Look at it like a language; you can say the same things in dutch as you can say in english; but theyre still different. Sure it limits you in some ways; if you really feel strongly about that check up some dadaist poetry. Still at the same time; language enables you to say what you want.

I agree with johnathan on this one; What Id like to add is that you shouldnt force a style on yourself. If you force yourself to work in a certain style it will limit your creativity.
A style has to be something that comes naturally; its a way to express something.

fringe shift is askew.... you should skew it a bit (free transform>skew) so that it lines up with the tape a bit better.

Here's a picture I've been working on for a little while. :)

shit is dark dude; why not draw something happy for a change? nice vivid colors; flowers; rainbows.
also; I think most artists here on the forum dislike drawing lips (except for ben obviously) but you have found the best way around such a minor inconvenience!

Over the summer break Im hoping to set up a Tee Shirt brand,

im guessing your shirt design are going to be very different from what you posted in here? Cause you have to take printing and stuff into account. simple graphics work much better than complex ones on shirts.
Id love to see what youve planned.

Heres a simple sketch and some really quick colouring i did for a self promo project we were set this semester.

Nice

You put it very unfortunately. Jagondudo doesnt win because of his name, he wins because his drawings are just great. Dont blame the guy for competing. If you think its unfair competition, blame Toas for letting him enter.

I think it would

cook , (Art Portal)

Cool concept, scary as hell, but could use more details/refining.

Kinsei01 , (Art Portal)

Ive never in my life possessed a sockmonkey; so this just doesnt resonate with me. Nice Hard shading.

Bullonier

same as cook basically; It seems a bit flat, the colors could be more atmospheric.

Breaktroll

cool, but could have had more contrast/darkness... bit bland atm.

jagundudo , (Art Portal)

what is to be said about it; marvelous as alwaysl Great job. YOU GET MY VOTE

Dalenbourg , (Art Portal)

It doesnt really look like a shadow lurker to me... Could use more detail and refinement. bit messy linework in places.

Grumpytom , (Art Portal)

Really comicy; hard to critique; shading is a bit off. good for what it is though.

Zanezansorrow

Too abstract for me. Id rather you had just focused on one figure instead of all the shazam you added now.

DooDooMeaT , (Art Portal)

nice, cool twist to the topic. Looks a tad rushed though; definitely not your best work.

Zerothief , (Art Portal)

obligatory gay joke... Good entry, my no.2 I think. Very solid linework, but thats its main strengt. there is a lot for you to gain in coloring/shading

and now results for Chow #34 goddess

Congrats all!

Yeah I do that for my cartoony/lineart pics too. I have to add though that I dont have a set way of going about it; I normally dont have so many layers; then again, I dont normally have so complex shapes. e.g. Animals are generally one color, without distinct seperate parts. When drawing a bird I might make a new layer for the beak and eye, but that`d be it.
For this drawing I decided; If im gonna split it up; I might as well do it right.

looks good though, nice to have an insight into how others work.

Thanks, and yeah thats why I put this up.
