Military could handle it, sure they could but i think shooting at civilians is the very last option. if i read through this thread some ppl want it the good ol American way: killing ppl (like in past riots in America). well, that is not the way these days. keep stupid comments like "yeah it is France" or "just shoot them" out of this topic. just stay out of politics forum and go back to general because you aren't contributing in no way. come back when you have learned to have a discussion.
It’s incredible this whole situation. it isn't only Paris, now it has turned in to French riots. it now has spread to various parts of the city.
and to other cities. from Marseille to Lille (Rijsel) (south to north) this is indeed a great uproar.
But if the shooting by rioters continues i think they should get the military. then it has passed "soft rioting". in that case the military would be defending the ppl and the peace. but a downside: military intervention could have a wrong effect, things could get more radical.
this is the first time i see an on-line dutch guy make some sense *g*
Ow: the French have handled riots very well in the past. Paris was built in the past in a way to get the army fast to riots and to oversee things well. but it's not Napoleon time anymore. these days killing rioters just like that isn't a option anymore in the western world. but if things escalate, and it is going in that direction, military could be the last option.
exactly paris riots have been quite numerous throughout the ages. there allways have been riots that started in paris. e.g. the studentriots in '66, the french commune, the french revolution and many many many more.
