You can actually handdraw stuff in alchemy; it can be used with minimal input, but that is not how posca used it.

I have been making music for some 13 years now; at the moment I spend 3 evenings a week rehearsing, I direct two bands. I play Piano and Euphonium; I compose stuff for my bands, and write stuff in FL. I listen to music some 6 hours a day on average; maybe more... 6 is a pretty safe guess.
I have been drawing on and of all my life, but have been really active for one year now; check out my artpage/bbs posts for proof of that.
I have not been raised Religious; I have not been baptised. I am an Agnost; not in the sense that I dont know if there is a god; but in the sense that I think it is impossible to know if there is a god; thats the principle of god. Kant and I am on the same page as far as that is concerned. For my view on religion see my previous posts.
First of all let me say that I think religion can be very benificial for giving poeple ease of mind. Helping poeple keep faith in their life. Giving poeple a community they can belong to. However, I think there are a lot of practices within every religion that take away from this bottomline. Certain rites, certain beliefs, certain rules.
I think the same can be said about music; It can offer poeple ease of mind and stuff, but there are certain activities that take away from that. Take a look at for example gothic or gangster lifestyles; both have a very strong connection with a certain genre of music. Both have certain "rules" that do not actually have any direct connection to giving poeple ease of mind.
Still I think these rules have a certain function. Many psychological theories have described the human need for belonging. Maslow`s pyramid of needs, which is the foundation of many modern theories of motivation, places "love and belonging" as the third layer of human needs; after physiological (eating drinking) and safety (shelter, steady income) needs.
Tajfel and Turner`s Social Identity theory, which was constructed to explain discrimination; the big problem I associate with the Lifestyle-religion/lifestyle-music connection, is composed of four components which show how humans give themselves a social identity.
First we categorize; we put poeple in different groups.
We then associate with certain of these groups,
We compare our group(s) with others, seeing a favorable bias toward the group to which we belong.
Finally, and this is what explains this seemingly random connection of lifestyle rules with religion or music, we desire Psychological Distinctiveness; we desire our identity to be distinct from that of other groups.
______________________
Wrapping up;
+Both music and religion can offer poeple ease of mind, hope etc.
+Certain Lifestyles become associated with these religions/musical genres.
+These Lifestyles/subcultures lead to discrimination, violence, intolerance. But also;
+These Lifestyles/subcultures have a function in fullfilling our need for a Social Identity.
I redistributed the different colors to different layers, 11 in total. I tried to distribute layers in such a way that one layer overlaps the other. When one layer wraps around another layer (hand/gun), it is harder to make the transitions smooth....
The layers as I have them now (1 is on top, 11 at bottom)
1 light blue areas of suit
2 the right side of the dark blue area of the suit
3 tie
4 right side of shirt
5 hair
6 face
7 the left side of the dark blue area of the suit
8 left side of shirt
9 fingers
10 gun
11 arms/hand, triggerfinger
as you can see the arm does not overlap anything, whereas the hair is not overlapped by anything (except a small part of the forehead perhaps)
suit partially finished.

See Attached ImageAt first I thought you were fucking with us and I was going to bust your balls, but I downloaded it anyway.
The download version came out fine, so no problems there.
Does any one know why the Image Dump did this to the Preview?
serisouly that is a screen shot of what I saw in the link
the dump has problems showing transparent png`s; the reason the gradient is not in it is because it was only added to the picture in this thread.

me too. good job;
have you ever thought about practicing your coloring?
YEAHP thats the shit.... ive got too much ideas for this...
funnel....
I like to work one object at a time; i.e. Finish the gun completely before I start on the clothes, finish the clothes before I do the face/hair.... so; the gun is more or less finished
I thought Id might as well show the development of this painting; so here are some more wips;
the one in the previous post was the lineart, before that were some scetching and rough lineart. The finished painting will not have lineart.
this is the next phase, creating a pallette and blocking out main colors

I have one such image finished myself, already in the art portal, and I have 3 more that I am making, though I dont know if I will finish two of them. Should I keeps thing like that just in the 'fractals' thread or start a new one for manips? Given the amount of time needed to make a layered image made from fractals, I guess I was hoping for a way for such pictures to get their own recognition instead of just getting lumped with single 'simple' fractals.
given the activity of the normal fractal thread, id say there really is no need to make a seperate thread for layered fractals.
Alternatively you could just post them in your art thread.

In related news; I`ve gotten somewhat reinspired for this game ive been planning; I figured out an art style I want to go with. So expect some pictures related to that soon... or not...

Sometimes it can be good to just let a drawing be and start a new one. especially with pencil, where its a bit harder than digital to change things.

I think I agree with you on this one; Id like to see more before I make up my mind though.
Whereas I do see the possible artfullness in this sort of art, I also see how it could be effortless shit. its a] kinda hard to distinguish the two;
and b] if we allow you to do this, theres gonna be 20 more poeple that didnt put effort in it that will aslo make a thread like this.
anyways; check out this thread. that guy has a similar style, and he quite aces it.
As ornery said in that thread, it`d be nice if you could provide a short description with each image saying how you made it... what stock pictures you used, what you drew etc..
Like to see more :)
At 3/20/10 05:20 AM, rossrik51 wrote: I am looking for an artist that can draw for me. Why? Because the best I can do is make a crappy stick figure (hell, I can't even recolor a sprite). Getting back to the comic, it's basiclly a sonic comic with two main characters(me and the artist).I'm going to hold a contest to see who will be the artist.After 1-2 weeks(depends on how the contest goes) I will pick the artist. Here is the challenge. You need to draw my character. He looks exactlly like Sonic, exept his fur is purple, his spikes/quilles(I don't know what they are)are different, his gloves and shoes are gray with four little yellow spikes on each side of the ankles and whrists. I can't think of anything for the quilles and shoe design, so I'll leave that to you guys. HOWEVER, they can't be the excact same as any of the real sonic characters. They need to be oringinal(But you can edit it a little and use it in the drawing).
Requirements:
1.You need to be good at drawing. I don't want it to be remembered as "that lame sonic comic".
2.The drawing must be colored, becuase the comic will also be in color. This will help me see if your good at both drawing and coloring. So if your bad at drawing but good at coloring( or it's the other way around), this contest is not for you.
Ive got an even better idea! I want someone to make a comic for me, even better, make various chapters of a comic. Then when it is finished, you give it to me, and I will sign it and put it on my site. so that I will be remembered for creating a good sonic comic, which I actually did not create.
Seriously. what is in it for the artist? As it sounds right now, the artist is going to do a helluva lot of work, you`ll be doing close to nothing. If you want someone to do something for you, and do it well: pay them.
Also: it might be cool to actually read the rules if you post in a forum.

yeah, could work, but then wed have to have like 30 min. dibs i think. So that if someone calls dibs, he gets half an hour to finish his pic, after thirty minutes someone else can dib it...
