That was freakin' perfect! Thanks bunches, yo!
What's a good method for producing Flash projects to look good on Youtube? I can't export the video as avi because of a script I use which only works if exported as swf. I got a program called Free SWF To AVI Converter which does a fair job of converting the file, but there is some quality loss. Is this the best I can hope for? I edit with Sony Vegas btw, which can't handle swf, otherwise I would just import it into the video editor directly.
I know the audio here is royalty free, but what if I put an audio I got from an artist on Newgrounds into a movie that I sell for money? Or, what if people pay to subscribe to my site and some of my content has audio from Newgrounds' artists? Is that still okay to use their audio?
On my cartoon, when I can play the project using enter, I can play the exported file of it, and I can play the html version of it. The audio goes with the mouth movements differently for each kind. I've gotten the mouth movements to match perfectly on the exported file which just took a lot of trial and error. However, if I upload my flash to newgrounds, is it more important that the mouth movements match the audio on the html version? I know if I were to embed it to site page then obviously it would. But, I thought newgrounds might handle it differently and so it will actualy play the cartoon precisely as it would be played on the exported version. Maybe not though, maybe it still plays like the html version. Is that true? I'd hate for my cartoon to get a bad rating simply because the mouth movements were off.
I was hoping for a critique, I was suggested to post it here. I use Audacity and Fruity Loops.
This is the first song I've finally completed so don't be TOO harsh! But, I would like to know what you think, what improvements could be made, stuff like that. I guess I'm just looking to see if their are any simple ways that I could improve my song making abilities (music and vocals included). I've already had some friends listen to it and they all enjoyed it so I guess it is acceptable to at least some people, but there may still be ways to improve it. All right, enough talking here is a link to it:
http://www.gloryhood.com/audio/derrick.mp3
(It's not officially released on my site yet, but probably will be soon.)
I'm looking for constructive critisism, whether you enjoy it or not, I'd appreciate if you could give helpful input.
Actually, I checked out that thread, it seems more like it's just for advertising. I was hoping for actually critique, not just to show off a song.
I was going to edit and say I use Audacity and Fruity Loops but I couldn't figure out how to edit my post (mayb I can't). Anyways, I guess it doesn't matter. I guess I'll post it in that other thread.

Ya the obituaries, that's what I was looking for. Thanks, bye.
where does deleted content go? I looked all over and couldn't find the place.
I've been working on a huge 20+ hour RPG. It will likely be done in Decemeber. However it is an exe file since I did not create it in Flash. I'd like to be able to play this exe file in Flash. Mainly because it could likely get a larger audience. However, I do doubt that it is possible. I figure that if you could put the exe file in Flash, it's not like it would actually play in Flash, you'd probably have to download it from the Flash file and still play it offline instead of in the Flash file.
Anyone have knowledge about this? I'm still pretty new to Flash. *blush*

You'll notice two red lines on the waveform. That's the part that's repeating. You can fix this a bunch of ways. First, under the word Loop, you can set the sound to not read the CRF. If you want to keep the CRF and set how long you want the sound to keep repeating, you'll have to move your efforts to the Piano Roll. Clear your Step Sequencer, because any note you put on there will repeat forever if it has a crf.
Hmmm, thanks for being so helpful but man I searched all over it seems like and I couldnt find anything. I clicked on the sound and of course a box comes up with ll its properties. And ofcourse there are many tabs you can scroll through in this box. However, I went through it all and didn't see anything that said statistics, waveform, Loop, or CRF. I did notice a section with 2 red lines, although I'm not sure it's the same place you were talking about.
You do click on the sound in the pattern box right? I click this sound and the box that comes up has the tabs: PLUGIN, SMP, INS, MISC, and FUNC.
I've learned how to use FL all by myself and I've gotten the hang of it for the most part. However, I've come across a problem.
Certain sounds I'll say "Clock" as an example. It continues to play even if I use it for only 1 beat of a pattern. I think that sounds cool for a bit, but I wish that after I put the pattern into the song, it would jsut play for the 1 block pattern and then stop. Because even if I use just that 1 beat for the 1 block of a pattern it will play for the whole song! Even though I wish it'd just play for the block. How can I fix this?
Also, I bet my terminology is off but I think you know what I mean and sorry for having bad terminology. :-(
hmmm streaming made it the quality of the audio sound all fuzzy. :-(
Oh well, having to tweak the motuh movements isn;t so bad I guess.
i made it work by moving the audio 3 frames ahead and even then i had to change a few mouth movements. that's a very annoying way to solve thi problem. if anyone knows a better way please inform me.
This is annoying me. On the standard file I have the mouth movements matched up excellent with the audio voices. But on the html file it's like it's behind a tad. This tad bit makes a huge difference though! Because now a lot of the motuh movements are'nt going correcting with the voice acting! I tried messing aroudn with the setting a whole bunch. What's an easy way to fix this?
all right i got it to work. i went to properties and it let me choose what audio to play and at what frame. yay!
If I put in an audio file how can I stop it. On one layer I have the audio start on frame 1 and it should end on frame 145. I would then put in a different audio at frame 146. However, it won't let me put in a new audio file for some reason and also the first audio file continues to play. How can I solve this?
In the mean time I'll try searching for the answer but I'm hoping someone can tell me the answer thanks in advance! :-)
It seems liek I have the coding right but then I click it, it won't go to the site I tell it to. Instead it says "Can not find file in C:/Documents and Settings/Compaq Owner/ blahablahblah"
It's like it's looking for the site on my computer rather than on the web. How do I fix this? This is the code I'm using in case it can help you:
on (release) {getURL("www.url.com")}
Oh ok I think I get it now. You see I use GIMP and frequently convert picture file formats. GIMP allows png to be compressed to an extreme degree!!! jpg and gif are not able to be compressed as heavily (at least not with GIMP). Of course you lose quality when you compress but png does an AMAZING job retaining quality while being compressed so heavily. So I think what it is, is that png can have a higher quality than jpg and gif, but at a higher file size. But it can also get to a much lower file size but then won't be quite as high as quality as gif or jpg. jpg gif and png can all have good uses depending on the circumcstances. I stick with png when I need really low picture sizes though. I guess I could also use png if I want a really high quality picture too. I've never actually used png for picture quality, only for compression haha. I tend to use jpg for a high quality picture. Maybe I should test out png for quality as well.
yes png's are almost always smaller than gif and jpg. I'm not sure why BlueHippo says they r large :-( cuz I work with png's A LOT and they are very helpful when you are making a big file and you want to cut down on size.
haha aw man, now I don't know what to do. I talk to a customer service person on that site. I mentioned about having a phantom power supply and phantom powered 48v mic and what would be optimal for recording voice without getting static. He said this item would be best:
http://www.zzounds.com/item--SAMC01U
I said, "That's all I'd need?" And he said he hears people get good results with recording their voice with this device but interference is always possible.
I see, ya the mic I have was jsut a basic one I got for 20$. Do you have a specific suggestion for a 48v mic? I tried searching on google and am still not quite sure what I should get. So if I could be specifically told a good mic to buy I'll just take your word for it and get that one haha.
I looked through the tutoirals befor asking this, but didn't quite find exactly the answer I was looking for.
So, how can you get your voice to sound real clear when recording your voice on to the computer. Does the mic you use make a big difference? What about the program you use to record your voice onto? If so, which mic would be optimal, and which program would be optimal for recording your voice? (Within a reasonable money range). Also, are there any good programs that can alter your voice after you've recorded it onto the computer?
It's jsut that whenever I record my voice on to the computer with sound recorder it gets extreme static and sounds horrible, haha, so I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me!
