Sorry guys if you feel like the thread went too off-topic because of me. I didn't do it on purpose, I had no idea that there would be so many posts based on what I said.

I didn't watch the submission, but apparently, it passed judgment, was file swapped to something offensive, and was later deleted. It's a shame that this wasn't even blammed when it was UJ.

Haha! Sorry about that, I didn't realize you all were waiting that intensely for it! I had a lot of storyline to work out, which I'm actually almost finished with. I can start churned out the prologue and stuff soon, but I dunno how fast I'll be able to write. Postseason is upon us, and with the AL teams as hot as they are, it's going to be a crazy bunch of playoff games... :-)

Well, it will be much worse after you start writing, since probably there will be a lot of cliffhangers that will sure as hell keep me waiting anxiously. Anyway don't worry, take your time to make it as perfect as possible :D I just wanted to know if there was a release date :)

Also, the day before yesterday I received an IRL letter for the first time in my life. It was so exciting! It was quite difficult to open the envelope, but it was well worth it.
Really? Maybe I'm just older, but I've had tons of letters in the mail. And I don't mean junk mail... :-P

It's not that awesome, but when my mom told me that I had received a letter I was like "wtf who would send ME a letter?! I'm going to Howarts!".

Also 2, it looks like I will be getting a PS3 for my birthday later this month. Bleh, expect me to be less active for a few days after 21st October, lol.
I don't have one myself, but one of the best downloadable games for that thing is Pixeljunk Monsters...man is that game awesome!

Well I started looking for some PS3 games since I'm not too sure of which ones I'm going to get (besides a few precious ones such as GTA IV). I looked up the game you suggested in Google and the first result I got was a Wikipedia article. It looked like a generic tower defense game but who knows, I may give it a try :)

Thanks for the recommendation!

Just don't get TOO involved and never come back to NG! :-)

I'll do my best to come back! Anyway my birthday is on a shitty date because I'll probably be studying for school so there are two possible consequences:
A) I won't be able to fully enjoy it for some time.
B) I will do pretty bad at school.
It will probably be B) anyway :P

The "new" scouting system sounds interesting, I guess that now people will stop complaining about getting unscouted because the person who scouted them got unscouted too.

I can't find the original right now, but I'm pretty sure that this flash is stolen from this site, or from somewhere else. I'm not saying you should go ahead and flag it, but it's highly suspicious.

If you don't mind, I would like to keep doing it, I have only done one and I found it quite interesting and challenging. So yes, I would like to keep going :)

No, I don't mind, so go ahead if you want to (I've done a lot of updates so I think it's fine if you want to give it a try too). Also, I probably won't be at home on January 1st so if you can make that update too would be great, otherwise I can do it on December 31th or January 2nd.

I don't think that qualifies for a flag. At the end of the day, its just an icon. Its the content of the flash that depends on whether or not you flag it. Plus, by the looks of things....Its not going to last very long :)

Indeed, I think it's not flag-worthy. The whistle should better be used in the flash, not in a mere icon. Also, it's pretty common to see people stealing popular flashes' icons, because there are actually people that are stupid enough to fall for that who vote high in such flashes.

At 10/2/09 07:37 PM, EagleRock wrote: Also, one additional update on my own: My story is basically ready to go, and I already have a plan for teh sequel! I'm planning on releasing the Epilogue this weekend and you can expect the sequel's Prologue next week. In the meantime, just for fun, I'd love to hear people's theories on what they think will happen in the Epilogue or their views on the end of the story. Lizz gave me his insights on IM already and I found it quite interesting to hear what people think. Post up in the forums or the thread here!

Great! I'm looking forward to that sequel! I didn't think you would release it so soon though. I'm not expecting any surprise for the epilogue, and if something happens, it will probably be unpredictable so I won't even think about it. If it's set in current time, then the roster will be a lot different. Thats obviously because over time, the Barracks received more and more members. There will also be new moderators who probably get on well with the EGB.

So I'll just speculate about the new Barracks enemy. I'm thinking about several possibilities (without considering Wadolf returning in some weird way). This is the one that could be interesting and related to the real life too: the EGB may be attacked by the mods, which would be unexpected considering that after last story the mods don't have any reason to hate us. Some other people may turn against us, and we wouldn't know who we can/can't trust. However, in the end it it would be discovered that they aren't actually mods, and that they are just impersonators (reference to the DD account hacking).

Just a conspiracy theory though. Of course, there can be other malicious groups, or other people turning against us. Instead of speculating, I'll just anxiously wait to read it.

Haha, no need. Excel is really easy, especially with the NGPD roster since its just adding things up. However this roster is much harder because it is made confusing with IF statements! xD

Actually those aren't if statements. They are just some basic math operations which prevent you from doing everything manually with a calculator :D

Could you explain how in the hell you calculate all this? I know you're using Excel. Is it like my total gain divided by 30 or by 4? Also, what's with the minus in my change?

Average = Gain / number of days since last update
Change = Compares current average with last month's

Now I noticed that the Change looks weird with some other people too, it's a minor mistake. Probably a slip up with the "pace O" and "pace N" columns in the Excel file.

Thanks for the update, Bahamut! For me, this is quite an important date. As of today, I've been a regular for one year. Even if my activity may not be the same as back then, I do plan to become more active.

Congratulations to citricsquid for becoming the newest Wi/Ht? Regular! :)

citricsquid was one vote short last month, he did a great job so I could see this coming. Congrats, and welcome! Some of the other potentials did a nice job too, and I'm pretty sure that most of you will become regulars sooner or later, so keep it up!

No-one was taken off the list due to having at least three outvotes but another regular has requested to be taken off the list due to lack of activity. Phil wished to leave the Regulars List and like the previous retired regulars who made this request, he is more than welcome to return if he feels he's up to it again sometime in the future.

Woah, a lot of regulars requested to be taken off the list recently. It's sad to see so many people leaving :(

Notes: Lizzardis, assuming he wants to keep doing this, can have the role.

Lizzardis has experience updating the NGPD roster, and after this day he'll also have experience updating our own. I'm pretty sure that he would do a good job managing the roster if necessary. Also, whenever I leave I think that it will be him the one who will continue with the tradition (provided he wants to, but anyway there's a lot of time left until the day I decide to leave this place).

Thank you Slash for collecting those in and for contacting me directly. I can say that in total...21 Users have been removed. Of course I have to add S-H which in total the Barracks now has only 30 members.

It was a great experience, I met a lot of interesting people and I even got an official T-shirt which looks cool.
You didn't say if your bot won or not... :-)

That's because the actual competition started today, yesterday we just finished programming and made some tests with the bot. Today, we won 3 matches out of 3, so far so good. The organizers told us they really liked our strategy and it was one of the best things they have seen in a while, and they would like us to to present some kind of exhibition explaining what we did. Of course this isn't over yet, there are still 2 days remaining (Friday and Saturday), and a lot of matches left.

Also some cool programmers and people who build robots exhibited some interesting stuff. A guy built a spider-like robot which is just AWESOME. You can give it orders and it recognizes your voice, or you can give movement-based orders (like moving your hand around the robot in certain pattern). It has a nice display which shows a lot of cool info (like information about objects surrounding it), it reacts according to the environment, and lots more.

I will probably be putting all of this in my blog soon, even if nobody cares about it :P

Actually, it's better to use "site:newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/", otherwise you're likely to get those "post reply to X thread" results, that don't even show you the actual thread. Great way to find old threads BTW, it never fails.

So today, I woke up and after a funny and ridiculous text message conversation, I left home at about 10AM, and I got back at 23 (an hour ago). That means, I spent more than twelve hours of this day programming that sumo bot in the Engineering University (which I had never been to before) but it was damn awesome. It was a great experience, I met a lot of interesting people and I even got an official T-shirt which looks cool.

Here it is, The Arrest! In all it's terrible, terrible glory.

Haha, funny you should mention that. I'm currently writing an EGB fanfic myself. So far I'm on the prologue, but I'd say I'm about 50% done with the first draft. After that, I'll revise it and post it up. Expect it in the next few days.

Oh, more things to catch up on. I'll probably read "The Arrest" tomorrow (as well as the other stories which have new chapters).

I have sent out PM's to every member of the September roster (with the exception of Insanimation and Krev, who have since left the Barracks); I don't believe we've had any new recruits this month. If you did not receive a PM from me, let me know immediately.

Cool, I just and replied to the PM. And about the roster, Lizzardis asked me if he could make next month's roster, and since I've been a bit busy I thought it was a great idea :) So yeah, if everything goes on as planned he'll make the next update.

After the rollcall is over (September 30 is the deadline), the EGB roster will be far more up-to-date and accurate, and then we'll begin the Officer Assessment---going through the current positions, determining if any positions are not currently needed (or if any new positions should be created), and determine if the current officers can/should maintain their posts.

We'll also be straightening up the EGB forums to ease access and procedure, as well as making it far more clear who is responsible for what in regards to reporting rulebreaking flash/art/etc..

Again, some interesting updates that I'm looking forward too :)

All right all right...

Here's where the whole story came out in the EGB thread. Start with Peregrinus' "Oh snap" link and then start reading the Barracks thread from there. I start pulling it out of him (acting as hot-and-charming) and he finally confesses on something like page 288.

Thanks a lot, I also missed this stuff that apparently everyone enjoyed. I'll also read that when I have some time :)

I didn't get to see the banner myself, but I noticed this thread about it. Of course, that wasn't the only thread about it.

Also, I'm loving both EGB stories, I wish there were more people writing fan-fiction about the EGB, it's so damn entertaining!

I won't argue about whether threads being locked quickly is good or not, but I'll just say that mods acting quickly and efficiently doesn't mean that Newgrounds is dying.

Indeed, it looks like whenever I go away for some hours, people start posting at a faster rate than usual.

In other use, I signed up for some kind of robotic sumo contest along with another three friends, it basically consists of programming a box so that it's able to throw another box off a circle. We have one week to do all that, and today we started working on it and it was pretty fun tweaking the code and watching the computer simulator. It's all programmed in JavaScript, and even if I don't know THAT much about Java when compared to our "main programmer", I felt quite useful when I discovered a big flaw in the code that everyone had overlooked.

So yeah, I'll be busy having lots of fun for the next week :D

Which one does resubmit fall under?

"This movie is stolen" - Use this option if you are certain an entry has been submitted by someone other than the creator. After blowing the whistle you will be asked to indicate from whom or where the entry was stolen; provide links when possible.

"This movie is malicious (e.g. auto-spawns pop-up windows, multiple submission)" - Use this option if an entry has malicious intent such as spawning pop-ups to other sites automatically, trying to run a script or interact with your computer in a malicious way, or was submitted repeatedly after being Blammed with no effort made to improve the entry. After blowing this whistle you will be asked to indicate which malicious acts the entry committed.

"This movie is unsuitable (e.g. hardcore adult, porn slideshow, hateful, illegal)" - Use this flag if you feel an entry goes beyond what is appropriate for Newgrounds.com. While we host a lot of extreme content we do not seek content that is racist, hateful, or illegal. Examples include child pornography, bestiality, photos or video of hardcore adult acts, pornographic slideshows, and images of people or animals being killed, tortured, or mutilated. (Note: If someone submits a Flash movie or game that merely uses hardcore material in a humorous way and the submission is at least rated accordingly, it may be acceptable. Again, after blowing this whistle you will be asked to indicate what you found to be unsuitable.

Copy pasted from the FAQ. You can go there to get more information. If possible, read it before asking questions as most questions are already answered there.

I think this is the flash you're talking about:

It also got first place on Pico Day 2007.
