Say I also had to write my 100th review again, is this because a movie that I reviewed is deleted afterwarts for some reason(I'm sure every movie I reviewed passed judgement)?

Sometimes movies are removed after passing judgement. A few instances I lost reviews that way. Reasons vary. Authors may request deletion or something like that.

My response rate is really low. I wonder what I am doing wrong?

I also wonder how you guys rate interactivity on a movie vs. a game?
To me, a movie should have a preloader, one that has a visible status bar. The movie should have nice opening credits with a logo with your name or design studio, longer movies with different scenes should have a scene selector and a toggle switch for quality settings, and a replay button at the end with a credits button. I hate looping movies. I also hate sitting thru credits unless I want to watch them. Not have to watch them to get to the replay button. The scene selector comes in handy when writing a review.

Weird, Bronze took me quite a while, but I leveled up to silver in no-time. Say how many people have a deity level whistle here anyway? ramagi is probably not the only one ,right? Anyone has a list?

Currently, only ramagi has deity yes. Her and Joe 324 have had it at the same time and were tied in whistle points. Joe is back at gold now.

I got in a couple reviews last nite. No responses tho. :((

I sooooooooooo want a Les Paul. I think I might start saving up.

A friend used to own an early model Les Paul custom {1958 I think?} with 3 humbuckers. It had a 5 way switch so you could use any combonation if pick-ups. Never seen to many like it. It was pearl white and had a great sound. The wider than average fretboard made it a dream to play. He always played with super light strings. Usually an 8 on the bottom string and a 42 at the top E. Played thru my old 2520 Marshall it could really crank the sound too. It was the most exposure I had to a Les Paul. A former band mate had a Les Paul standard. He had added the Seymore Dyncan 'invader' pick-up in the bridge position and a Kahler locking tremelo. The Seymore Duncan pick-up really gave the guitar a screaming rock sound. I used to play with it some.
The newest Les Paul 'studio' or 'artist' models here in the states run about $2000. God I would hate to think what they cost in the UK. Good luck Denvish. I say go for it if you really want one. Having what you want only makes you want to play more and better.

At my local music store, Music Bum, they have a Gibson X-plorer I like for like $245 bucks.

Sounds like a plan. Go for it and stick to your dreams. The Explorer will stay with you for many enjoyable years as well I am sure.
The Epiphone guitars someone else mentioned are good quality as well. I referred to them as GHS products but they are still a subsidary of Gibson. The Epiphones made in the '90's all had Gibson hardware and pick-ups. They were outstanding guitars. They might still have this same hardware on today's models. I'm not sure. All these guitar makers have websites however. I am sure the technical specs are listed on all the sites. Epiphone has a nice impressive list of artists endorsing their products as well. I particuarly like the 'John Connolly Les Paul Custom' guitar by Epiphone.

'tis very pretty and theres no complaining about sound quality.

My earliest guitar training was classical and I learned on a Washburn classical guitar. It was pretty tough guitar and took quite a few beatings without complaining. As I recall, the sound was really quite good. I have played different classical guitars made in Spain {Flamingo style} and a Chet Atkins model by GIbson, but the Washburn got the job done, it did it well, and it didn't set me back a fortune. {*Such sweet memories*} I also had a Yamaha classical and man what a piece of crap that thing was. I never really got into the electric Washburns other than looking at them in music stores so I couldn't comment on those much. :(

Keep it up folks! God I love this topic!

Well, I always try to be nice to the author. I don't try to be mean and I will give them a few suggestions if I need to give them any.

Thanks Bahamut7. I will be stopping by and reading up nightly after the shop closes. I will probably be trying to build my reviews up since the hours I am working are prime portal hours and I won't be voting on UJ entries in the portal as much.

At 4/17/05 09:18 PM, Korpse wrote: Soon I'm going to buy an electric after I get used to my acoustic, what brand do you recommend. I heard Fender sucks, any other? Ibanez?

I wish you luck, and remember, if you talk to 1000 guitar players, you'll get 1000 opinions on what's best. :)

I could proablbly wirte a book on guitars here and I am sure you don't want to read that much but several options are available.

The American made Fender guitars are still of great quality and I play and highly recommend them. The American made Fenders all come from the Fender Custom shop and are almost entirely hand made. I have a telecaster and a stratocaster. The telecaster is a standard issue with maple neck and fretboard while the Stratocaster has a rosewood fretboard and birdseye inlays along the fretboard. They both have the medium knickel frets. The Strat is a '94 model while the Tele is an '88. {Yup, I have been at it a long time.}
I have yet to see a Fender made overseas or from Mexico I can recommend however. The wood quality is just not there. Neither is the quality of the hardware. The pick-ups and tuning pegs and so forth. There is no comparison between the American and foreign models except they have the Fender name.

As for Ibanez, I used to own an old Ibanez Iceman, and it played great. I replaced the pick-ups with Seymore Duncan pick-ups for a warmer sound. Ibanez guitars are a good quality Japanese guitar. Ibanez took advice from guitar players world wide on what was the best and played the best, to develop their guitars in the late '70's/early '80's and the rewards of them listening to guitar players really payed off for us the player. The Ibanez is probably a good choice for someone starting out.
Aria Pro guitars are quite good as well. I have had a couple of them, acoustic and electric. I had one old Aria Pro II 12 string. It played really good for a jumbo body with 12 strings. I haven't really kept up with the Aria guitars in recnet years but, they are in music shops everywhere and the price is reasonable. If the new stuff is comparable to older stuff they would be worth checking out. Aria also has a USA custom shop and they turn out some outstanding looking guitars. You can get one anyway you want it.

Another good quality guitar I recommend is the Charvel/Jackson line. The Charvel's are a bit cheaper in price compared to Jackson but none the less, they are of good quality. I have used them as well over the years for live performance. You can get them in any choice of neck, hardwood, fret/hardware combo imagineable. About all the amatuer bands I saw live in the big '80's and '90's had at least one Charvel guitar in the bunch. Abuse was nothing for these guitars and everyone swore by them that played them.

Gibson still makes incredible guitars. They have them in every price range. I have seen good stuff in the GHS line as well. {A subsidary of GIbson} I have never owned the Les Paul guitar by Gibson but, I have played serveral over the years. and everyone I picked up was just a beautiful instrament. I have owned however. the Firebird and Explorer and they both have the jumbo nickel frets and a rosewood fretboard. The fretboard is also flat like the Les Paul. They also have the GIbson 'dirty fingers' pick-ups for the great rock sound. The necks are quite fast and smooth while the scale on them is excellent for someone with big fingers like me. The jumbo frets suit me well as they seem to fret a bit easier to find than the thin frets. These guitars have served me well over the years playing live and, traveling from place to place as well.

If you are starting out, cruise the pawn shops as well as the music stores that sell new stuff. Compare prices. Sometimes you can find a great deal on an older guitar in a pawn shop. I have picked up some really good deals over the years at pawn shops.

Consider what kind of music you like and want to play also. Different type guitars offer different sounds. The double coil humbucker pick-ups offer a bigger sound compared to the single coil pick-up. Every guitar that plays live takes an incredible amount of abuse. Constant tune-ups and adjustments are needed to keep them playable. Guitars like American Fender or Gibson will withstand the abuse. So will Charvel. Ibanez and Aira will hold up as well.

Again, good luck, try using google to look up any guitar brand you are interested in. Looking thru the custom shops these makers have online is interesting too. The better quality guitar you get starting out, the more interest you will keep in it most likely.

speaking of audio portal voting...
I have noticed once I vote on a audio portal entry I cannot go back and vote again the next day like flash entries where you get to vote once daily.
In other words, once I vote, thats it, no revoting. Is that normal?
I mean I have tried voting right at midnite when no others could have possibly voted on them and still get the error"looks like you have already voted on this entry today"
anyone?

thanks for answering the e-mail I sent you ramagi. The main thing is the proper author is credited for a flash movie or game.
However I did not realize you lost a point if you flagged something as stolen and not enough flags were made to remove the flash. Looks like if the flash was later discovered to be stolen and was removed after all, you would get the point then.
