Let me begin with a little explanitory introduction, my school auctions off children...
Wait, that sends the wrong message... My school auctions off children... Like classic cars. Yeah, that's better. What I'm saying is today was the Senior Sl- Servant Auction at my High School. It's an event where Seniors sign up to be sold to the underclassmen so they can be humililated by their respective students on the day before Christmas Break. This whole thing is towards paying for the Senior Trip... Which is to Tennessee... AGAIN! T_T Anyway, I was put up on a soapbox on the auditorium stage before all the kids in the school and was sold off, for $20. Not bad since the starting bid is $5 and the maximum is $50.
Anyway, just looking back at this, I wonder, has the school ever realized how politically incorrect this thing is. I know it's fun for both the seniors who participate along with the underclassmen but really??? In a country where people protest kindergarten plays just becuase the kids are dressed like Native Americans, they also think it's totally PC to sell off students for auction? It's really funny how the schools been able to do it for so long without some bitchy parent claiming that they're drawing parallels to slavery... Though they DO call it the Senior SLAVE Auction, the words 'slave' and 'servant' are interchangeable.
So I wonder, do you guys think this is just freaking crazy or what?
The only black girl who signed up to be auctioned didn't get sold, she got really pissed off about it.
