So what, you only resent general opinion when it's negative?

oooh, nice comeback Joe, I have to hand that to you..

also, at Thehappyslapper, the scribble on the shirt is a bit weird, id get rid of that like the other guy said.

Response to: Art Forum Game Collab [voting] Posted October 12th, 2009 in Art

Im gonna go against the stream and say Multi-character Brawler
Sure it will be some more work, but we can always just only accept pieces that have sufficient animation. Also, this means everyones work is equal (basically... some differences can be made in speed/strength/hp...) which is cool.

Seeing as Im the only one voting for this, as it looks right now the side scrolling shooter will win.
If that is the case, ill go ahead and suggest that enemies do have to be animated (a bit). Also: how will be determined who gets to draw a boss and who draws the cannon fodder?

Couldnt we make it a big brawl game, bit like smashbros, where you just have a wide range of characters to pay with/againts. every artist would have to make one character, should be doable I think.
and some artists should make backgrounds etc.

Sorry i meant without a source of light in the picture because i mostly do that and i can do diractional lighting

so you want to know how it would be with normal sunlight?
well, basically the same, only now all lightrays are parallel. every part of the drawing is lighted from the same angle, so on everything, top right (forexample) is light, and bottom left is dark.

the right side of her coat seems a bit iffy though, its hard to tell where its going/how its folded.
Also: please stay away fro the line tool... it looks cheap.

protip: I usually make extremely thin lines with the line tool, so that they are straight, then I go over them with the brush, so that it looks more "real".

some explanation on that shading: It looks beveled because you only shaded the edges. on a round object (like an arm, ar basically any body part) the shading should resemble a gradient from one side to the other. now it looks like the middle is flat (no color change).

I use similar technique.

Who doesnt? I do the same with my linearts, except that I normally have bolder lines, so a bigger brush size. That allows me be all sketchy and have multiple strokes make up one line.... On my non lineart pieces I usually use alpha pressure sensitive. that way I can do shapes and basic shading in one go.

You definitely show potential! I like the gradient shading you do.

agreed^
