Unless you are implying that there is a wall close behind him that is lit up entirely by the light above him. if that is the case though, it's weird that the (closer) wall behind the mirror is darkened and that only so little light reflects off the back wall onto the back of his head.

WOO! 2nd place! Congratulations to 1st, you did a great job!
and my robot for test-objects robot-day game
I occasionally drink alone, but if I do it's not more that 2 or 3 drinks. The heavy drinking I only do with company.
That robot day thing is looking very awesome, I'm not so sure about that latest background update though... it doesnt seem to make the piece better to me. I think it had enough going for it with just the robot and the kitten and the little casita in the background.
This sounds like a problem I encountered myself when working with Aigis on our game "the outsider". Aigis thought all my drawings were too dark, and I thought all his drawings were too light; It turned out that somehow my monitor displayed the dark end of the spectrum brighter than it actually was. I think I fixed it by going to my control panel; opening my nVidia control panel and under "Display" > "adjust desktop color settings" I checked "Use nVidia settings" instead of "Other applications control color settings".
I suppose its similar for different videocards

I recently started using it in my abstract art. I just uploaded something I made by translating my current feeling (a bit too emotional, I know) into forms and colors:
http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/00-be n-00/stargrid
I also have made something by translating music into art, bonus points if you are a synesthete and you can guess what genre of music:
http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/00-be n-00/sycret
A) I don't think it works like that. A piece of music doesnt translate into a visual picture the same way for all synesthetes, and even if it was roughly the same, it wouldn't be similar enough to distill the genre from it.
B) Poeple have been interpreting sound/music in flat art since Kandinsky (and probably before him). Although Kandinsky based his paintings on an idea of a form of general synesthesia he thought to be existant in every human being, many artists have tried to reflect music in their paintings even if they weren't synesthetes themselves. How do you reckon your work, being an actual synesthete, differs from those other attempts?
How about you all? Did you know about synesthesia? Are you a synesthete? Did you just find out about that? Have you used it in your artwork, either accidentally or on purpose?
I have a (common) mild form of synesthesia where I associate numbers with colors. Can't really do it intentionally, but occasionally when rolling a die I will say "blue" instead of "four".
you're life has been meaningless
I think you mean this
Couldnt you just use a circle drawing tool in whatever program you are using though?

Thanks still working on it...
in the meantime; heres a drawing I made for two friends that graduated... focus was on the faces obviously... I started this on the day of their party, so I was a bit rushed.
you've really improved recently kashi, good for you!
on the last pic you posted its a bit weird that the outline gets lighter towards the top while the fill gets darker... Typically i'd suggest having both get darker/lighter, but you can actually play with increased/decreased contrast between line and fill to highlight the important parts of the drawing. You would want to have decreased contrast at the bottom and increased contrast near the head then though.

Only a selection of the jam games gets frontpaged.
I wouldnt worry so much about the bent index finger as I would about the ringfinger or dislocated thumb

Can't say im really impressed by them... sure theyre great but not really amazing imo. Anyways I tend to like more free stuff.
Seeing as this thread has been dusted off I'll just share some of my bookmarks with you:
Designers Go To Heaven: updated daily, lots of amesome illustration/design stuff with links to the source if you want to see more from a certain collection/artist
50Watts: Galleries of "Book-related design and illustration" hard to describe but definitely worth checking out.
both of these blogs are regularly updated so they are definitely worth checking out at least on a weekly basis. I particularly love how they showcase a wide variety different of art/illustration/design, so that you see stuff you wouldnt normally look for.

The point is that waiting a week before announcing the results doesnt give more exposure to the games than when winners are announced earlier. I do agree that all games deserve exposure, but I think the results are only announced after something like a week cause the judging takes time etc.
And score really doesn't play a heavy role in judging, you can look back at all the previous game jams for some more evidence.
I never stated otherwise.

I do expect and hope that late fixes will be taken into account in the judgement, even if that isnt stated explicitly.

In previous game jams I joined, this would make me happy...
Also, generally, it's about a week until the results, just to give all the games some exposure.
Dont get that really.. if it isnt about the score but about opinion of judge(s) why would the extra exposure (which is really only given to games that get fp'd, others prolly wont get a lot of extra plays after the first couple of days. (unless they have medals perhaps)) matter?

If I didn't come to Newgrounds as often as I do, I wouldn't have a chance.
I guess everyone involved has to go reading every single news post.
They occasionally have informative stuff in em youknow; especially if you visit ng daily. Anyway, I had a three week break from ng and still I knew about it...
