i am wanting to make some electro dubstep tracks, and was wondering what the best software is?

not too concerned about money, well lets just say money is no object, though i want to be able to do it on my pc.

ive played around with FL studios, not a fan though, it doesn't seem all that great... ive heard that Reason is the best around, but was wondering what people here thought?

i am wanting an object to leave a trail behind it as it moves across a serface, like an oil slick kind of style.

I know how to duplicate movieclips and all that, but i am wanting the trail to be a largish, circle paintbrush dot of a random colour BUT ranging from like 000000 to 333333, and only greys, to make it more realistic.

how would i go about making this dot a random colour???
