posting the .fla or at least a screenshot of flash showing the full timeline and the frame where the lag is occuring will help you get a response faster. I'm guessing the lag you're talking about is in the middle of the head turn right?
Yeah, in the beginning. And sorry, i can post it still if you want.

My animation is only about 4 seconds long, but when i play it through it lags on like... one frame specifically. i'm not sure why. i have no symbols, it's all FBF but it freezes for like... a half second longer on one frame.

I tend not to sketch out my animation, but I do use a storyboard. The reason is I use the pencil tool to draw my lines, which brings up a question of my own. Which does everyone prefer more, the pencil or the brush tool?
personally i prefer the brush tool, because of imperfect it is. it give's my animations a certain cartoony look.
Hey all, i go by Jawnduss here but anyone can feel free to call me Jonathan, i've started this thread so animators can ask each other specific questions that just require the tiniest bit of input. for example, "just a show of hands" who sketches out their animation before going through and making everything nice and fine? feel free to answer my question, or ask another. i feel as though i have a lot of similar questions that aren't worth new threads. so they could all be posted here. thanks :D

What animation program are you talking about?
Well i'm using flash CS6.
Pretty straight forward question, i just want to know what optimizing does? i read about it in a recent forum. a recent forum says it cleans up line work, but i used it and saw no difference.
i've been trying to animate a punch from like... Mortal Kombat II, all i need is a basic punch something really simple. but i've been struggling like crazy and i'm not sure why. i've tried looking up animations to study on youtube, but everything i find is like stick animation and stuff and that's not very helpful. if anyone knows anywhere they can show me a very basic fight seen animation, i would appreciate it. :P
i never know what order to place my symbols in... or like, what symbols to have when animating people. like Head, eyes, nose, mouth, torso, legs, arms, hands, etc. if anyone had any helpful advice? i'd appreciate it. :)
i've been having trouble making a video lately because i haven't been able to do transition's properly. transition's such as someone opening a door, or throwing a ball, mostly arm movement's and face movement's.
also, i haven't been able to any good close up mouth movement's. it's pretty easy doing mouth movement from a distance, because it lack's details. but i'm confused as to how to do it close up. if someone know's any good tutorials, has a tutorial their self, or could show me one of their own example's i would greatly appreciate it.
