And BTW...did you notice you gained 10 points on me recently? Yup, I actually missed my first deposit ever thanks to the unfriendly fucks at the cable company and their inability to hire qualified techs :(

The Fender Showmaster is a beautiful guitar and with 24 frets and Seymour Duncan pick-ups it is versatile. They actually play quite well. And priced under $1,000 in most music stores, they are a great value. And yes, they are Fender's attempt into the "superstrat" line of guitars.

Thanks man, I spent most of this weekend with guitar in hand, playing what felt right at the moment, doing the same thing over and over becuase it felt right.
You Tube has a several vids by lJoe Satriana where he shows some good stuff to exercise on with guitar. And I found a good one by someone I didn't know, but he is a shredding guitar player and has some good tips on combining the scales into different "keys" and working up lead riffs and such, I recommend them for anyone learning and up to a moderate player. The odd thing about Joe's vids are they are filmed at different times of Joe's career so he looks different with long hair, short hair and now shaved head. :)

Thanks, are you the head of the club?
By the way, I'm doing a major in comp sci as well ;D
Ah yes, computer major was my dad's suggestion as he wanted me to learn a trade. He figured I would never make a living just playing music. He was a kicking blue's guitarist himself. I figured he knew what he was talking about. Only thing about computers is I have to go every couple of years and take update classes. But it's ok in that respect too. Most of the college kids are fun to hang around these days.
As for music, my roots are probably set in 70's jazz-fusion and 80's big rock. I mostly liked Heart and Led Zeppelin and AeroSmith from the 70's. The Who, GuessWho, were also favorites. Stuff like Bachman Turner Overdrive and Electric Light Ochestra could also be found in my music library. I liked VanHalen, and Scorpion's rock music from the 80's and Def Leppard music was fun to learn and play. {It's really simple} I also liked Motley Crew. When Bon Jovi first came out I liked him a lot. Ozzie was/is my hero when he went solo and joined with Randy Rhoads. I thought Rhoads was an awesome guitarist. I really wish I could have worked with him when he was a teacher in music. Ozzie has a talent for finding shredding guitarists. Jake E. Lee is a killer guitar player but a bit stuck on himself for some reason. Zakk Wylde is great too. His signature series guitars from Epiphone are a joy to play as well. Another favorite from the 80's is Warren DeMartini from Ratt. He comes out with some kicking riffs. Other influences have been ZZTop, AC~DC and Judas Priest. I love Robert Johnson's blues as well and its good music to this day I think. {Varied interest huh?}

You're a bit over your first year though, do you plan on buying a new guitar soon? If so, i'm sure you could get some great suggestions here. Also, that's good you practice alot. :P
- 1 year 3 months, though i practice a hell of a lot.
I agree. Learning is about the basics and not the flashy stuff. You will get to the point where a new, better playing guitar is needed to continue however. My first classical guitar was a Yamaha and god was it a piece of shit. I finally worked up to a Washburn and I loved it. It was a cheap guitar as well but the difference in playing was incredible. Having that Washburn actually made me want to continue learning classical music. Playing in 5th and 7th positions higher on the neck was much easier because of the action on the strings of the Washburn compared to the Yamaha.

I've got this Austin Acoustic (kinda stickin w/ acoustics for now...) and I'm into the older stuff, ya know Tom Petty, Rush, the good'ns but I'm also digging the new Incubus album!
Hi Sherioush! You know, I've never had the pleasure of playing an Austin acoustic. I have had plenty of experience with the Japanese acoustic and a couple of Martins that sound okay but play kinda rough. I also had a couple of Fender acoustics that were beasts to play. Then again, I am used to playing electric guitars with an .008 1st string. My acoustic strings are Ernie Ball's Rock&Blues strings and I add in a.010 for the octave string on my 12 string :P)
But tell me? Do you like the Austin? How does it play?
I've been playing a lil over a year and a half now, and currently I'm working on Day Tripper by the Beatles. Any tips from you experienced guitarists are welcome :P.
You know, the first song I picked out by ear was a Beatles tune. 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand'. Oh at the memories!
As far as tips, I'll tell you what Stevie Ray Vaughn said in his last interview; "play from the heart" and I don't know much else but ask me, I'll give you my 2 cents worth. :)) Remember, ask 50 guitarists the same question and you'll get 50 different opinions. :)

Ever eaten frog legs? No, and I don't really plan to, either...
Neither have I. If you straighten the legs of a frog you will notice they are fashioned just like a man's legs only with web feet. The muscle in the upper thigh and lower calf are the same. Of course the frog is much shorter. And the frog stays squatted. But the resemblance is close enough to make me raise an eyebrow about evolution.
I have been ranked right around 100 for over a year now.

can anyone jump into this?
I've been playing guitar forever but never on a professional level. I studied music theory and fine arts in college before turning to computers as a major.
Currently I have an old electric DeMarzio kit guitar {made in the 70's} as my main guitar. Its my all time favorite guitar. It has a Seymore Duncan Invader lead pick-up and DeMarzio super-distortion as a rythm/bridge pick-up. I also have an old Aria Pro II acoustic 12 string with an add-on pick-up in the sound hole. For an amp, I never stick with one for long but currently I use the Marshall 2466C combo amp because I like it's classic sound. Over the years, I have been true to Marshall as I prefer the sound yet I admitt I was drawn to them simply because of the name.

The key is here; Given the cold dry conditions of Mars, life could have evolved on Mars with the key internal fluid consisting of a mix of water and hydrogen peroxide, said Schulze-Makuch.
Life would have to be able to exsist in that enviorment. And would it be recognizable to us? Who says it can exsist? It represents a lot of if questions because you're dealing with exobiology. Not what can happen on our planet. And we haven't had a lot of experience with other planets much less the life that dwells on these planets, so, exobiology is not an exact science. Is NASA murderers? Nope, not in my eyes.

I am not sure I fully understand the question but the reviews/flashes that are flagged are then checked by an administrator every so often and the flags are cleared. This is when you get credit for things you've flagged correctly. I have seen it go for several weeks before flags are cleared. IOWs its not going to show up right away.
Try here to futher understand the whistle guidelines.
