I must say, I honoustly dont get what poeple are so upset about... There is not a single thing in that drawing that freaks me out... yeah theres blood in it, Anyone around here been watching the news, theres more gore in there. Its just a bit of cute violence, and Im not one to easily say that...

If I were to name a reason as to why it isnt in, its because of
A; not really ng related
B; really static. Its a nice piece, but it could use some more action, or maybe more details in the background. Poeple have to look at it for an entire month you see.

any problems before I submit this?

Hmm, this turned out not quite as good as I expected it to be.... I think there could be quite some more contrast. Still looks great though, dont get me wrong, just that the wips seemed to become a full out "WOUAUAHA... BEST ONE WITHOUT A DOUBT"-piece, wich it wasnt quite.

At 9/19/09 12:36 PM, Nekow wrote: finished! :D

Its really cool, and well drawn, and I love those little touches you gave all of the characters. But it doesnt really "look great". if you know what I mean. Its all a bit bland (maybe the amount of different colours, maybe boring lightning)...

Argh, I hate critiquing good pieces, Understand that they are both really good, just trying to add my two cents.

Response to: Knocturne's Art Posted September 19th, 2009 in Art

Well, first of all welcome,
on to the criticism part:
Anatomy is not good. Heads are extremely large, their (especially his) necks are very long. If this is a stylistic choice, your free to do that. But please do mention that in the future... Still Id do something about his neck, it is really ridiculously long, especially with those low shoulders.
Another point has to do with that sweater... Its all very nice, but I dont think it really adds to the picture. It makes it harder to really look at the picture, which I guess is no problem for some poeple, but I dont really like it.
Id suggest only using these textures and stuff as long as they add any value to the drawing, never make the drawing dependant on the texture. Look at it like a picture frame (not that great of a comparison, but it works), It can add something to a painting, but it must never distract from it. And in the end, it is about the painting, not about the frame.

Also, wow, the paragraph explaining the vandalism is longer than the section describing the art portal itself.

Also, its written pretty poorly. Half of it is about review vandalism and how they managed to do it, and not about the repercussions for the art portal.
I think if this article is going to stay, it could use some elaboration on the whole scouting "tree" system

It can be anyone, just make sure they will see this thread, so if you want to thank a non-art forum regular, id suggest sending them a link. Of course it is more fun to the rest of us if it is actually someon we know.
If you want to thank your mom for supporting you even if other poeple gave you a hard time about you art, thats fine with me. But well, you might as well just give her the drawing instead of posting it here.

With all the amazing poeple here on the art forum, its only a matter of time before you come across a user you want to thank for something. This thread is just for that.
But who would I want to thank? I hear you aske
Well, it could be anyone. But just to give you some Ideas

But how should I thank them? You squeele.
Do what you do best, make them a Drawing!
But what should I draw? You wondere.
Draw them what ever you want
> Draw a portrait in which you glorify the object of your gratitude
> Draw the reason why you are thanking them
> Draw a cake
> Draw beautifull flowers
> Draw something you know they like

But Im not that great of an artist... You sob
Well, thats all okay, just keep in mind. You are thanking someone. So make your drawing worth your thanks, it doesnt have to be a mona lisa, but at least make the user feel good.

One last thing !
I only want genuine thankfullness! It doesnt matter to me what you want to thank someone for, as long as you are genuinely gratefull for it. So no "thanks for making my life a little bit more miserable."-shit, okay?

Do I need to re-size my pic to submit it, and if so then to what size?

you need to submit the full size to somewhere else. the art portal allows pieces of up to 4 million pixels. upload it to another image hosting site. deviantart for example

Well, I can only speak for myself here, but I think a lot of artists on here consider backgrounds a necessary evil. Okay thats a bit hard, but the focus is generally on your character, and the background is something you put in to make the character stand out...
Now Im not saying that making backgrounds is always inferior to characters or something like that. I think that is how a lot of artists on here see it.
Backgrounds are great for creating moods/atmospheres. but what good is an atmosphere if you are not going to place something in it...

But above all I just want everyone to have a good time, and be proud of the work they made. If that means poeple need an extension, Im all for it.
