Rock Band/Guitar Hero. Posted April 11th, 2010 in Video Games

As we all know these two franchises are being milked to the bone what with The pretty much unnecessary GH 5 and Van Halen stacked on Aerosmith and Metallica. And then Rock Band 2 which was pretty much adding Instruments that don't break after a month or less of use and the Beatles Rockband which I guess was cool if you're into them but that's not what I want to talk about.
I would be fine that these franchises are being milked because that means more songs to play and shit but I think that the way that EA & Activision are going about doing this is shitty, Making Band Exclusive Games such as the aforementioned GH: Aerosmith, Metallica and Van Halen. and Now Rockband Greenday/ The Beatles. Those band Specififcs make the games pretty much useless at parties no one wants to play Metallica all night or at least the people who through GH parties don't and it excludes a lot of non-megafans.
What I would prefer to see is more like the first of the non number Guitar Heroes GH: Rocks the 80's which featured hits from the 80's and an 80's theme. They should Do downloadable GH or RB Decades like 60's 70's and so on or Even better do Genres Like PunkBand or Reggae Hero or shit like that, that I'd be interested in What Are your guys' thoughts on how Guitar Hero and RockBand should have been continued other than "Die"?

Yeah, but most people just say Gears instead of GOW, the God Of War franchise was before, so it took GOW.

Actually they're the same price, they're just being phased out so they're hard to get now which may result in some small businesses marking them up.

Woah Dude you need to take a Chill Pill Like big time. You know seeing as how you got so worked up about that must mean you really love Green Day, BUT, any normal person would argue their old stuff is good, or that that is my opinion and would not have cared but since you got so worked up about it I think that maybe you started out liking them a lot but then after American Idiot deep down inside you were disappointed in them but you fooled yourself into believing it was amazing and great music[which its not]. But whenever people say that Green Day is a bad band you are reminded for a second that you were disappointed by them, But to you this is simply impossible because you loved them SOOO much, so that disappointed is turned into anger and you lash out like that..... OR your just some 11 year-old who just discovered them and is going through that phase, don't worry it is fine you'll become a grown up some day and maybe they'll let you take your helmet off if you're extra nice.

The single greatest piece of a post ever posted in this forsaked BBS.

I agree like nothing I have ever agreed to with someone over the internet.

You and I don't exactly see eye to eye then, That was a borderline retarded statement.
Games can be disappointing (Haze was) Movies can be disappointing (Ghost Rider Was) Music can be Disappointing (Everything Metalica Did past the Black album is/was).
Its not that disappointment does not exist, its that disappointment is relative. If I expected something to be absolute shit and it was (like that new Alice in wonderland movie) then you get the smug satisfaction of being right. But if you expect something to be awesome and amazing (Like My friend with that New Alice in Wonderland movie) and find that it is in fact shit and that you should have listened to your friend Jack who said it was gonna be shit Then You WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. saying that disappointments don't technically exist is retarded and you don't deserve a keyboard if you honestly think that.

Gears 3 should be cool, No gameplay of any sort but it'd be hard to fuck up the formula. Though they could get out on the issue of putting some sort of not brown color in there maybe... just a thought....you know.

I've noticed that you seem to have something against Heavy Rain and WET, While WET was in fact shit Heavy Rain is a different type of game, its not even really artsy its hardly classifiable as a game, its more of an interactive story where your actions effect the story's outcome. Its something that tries something completely different and its lame that people like you bash it for it, same with the game flower its not quite a game its some other form of interactive media. And Yes most games are art, if there is a team of guys who are passionate about what they're making it is in my book art. But if its shovelware that a team threw out to cash in on then not so much

You are clearly ignorant. Fuck you.

He's not ignorant, he's been making valid and opinionated statements throughout this thread, and The Reason most retrogames have so much replay value is because a lot of them were Arcade Style where you just try to get the highest score, Space invaders, Galaga Donkey Kong, Mario to an extent I guess, all of the rest were like that with exception of a few like Zelda and Metroid were designed to be played in short bursts, or for a night or so because gaming wasn't a big thing back then so games were shorter and can be entertaining for days because you're only playing for an hour at most a lot of the time. But now Games are bigger with way more to do Take inFamous for example Its got an awesome story, a fairly deep main character, great graphics and tons of sidequests and trophies to get you're meant to drain some serious hours into that game.plus you gotta play it twice to get the full experience. While Super Mario Bros you run Right and jump over blocks and get various power ups there's a few secrets some places Warp Zones bonus pipe levels etc. but its all very straight forward and that's a good thing, Retro and modern are two completely different worlds in the gaming universe but to say Retro is overall better than modern you're pretty dumb (OPINION) The games of today are far better than the games of yesterday, take any game from the modern era and send it back in time to the era along with a X-Box 360 or PS3 and let them play it they will tell you that Twilight Princess Is a thousand times better than Ocarina of Time.

Now I've been a gamer since the Ps1 era, I got mine in 1998 or 97, before that I played Genesis, and I do Have tons of love for retro games, but frankly I don't care much for retro games now, I play them when I really have an e=urge to but I can get tetris on my phone and do have it so It through out my gameboys (minus and SP I got from a friend) because they were a waste of space and and I could play every game on the SP so While I think it is important that Retro games aren't forgoten completely I think its stupid to want to punch people in the face for not respecting them. because in a way retro games will never die there will always be flash games that use the basic formula, PSN and XBLA and WiiWare games available for download so there's no need to look down in people who don't give a shit about keeping outdated old ass clunky gameboy colors, or Atari 2600 or NES's of course I have a NES my sister gave me but thats cause I don't have a wii.
