Well I don't know about you but I make all types of games from puzzle games and dress ups to platformers and first person shooters. I wouldn't want to pidgeonhole myself just yet but I'm sure that I will find that certain types of games are more profitable and focus on those.

Howdy Everypeoples!

I just got done designing my new run of business cards and I wondered how they stack up to the rest of the pack that are out there...

So this thread is all about business cards. If you have designed a cool business card, be it for a developer, programmer, bakery, or taxidermist or whatever you want... post it here and get it rated.

NOTE: I would recommend taking off any contact info you don't want readily available to the public before posting for critique.

So since I would like to have my business card critiqued, here it is. I realize it is extremely busy looking but I was going for high energy.

Posted: 09/01/09 01:33 PM

Forum: General

Howdy everypeoples, I wanted to let everyone know about a networking opportunity for people who live in the Chicago area...

The Chicago NW Suburbs Video Game Development Association is a group that is meeting every month and is a great place to show your work to other developers, artists, animators, and programmers.

If you live near Schaumburg IL (a suburb of Chicago, IL) sign up for the group and come on out if you can! I hope to build this into a group that really helps each other succeed and get noticed.

If you are interested please drop by the meetup page and sign up! I will be organizing this as we get more members and hopefully we can turn it into a very tight knit group for everyone's benefit.

Ok... so I am an odd case... I can program but I'm an artist too... I have some kick ass ideas and have sent feelers out to the people I am a fan of... here's hoping they respond positively, not holding my breath though.

Please put my name on the list of possible canidates to match make with. Perferably if I am programming I would like to be with someone who has a similar art style to mine so I might be able to help them animate...

I'm up for either way, programmer or artist... might be interesting to program a game and not do the art for once.

I am looking for an artist or two who can meld styles with me fairly well. I have an Idea but I really need to get a team together before I can say what the game would be.

I would like to do a fighting style platformer, I would more than likely wind up coding it and working on art as well. I need some people who are good enough with animation to animate fluidly. This would mainly be frame by frame animation.

I am looking for one or two artists. I can handle sound effects as well for the game development and the majority of the work goes into the art and animation.

Let me know if you are interested by PM'ing me.

I am still looking for a good artist or programmer to work with. Preferably pretty good at both so we can both understand how the system works.

I have a good game idea lined up but I need to find someone I can trust to help me make it on schedule.

PM me here on newgrounds if you are intersted in working with me.

Animators will need to have a good grip on special effect animations for this game.

Hes just trying to whore out his game.

Actually it's not about whoring out my game as you so eloquently put it, I have worked on this game for a long long time over 2 years ago was when I started it so yes I want people to play it but the real enjoyment of it is being surprized by what people can make with it.

It's kind of like a tangram puzzle where you make pictures with very limited pieces by putting them in multiple configurations.

Also for the why would anyone do that when they can just use flash question, it's a toy, simple as that. Why would anyone want to use an etch a sketch when they can draw with a pencil? Because it is different and fun to challenge yourself.

I personally don't care if no one wants to try it I'm still going to have fun with this and if I make something that looks cool I'm gonna post it here.

So if you don't like it please go and start a separate thread about how much I suck and how you think I'm an A-hole and let this thread stay on topic please, and thank you.

Howdy everypeoples! I actually have been able to sit down and mess around with Build a Robot 3 and there is alot you can do with it.

I have been working to make pictures with the game that look nothing at all like the parts that are used. There are a few simple shapes in the game that don't have outlines and by using them you can make some crazy things.

This thread is for making off the wall crazy drawings using nothing but build a robot 3, DON'T POST NORMAL ROBOTS.

These must be original works of art, that just happen to be created with the game Build a Robot 3, and not merely robots that you created with the game.

Think of it like a mix between photoshop and an etch n sketch and you will know what it is like to draw with the game.

I suggest using regular parts to get your base colors then going to the misc tab and using the plain circle, square, and triangle to make some crazy stuff.

Also I would take a screenshot of the art BEFORE saving it to the gallery, just in case there is an error or the gallery hickups.

Here is a link to the game, http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/49 2401

Remember this thread is not for posting robots on, it is for posting original art made with this specific tool.

I'll get it started.

Howdy everypeoples!

I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a contest associated with Build a Robot 3, Build a P-bot.

It's just like it sounds, you build a P-bot and save it to the gallery with the contest checkbox filled in and you are entered.

The P-bots will be judged by members of the Newgrounds team and the Jacksmack team and the winners get some cool stuff!

Prizes include:
1st place (1 winner): $100 in Newgrounds Store Credit and a Jacksmack t-shirt
2nd place (1 winner): $50 in Newgrounds Store Credit
3rd place (5 winners): $30 in Newgrounds Store Credit

Submissions will be judged on creativity, originality, relevance to the subject matter, composition, and general awesomeness.

Submissions will also be rated by the public at large and robots with a high number of votes and high ratings are sure to get the judges attention, so it doesn't hurt to tell your friends to go vote for your robot.

Go here for the official rules:
http://www.jacksmack.com/index.php?pagei d=14

I thought I would kick off this thread with a post of my version of P-bot so everyone knows what I'm talking about when I say P-bot. People seem to be getting confused on what he looks like.

If you make a P-bot you can post a link to the gallery on this thread for others to critique.

Howdy everypeoples!

This is the official thread.

If you are not a Newgrounds.com regular please be respectful of the forums and the people who use them. They were here first.

Build a Robot 3 is out in the wild and I know there are people who want to share their robots here on the forums of Newgrounds since Build a robot 2's gallery was here.

Officially I do not condone posting screenshots in the General Forums, and since the game has a gallery system made specificly for it you should post your robots there for the most part.

HOWEVER... There are tons of good forum games that can be played with Build a Robot 3., and I know there will be more than one person try to start an "official" Build a Robot 3 Screenshot thread... so that is why I'm starting this thread and the ongoing "Story Time" thread.

This thread is for when you have made a robot that is so rediculously awesome that you have to share it. So only post really awesome robots on here or you might get a ton of hurt layed on ya by the community for bumping a thread that has lain dormant for a while.

Be sure to look for the "Build a Robot 3 Story Time" thread as well for some interesting art based forum games to play.

I hope you are enjoying the game and if you find any issues with it please PM me here on Newgrounds, or my site Jacksmack.com.
