Multicolored wires would be cool...

Man I feel weird calling you by your first name. I always wanted to call you that! XD
Yeah,... it feels weir being called by my first name here...

Even though you've obscured it a bit, it still stands out too much when compared to the rest which is far less defined.
A shadow under the raff, additional giraffe silhouettes in the background or rocks, grass, bushes in the foreground would add a lot.
Yeah, I guess so... I kinda wanted to finish that one quickly, so I added the background so I could upload it.
Anyways, Heres a new one... what is it with me and african animals? I dont know...

Poeple this was mentioned before, but I`ll just repeat it cause apparently poeple didnt quite understand it.
Posting the rules should never be your goal!
A] Backseat modding is officially not allowed
B] If the thread got locked, that means a moderator already saw to it. probably he already pm`ed the poster about why the thread got locked.
B*] Be happy we have such swift mods!
C] IMO, just posting "you should have read the rules, you have to start your thread with a picture" does not account to a good, valid post.
D] Youre goal should be to help newcomers. Help them find their way, but also welcome them, and comment to whatever it is that made them start the thread.
E] This is the art forum lounge, I dont see how whining about not getting a chance to post a link is art related
Sorry if I sound like a total ass, but Im seriously getting tired of all the nonsense around here...
I kinda forgot this was a collab, and not just a fun "lets all post our pirat drawings"-thread.. so im not sure if this qualifies, and to top it off, I dont have the psd anymore YAY!
Hey poeple, steering this think back to Art;
I just made an overview of my art in 2009, just like M-Vero didbefore me.
It`s really fun to look back on what you made x months ago, and see how you have improved (hopefully).
So, Im hereby challenging (inviting) you guys to do the same!
Id like to see what you guys have done in the past year!
I decided to make a nice Year overview of my art for my first year here on newgrounds.
It seems kinda hard to believe I`ve only been here for one year.
Anyways, this is a big Thank you to everyone who has supported me, critiques me, helped me develop over this past year. THANKS
also thanks to m-vero for the idea of doing this, and support in picking a piece for december!
still level 13 huh?
and to think I alreayd had made an entry for that....
this is not an official entry (unless you want it to be)

All in all, this is not communicating to me that this will be a succesfull collab...

Perhaps it is just a typical portrait, but I'd like to point out that I attempted to use a topographical cross-hatching that would reveal both curvature and shading.
Yes I think that works. It could be a bit more obvious though... maybe in a bigger picture

Hmm so well, the animation is indeed okay. but as poeple said there is too little of it. try giving it more of a story, maybe a think of a funny joke you know (a short one) or a comic perhaps, and try to animate that.

Help it pass through (if you think it deserves it)!
I know it's short, but I thought it was pretty good for my first thing, especially since I've only had the software for less than 12 hours now - I started fumbling around at 11 this morning.
I've never used flash, but prior to getting it, I've been really excited so I watched approximately 4 hours of tutorials.
Im sorry to see it didnt pass judgement... now im anxious to see what it was actually... could you maybe upload it in you dump? that way I could give you some suggestions
At 12/30/09 06:20 AM, AbominableGod wrote: something like this seems like it'd be fun to contribute too. Not sure exactly what i could do though if i was to help with anything like this. hm
well you could start drawing up concepts of enemies/backgrounds. If everyone agrees we will go with the latest stage layout JKA suggested. so based on that you could start thinking of cool enemies. not just how they look, we also need flight patterns, shoot patterns etc.
At 12/29/09 07:42 AM, AbominableGod wrote: Yeah I feel that sometimes. Never quite sure what to do though. I don't often start with any idea of a finished product in mind. I'm in a way more just practicing as much as i can tenchinique with what i do best after a very long dry spell of not doing art. Would lovve to do some different stuff though, and perhaps if i can finish some of my unfinished work I could have something out in the not to distant future
There arent a lot of them going on at the moment, but I feel COWs and DOUBLEs or just art collabs/contests in general are a great way to challenge yourself to try something new.
COW stands for Creature of the Week, contestants had to draw a creature that fit the set description (ie. firestarter, cute but deadly, snow creator), and then after a week everyone would vote on their favorites..l
doubles was an event around here were artists got randomly paired, and had two weeks to make a drawing together that fit the description (ie. Superhero duo, Newgrounds movie poster, Cartoonify live action... stuff like that)
And now I have too much quotes... sigh,
so how long have you been away from art then? and were you any good before?
At 12/29/09 07:22 AM, AbominableGod wrote: Hey, new art just finished. Figured I'd put it in the thread I started. Yippee. what do yall think?
Don;t get me wrong, I like your art, but its all so terribly similar...
Id love to see you do something totally different...

add more white space at the bottom.... with a few paintdrops...
but I guess thats not gonna work.
COOL
Abstract has always been a strange term to me. Or rather, poeples use of the term seems kinda strange.
I see abstract not as an absolute thing, its more like a spectrum? art isnt totally abstract or totally realistic... those are just the two extremes.
the funny thing is that it seems so unjustifiably relative...
Its like when you see an ant that is 2 inches tall, youd say its a huge ant, but if you see a dog that is 2 inches tall, itd be a tiny dog...
bit of a weird metaphore perhaps...
On the other hand you have that extreme of "abstract" art, which is the opposite of figurative art (as opposed to the opposite of realistic art)
back to the "spectrum of Abstract-Realistic" thing... On this spectrum I would say it is impossible to meet the extremes, because if you paint something that looks exactly like the real thing, it still isnt that real thing, it just looks like it. With abstract, if you painted it, it is there... so it exists... so what then makes it different from the "realistic" art? Is it merely our perception?
anyways.... your art is definitely figurative (espcially the first one) so....

I looked around in my drawings folder and this is the most abstract thing I have...

eg:
Pico Day: play against NG characters (Dad'n'Me, Pico's school etc.). . .
Madness Day: Madness characters. . . This one would defiantly have to be quite mad and quick (explosions and things flying everywhere).
Halloween: Simple. . . Halloween NG characters, zombies, zombie NG characters, mutants whatever. . .
Christmas: This can lead up to the final boss and can lead to a story. . . Like an evil NG Hacker (Duckdivision) has hacked P-bot to kill and destroy anything in it's path. . . The hacker tries to Get P-bot to destroy the NG system (can be a huge OFF button in an electronic room or something) But instead. . . A-bot comes to destroy P-bots Hack and restore him to normal.
Id rather use something else than christmas... it just seems too seasonal for me. (zombies can go all year round, but fat men in red?)
So as you enter the NG System room (final stage). . . You (player) switch characters to A-bot and must find a way to kill the hacker before P-bot destroys the NG System. . . There can be a certain time limit before NG is dead and you lose. Something like that could work. . . What do you think?
Oooh, and then thered be this great doomsday clock in the background, pulsating the only (red) lightsource. Counting down...
Main Character(s): P-bot, A-bot. I really like the P-bot design on the first page and think we should use that as P-bot.
I like that version too, but I think P-bot could be way more badass...

I suggest putting all the buttons (except for next and previous) together, so stack them above the info button. It seems weird to me to put them so close to the next previous buttons, since they hold no relation to those

I dont know... I cant help thinking there was a reason that the storybook project failed, other than the amount of work involved... something to do with poeple submitting stories, and other poeple choosing a story from that heap of 50 stories etc.

I like photoshop.... (gimp is supposed to be quite similar), but that all depends on your flavor.
How do you like to draw?
When I started to draw I drew comicey stuff, for which flash is more suited imo...
then I did more realisitc stuff, for which I like Photoshop.
and now Im starting to use photoshop for my comicey stuff too....
So, jumping in the new art/story talk;
I suggest that either way you are going to do it, short stories would be the aim... read some of tc boyle`s stuff, thats just great!
if your going to do it comic wise, id just call it the "Comic Collab"
If your going to do "draw a picture inspired by this story" id say; take any story regardlesss of wheter or not it is originally made for the thread.... but that might just be me...
I still think the storybook project was an awesome idea, that should be revived sometime.... it got a bit confusing towards the end.

- Medals encourage people to hunt for them, so they won't be forgotten, and doesn't disrupt the flow.
- People won't zero bomb the flash if it's put in the game section (which REALLY irks me)
- You chaps who medal hunt are unwittingly forced to wach the collab ;)
I agree with that, although I wouldnt put it in the games section... even though its the right section for it; you just get zerobombed for it....
