Frankly it's not very good. It's a bunch of brushes dropped onto each other without anti-aliasing or interesting colours.
I do hope you do make more art, however I suggest you try something different. As long as you don't have a tablet, use paper and pencil; most of what you learn about pencil drawing can be transferred to digital painting once you do get a tablet. As far as subject matter is concerned I suggest doing some drawings from reference. If you want to learn to draw poeple, posemaniacs has a great practice tool. Do a couple of those thirty-second drawings (or 90 or 60 or w/e secs if you prefer) each day and you should start seeing improvement pretty quickly.
If you do some anatomy studies together with the gesture drawing to help you understand why things look the way they do you're well on your way to drawing some damn fine humans pretty soon.

Response to: Is there a point to drawing anymore Posted May 27th, 2012 in Art

yes

Any insight into this would be very appreciated.

I'd say you need to figure out why you draw. If you answer that question you can figure out if that is more easily acheived through 3d modeling.

nothing cheers someone up like a no-effort crappy picture. I value your enthusiasm amaranthus, but how about putting at least a bit of effort in these, same goes for blackmist.

I like the values and color in your digital paintings, they lack in definition though, everything is kinda blurry.

practice

So I need some objectives, things to work towards, that's all I need.

draw things from observation; an apple a mug a chair, that way you have an objective to work towards: realism. You should be able to see your drawings look more and more like the actual thing you're drawing.

P.S: what is speedpainting?

speedpainting is where you paint something quickly; Usually this means you pay less attention to details and more to the basics; shape form, anatomy, w/e. Oftentimes it can be more productive to start a new drawing than to keep working on the same one trying to get it perfect; speed-drawing follows more or less the same idea.

Congrats on the job!
I'd seriously recommend getting a pc instead of a laptop if making art is the only concern. 500 is not gonna get you a very good laptop, then again; if you're only using mspaint that might not be a problem... although you wouldn't need to spend 500 on a tablet then either.

Don't get me wrong, I understand and (partly) share your frustration, I just think that it's misdirected. I also think that complaining about it in the lounge or in extra reviews is not just unproductive, it makes for a bad atmosphere.

I wouldn't say that "pisses me the hell off" so if that's your definition of a white knight, yeah I guess I'm it.

I don't even care about what kind of person he is or what he says about himself or his techniques, his artwork is offensive to me. yeah and that's different alltogether from wishing someone "a horrible death". You're making it very difficult for me feel anything other than contempt for you. I'd like to say I don't care if you care about that or not, cause it's "just my opinion", but that'd be lying. I hope you do care and shape up a bit.

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted May 12th, 2012 in Art

I think all the people complaining about reviews should reconsider why they give reviews in the first place:
a: you want to be recognized for your reviews, in which case you should apparently be less critica. OR
b: you want to give good reviews, in which case it shouldn't matter how they are received as long as you are satisfied with your "work". OR
c:you actually want to help poeple, in which case you should direct your efforts towardschanging these poeple's attitude towards their art instead of complaining about it.
bottomline: stop being pathetic.

He also made a thread about that either here or in the collaboration forum, I can't seem to find it though, you should be able to find it through his post history. Odds are that he didn't get any replies in that thread so he started pm'ing poeple. I suggest you ask him for some more details, ask to get coauthored/a part of possible revenue if you want.

If I understand you correctly, you can't fix it. The tablet ends up corresponding to the screen of the computer. So if you touch the top right of the tablet surface, the mouse will be in the top right of the computer screen, etc etc.

That is a setting though, so it IS fixable. At least, on my bamboo it is and I really don't think they'd remove it for the intuous.
What you do is the following:
search for your "Intuous Preferences" or something along those lines, that should give you a window with some settings for pressure sensitivity, right clicking and "tracking". The last one is the one you want, it can be set to either "Pen mode" or "Mouse mode". Pen mode takes the location of the pen on the tablet and maps it to a corresponding position on your screen, that's what you have now. Mouse mode only tracks the movement of the pen, regardless of it's position.
Both modes have some additional settings you can fiddle around with.

what programs have you used? typically you will need to setup pressure sensitivity inside those programs.
